MAN CHARGED WITH HAVING SEX WITH A DEAD BODY IN A FUNERAL HOME...

A burglar has admitted having sex with a corpse after lifting the lids of ‘multiple coffins’ at a funeral parlour. Kasim Khuram, 23, admitted forcing open the door of the building at 3am on November 11 then sexually penetrating the body at the Central England Co-operative Funeralcare in Great Barr, Birmingham.

CPS Spokesman Baljinder Kaur said: ‘This is an unusual case and it is difficult to imagine a more distressing violation of a loved one. On the strength of the case built by the police and CPS the defendant ultimately pleaded guilty and will now have to face the consequences.

‘Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased

A judge adjourned Khuram’s sentencing for a psychiatric report until January 31, but warned the defendant he was facing a ‘substantial’ jail term. Khuram, who appeared in custody in Birmingham Crown Court flanked by a security officer, touched his chest and gave the thumbs-up to supporters in the public gallery during a 10-minute hearing.

He also admitted burglary of the funeral home, breaking into the building with the intention of stealing. Wearing a black hooded top and trousers and sporting a Palestinian flag tattoo on the left side of his neck, he stood with hands clutched in front of him as the charges were read.

Relatives of the deceased were in court during the hearing. The offence Khuram admitted said:

‘You intended an act of penetration by a part of a body, by a part of your body. ‘The penetration being sexual and knowing or being reckless as to knowing that is what was being penetrated.’

The court heard he was briefly sectioned under mental health laws on arrest, after officers alerted by the parlour’s alarm turned up to find him still at the scene. Judge Francis Laird QC said: ‘I will adjourn your sentence to the date that has been raised in court.

‘I will allow your solicitors the appropriate time to present to the court a medical report which your solicitor thinks will assist in delivering the appropriate sentence for you.

‘But you must be under no illusion that you will receive a sentence of imprisonment for your offending in this case – a substantial sentence of imprisonment.’

A Central England Co-operative spokesman said: ‘Our primary concern is for the families we serve and the welfare of our funeral colleagues who have all been deeply affected by this incredibly disturbing and unprecedented event.

‘The security measures at Great Barr are such that the alarm alerted the police, who were thankfully able to apprehend the suspect at the scene.

‘We would like to thank the West Midlands Police for their care and assistance and we will work to support them in any way possible.

‘We will not be making any further comment until the conclusion of this case.’

TWO-WEEK-OLD BABY FIGHTING FOR LIFE AFTER BEING RAPED...

A two-week-old baby has allegedly been raped and is fighting for its life in hospital. The baby is in the paediatric unit at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children where it is being treated.

A man appeared in court earlier this week charged with rape and causing grievous bodily harm of a child, according to the BBC.

The baby was taken to hospital from the Annalong area of County Down.

Police said that a 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with rape and GBH with intent.

The attack is under investigation by detectives from the Serious Crime Branch. His name cannot be reported in order to protect the baby’s identity and he has been remanded in custody at Maghaberry prison.

He made a brief appearance in court on Saturday September 29 and was remanded in custody at Newry Magistrates’ Court next Wednesday.

Video: DRUNK MAN SWINGS FROM HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER LINE...

This was the moment an allegedly drunk man dangled from high-voltage power lines.

Fortunately, the lines were not carrying electricity at the time and the man swung for a few moments before climbing down the 30-feet transmission tower safely.

The incident occurred at a village in Katihar district of Bihar, India, on September 30.

The man, Vilash Bhagat, 32, reportedly got drunk and stripped down to his underwear.

Before anyone could stop him, he climbed the transmission tower and started swinging from the power lines.

An eyewitness, Naresh Yadav, said: “The lines carry 33 thousand volts of electricity. He was lucky as there was no power at the time. Due to shortage of power, shutdowns are common in the area.”

Many villagers, including his wife, pleaded with Vilash to get down. But he refused and stayed put on the tower for some time.

Though he got down safely and fled, Vilash has landed in legal trouble and may face a probe by the local police on multiple charges – from endangering public property to endangering himself and breaking the prohibition laws of the state of Bihar.

AFRICA'S YOUNGEST BILLIONAIRE KIDNAPPED BY GUNMEN...

