The Arsenal board have ramped up their interest in Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola with patience said to running out with Arsene Wenger.
Guardiola, who has made no secret of his interest in managing in England, has emerged as the Gunners’ top choice to replace struggling Frenchman Wenger, with owner Stan Kroenke believed to be driving the move.
According to the Daily Star, patience with Wenger is running out among high-ranking Arsenal officials – including Kroenke – and attention has turned to whether they could bring in Guardiola.
The 43-year-old seems unlikely to want to depart Bayern anytime soon, but rumours are rife in Germany that there’s a culture clash among him and his players, which could open the door to a move.
Arsenal are said to be considering Everton’s Roberto Martinez as a possible alternative, if they sack Wenger and can’t bring in Guardiola.