The man said to be Africa's youngest billionaire has been kidnapped by masked gunmen in Tanzania's main city Dar es Salaam, police say. Mohammed Dewji, 43, was abducted outside a swanky hotel gym where he was going for his routine morning workout.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident and two of the abductors were believed to be foreign nationals, police added. The motive for Mr Dewji's abduction is still unclear.

Financial magazine Forbes puts his wealth at $1.5bn (£980m), and has described him as Tanzania's only billionaire.

In a 2017 report, it said Mr Dewji was Africa's youngest billionaire. Mr Dewji is also a major sponsor of one of Tanzania's biggest football teams, Simba.

He promised in 2016 to donate at least half his fortune to philanthropic causes, Forbes said.

Mr Dewji, locally known as Mo, is credited with turning his family business from a wholesale and retail enterprise into a pan-African conglomerate, reports the BBC's Athuman Mtulya from Dar es Salaam.

His company, MeTL, has interests in textile manufacturing, flour milling, beverages and edible oils in at least six African states.

Mr Dewji served as a ruling party MP for a decade until 2015. He told the BBC in a 2014 interview that this possibly made it easier for him to meet top politicians, but it did not give him an unfair advantage, as other businessmen also had access to them.

Environment Minister January Makamba, a friend of Mr Dewji, tweeted that he had spoken to Mr Dewji's father and the family confirmed that he had been kidnapped.

Mohammed Dewji has huge celebrity status in Tanzania. You would be hard pressed to find a person in Dar es Salaam who did not know of Mohammed or the Dewji family and he would often draw large crowds at public events.

But despite his wealth and fame he has always been incredibly relaxed in his approach to security - in fact all the Dewji family were.

He never moved with security guards or bouncers and would often pop out to the gym on his lunch break or to meet friends after work unaccompanied.

In his day to day life he didn't look like a billionaire - he was a friendly, affable young man going about his business.

The abduction took place in the affluent neighbourhood of Oysterbay. The kidnappers fired shots in the air before driving away with the billionaire, eyewitnesses said.

Mr Dewji, a fitness enthusiast, had no security guards with him and had driven to the gym on his own, Dar es Salaam regional police commissioner Paul Makonda told reporters.

Two of the kidnappers were white men, he added. Security personnel across Tanzania have been put on high alert in the hunt for the abductors, police said.

26-YEAR-OLD PREGNANT WOMAN BRUTALLY MURDERED BY SUGAR-DADDY...

Sharon Otieno’s body was found dumped in the bushes on the side of the road, covered in stab wounds, a day after she went missing. The 26-year-old was seven months pregnant, and investigatorssaid she was attacked so viciously that even her unborn child had been stabbed. Her murder, and the circumstances around it, have shocked Kenya, and continue to dominate conversations on Twitter.

But the investigation into her death been accompanied by a debate about “sugar daddy” or “sponsor” culture, which is when a wealthy person (usually a man) pays someone (usually a woman) large sums of money and finances their lifestyle — everything from university tuition to an apartment — in exchange for sex or companionship. These consensual transactions are not new to Kenya or anywhere else in the world, but have recently gained a massive platform with the help of social media, where women publicize the lavish lifestyles they lead.

Many women view these sorts of relationships strictly as a means of earning money to pay for school fees or to support their families. It is the alleged relationship Otieno was believed to have had with Gov. Okoth Obado, who oversees Migori County in southwestern Kenya, that is the reason why, despite the horrific nature of her death, some people are still suggesting she was at least partly to blame.

Obado’s office did not respond to a BuzzFeed News request for comment, but his spokesperson, Nicholas Anyuor, told media in Kenya the governor would not get involved in the case, “which is under police investigation, because he has not been implicated in it.”

Otieno, 26, was a second-year student at Rongo University, located in western Kenya, studying medical records and information. If Otieno and Obado were in a relationship, it remains unclear when it started, or what, exactly, it entailed, but her mother, Melinda Auma, has said her daughter told her Obado was the father of her unborn child.

“I remember that in the early stages of her pregnancy, I asked her to tell us who was responsible for it and she told me it was Gov. Obado,” Auma told the Daily Nation, a Kenyan newspaper. “At one time she even said he had promised to buy her a house and take care of her pregnancy and, later, the baby.”

But as Otieno’s due date drew near, she began to worry that Obado would not follow through on his promise to take care of the baby, so she reportedly decided to expose their relationship through the press, according to Daily Nation journalist Barrack Oduor. He said he had arranged to meet with Otieno to discuss the matter for a potential story, so he contacted the governor’s office for comment.

Oduor said he was told that Obado’s assistant, Michael Oyamo, would meet both him and Otieno on Monday, Sept. 3, to clarify the situation.

According to reports, the assistant led Otieno and Oduor out of the hotel where they’d all agreed to meet, and into a car, so that, according to the assistant, they could talk at a different location. Oduor later said that at one point, the driver pulled over and all at once, the assistant got out of the car as two men entered it, sandwiching him and Otieno together in the backseat.

Oduor said that when he tried to ask why Oyamo had gotten out of the car, the two men in the backseat demanded that he and Otieno hand over their phones and belongings.

Oduor said they had been driving for about 40 miles when Otieno started to cry. According to Oduor, an altercation ensued between him, Otieno, and the two other men in the backseat, with one man trying to hold Otieno down and the other attempting to strangle Oduor. But Oduor managed to fend off the attack and jumped out of the moving car. He said he made his way to a nearby police station and recorded a statement, alerting the public that Otieno was missing.

Police found her body dumped in a pile of bushes in the small town of Oyugis in Homa Bay County late Tuesday night, igniting a string of hashtags like #JusticeForSharon and#ArrestOkothObado. Rongo University students demonstrated for Otieno’s killers to be jailed Tuesday afternoon, and two lawmakers from the county issued a joint statement calling on investigators to work quickly to solve the crime.

“This should be the true test of DCI [Directorate of Criminal Investigations]. Whether it's a governor or an MP involved, nobody should be spared,” said Gladys Wanga, the women’s representative of Homa Bay County.

Opposition leader and former prime minister Raila Odinga later told a news conference, “We want to condemn this act of thuggery in the strongest way possible. And we hope that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are going to be brought to book in a speedy way.” The government has said the murder will be “expeditiously investigated.”

BuzzFeed News has reached out to Homa Bay investigations director Daniel Wachira for an update on the case. Obado’s assistant was arrested on Tuesday and he is currently undergoing questioning. On Friday the government pathologist said Otieno had been stabbed eight times, in her neck, back, and abdomen. Police said there was evidence to suggest she'd been sexually assaulted prior to her murder.

Even in the wake of Otieno’s tragic death, some Kenyans have seized the opportunity to shame her, and other women, who engage in sugar daddy or sponsor relationships, going so far as to suggest that they deserve whatever happens to them as a result.

Even Wanga, one of the lawmakers advocating for Otieno’s killers to be swiftly brought to justice, told young women to accept their “humble backgrounds” and steer clear of sponsors.

But other Kenyan women told BuzzFeed News that these comments not only miss the point, but trivialize Otieno’s death.

Valentine Njoroge, who writes about feminism and sex, told BuzzFeed News that criticizing Otieno for the type of relationship she may have had with the governor was short-sighted.

“To say that she shouldn’t have had an affair with him, or to point to the man like he’s the victim, is just really fucking lazy,” she said, adding that women with sugar daddies are rarely given a chance to speak up for themselves.

“The truth is, for a lot of women in these relationships, it’s not about their pleasure,” she said. “The guy calls the shots in the bedroom, and there’s no talk about condoms or HIV testing. Why wouldn’t he [Gov. Obado] wear a condom if he didn’t want her to get pregnant?”

Njoroge also said that people are asking the wrong questions when it comes to women who have been victimized as a result of their partnerships with older men.

“We have to ask ourselves why is it that more and more men seek out these relationships,” she said. “It’s one thing to point fingers at the young girls. They’re looking for money. But what is the male looking for that makes this kind of relationship attractive? Obado has probably been having sex for longer than Sharon was alive. What made her so attractive to him?”

Felista Wangari, a Kenyan journalist, told BuzzFeed News that the focus on Otieno and Obado’s alleged relationship draws attention away from the actual crime.

“In Kenya, we like to blame the woman, and we absolve the man from any responsiblity,” she said. “We say he was a helpless man who the young girl preyed upon, who stole him from his wife and caused heartbreak to the family.

As if the man has no mind of his own, dragged into the relationship at gunpoint. If he says, ‘I want that girl,’ it could be life-threatening if she says no.”

Given the prevalence of intimate partner homicides all over the world — at least half of the women murdered in 2012 were killed by their sexual partners, according to aUN study — Njoroge said it’s baffling that Obado has not been arrested yet.

Otieno is not the first woman who has had an encounter with a politician or wealthy Kenyan man and wound up dead.

On June 17, 2011, a young woman named Mercy Keino went to a party that was also attended by former Kiambu County governor William Kabogo. According to reports, Kabogo slapped Keino at the party, and she ran away. The next day, Keino, 25, was found dead, having been run over by a car. Kabogo was charged with murder, but was cleared of the charge in 2016.

And a week before Kenya’s elections last August, Carol Ngumbu, 21, was found in a car, having been strangled to death along with electoral commissioner Chris Msando, causing rumors of a romantic relationship to swirl. Her case, like Msando’s, is still open.

Wangari noted that the deaths of these young women who’ve been connected to politicians haven’t stopped the relationships from happening, which makes complaining about them useless.

“They’re not protecting anyone by claiming to say these are the consequences of dating an older, powerful man,” she said.

“And if you sanction murder for such a flimsy reason, then at the end of the day, we will all be in danger.”

CARDI B AND NICKI MINAJ GETS INTO HUGE FIGHT AT A NEW YORK FASHION PARTY CAUGHT ON VIDEO...

Cardi B was escorted out of a New York fashion party Friday night after allegedly trying to attack fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.

Photos from the incident showed her with a swollen bump on her forehead as she was taken outside, an injury purportedly caused by Minaj's security detail who intervened.

Video footage on social media showed Cardi B being held back as she was escorted out of Harper’s Bazaar "Icons" party.

In an Instagram post that didn't name Minaj at 12:14 a.m., Cardi B wrote that she has “let a lot of shit slide!”

“I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, fuck up the way I eat! You’ve threaten other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop fuckin with them!!"

She added: "I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped the plea!"

A witness who declined to be named because they were not authorized to speak publicly told the Associated Press that Minaj was talking to someone when Cardi B tried to attack her, but security guards intervened.

As Cardi B was escorted out of the venue, a welt on her forehead was clearly visible.

Cardi B and Minaj have been two of the more prolific rap artists in the past year, apparently sparking a rivalry. Cardi B, who also noted criticism of her mothering skills in her Instagram post, recently had her first child with rapper Offset.

Outlets, including TMZ, reportedthat Cardi B allegedly threw one of her high-heeled shoes at Minaj during the altercation.

After news of the incident broke, Late Night Twitter was obviously here for it.

Minaj has yet to address the alleged altercation but has been updating her Instagram page with a selfie video of herself and photos.

WOMAN DEVELOPS BLACK HAIRY TONGUE AFTER TAKING ANTIBIOTICS...

A 55-year-old woman who was originally admitted to the hospital after her legs were crushed in a car accident. When she developed a wound infection, she was given antibiotics — but after one week, something strange started to happen. In addition to feeling nauseous and having a bad taste in her mouth, the woman noticed her tongue had turned black.

The team caring for the woman called Dr. Yasir Hamad, a doctor at the hospital and assistant professor at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Hamad, who coauthored the case study, had read about the condition before but hadn’t seen it in real life. “When I went and saw her, it was a classic, textbook case of black hairy tongue,” he told BuzzFeed News.

Yes, black hairy tongue, or lingua villosa nigra, as it’s also known medically, is a real thing. Before you panic and repeatedly check your tongue in the mirror, know that it’s harmless and reversible. But why does it happen and how is it cured? We spoke to Dr. Hamad — and looked at countless images of discolored tongues — to find out.

First, your tongue isn’t actually growing coarse black hairs (cue: sigh of relief). What happens is that the papillae — tiny cylindrical structures on the tongue’s surface — elongate, so that food particles and bacteria get stuck, which produces a stain, Hamad explained.

When people have this condition, the tongue usually looks yellowish or brownish — most cases are not as dramatic or intensely black as this one, Hamad said. Either way, it’s still benign. “It doesn’t look great, but it doesn’t cause harm.”

Black hairy tongue is a side effect of certain medications, but it can also be caused by smoking, poor oral hygiene, poor diet, chemotherapy, and some medical conditions.

In this woman’s case, it was a side effect of minocycline, which is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that is sometimes used to treat acne. The drug is relatively well tolerated but can also have serious side effects if taken for long periods of time. “It can cause discoloration of the eyes, and we don’t give it to kids because it can permanently stain the teeth,” said Hamad.

The treatment for black hairy tongue typically includes removing the medication or agent causing it and practicing good oral hygiene. Hamad and his team took the patient off minocycline, and within four weeks, her tongue looked normal.

So if you do notice your tongue turning brown or black, don’t panic, but do go to a doctor or dentist to get it checked out.

BARACK OBAMA BLASTED TRUMP FOR "THE CRAZY STUFF THAT'S COMING OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE" AND NOT DENOUNCING NAZIS...

Former president Barack Obama on Friday delivered a searing and direct criticism of President Donald Trump, the first time he's done so since he left the White House in 2017. It also seemed to be the first time Obama criticized Trump by name in his post-presidency. He blasted Trump for his failure to denounce Nazis in Charlottesville, for stoking baseless conspiracy theories, and for the “crazy stuff that's coming out of this White House.”

Obama also noted that it was his own policies that have ushered in the robust economy Trump currently claims as his greatest achievement. Trump, in remarks to supporters on Friday, responded by saying Obama's speeches put him to sleep. "Isn't this more exciting than listening to President Obama?" he said.

Obama’s speech — at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was receiving an ethics award — was touted as his first foray into the 2018 election cycle. He also took aim at the Republican Party’s seemingly unwavering support of Trump despite deep misgivings.

Obama's remarks were aimed at encouraging young people to vote in the midterm elections. He said, “In the last midterm elections in 2014, fewer than one in five young people voted. One in five. Not two in five or three. One in five. Is it any wonder this Congress doesn't reflect your values and your priorities?"

“The claim that everything will turn out OK because there are people inside the White House who secretly aren't following the president's orders — that is not a check,” he said, referring to the anonymous op-ed in the New York Times that was published this week.

“They're not doing us a service by actively promoting 90% of the crazy stuff that's coming out of this White House, and then saying, 'Don't worry, we're preventing the other 10%.' That's not how things are supposed to work. That's not how things are supposed to work. This is not normal. These are extraordinary times. And they're dangerous times,” he said.

Obama acknowledged he had been largely missing from the political stage since Trump took power, in keeping with past presidents. "I was also intent on following a wise American tradition. Of ex-presidents gracefully exiting the political stage, making room for new voices and new ideas," he said.

Here are some of the subjects Obama hit upon:

On Charlottesville

* We are Americans. We're supposed to stand up to bullies. Not follow them. We're supposed to stand up to discrimination, and we're sure as heck supposed to stand up clearly and unequivocally to Nazi sympathizers. How hard can that be? Saying that Nazis are bad.

* When you vote, you've got the power to make sure white nationalists don't feel emboldened to march with their hoods off or their hoods on in Charlottesville in the middle of the day.

On White House dysfunction and that New York Times op-ed

* The claim that everything will turn out OK because there are people inside the White House who secretly aren't following the president's orders — that is not a check. I'm being serious here. That's not how our democracy's supposed to work. These people aren't elected. They're not accountable. They're not doing us a service by actively promoting 90% of the crazy stuff that's coming out of this White House, and then saying, 'Don't worry, we're preventing the other 10%.' That's not how things are supposed to work. This is not normal. These are extraordinary times.

On Hurricane Maria

* I know there are Republicans who believe government should only perform a few minimal functions but that one of those functions should be making sure nearly 3,000 Americans don't die in a hurricane and its aftermath.

On school shootings

* If you're tired of politicians who offer nothing but thoughts and prayers after a mass shooting, you've got to do what the Parkland kids are doing. Some of them aren't even eligible to vote yet. They're out there working to change minds and registering people. And they're not giving up until we have a Congress that sees your lives as more important than a campaign check from the NRA. You've got to vote.

On walls

* We know in a smaller, more connected world, we can't just put technology back in a box. We can't just put walls up all around America. Walls don't keep out threats like terrorism or disease.

On the rule of law

* It should not be Democratic or Republican, it should not be a partisan issue to say that we do not pressure the attorney general or the FBI to use the criminal justice system as a cudgel to punish our political opponents. Or to explicitly call on the attorney general to protect members of our own party from prosecution because an election happens to be coming up. I'm not making that up. That's not hypothetical.

On freedom of the press

* It shouldn't be Democratic or Republican to say that we don't threaten the freedom of the press because they say things or publish stories we don't like. I complained plenty about Fox News, but you never heard me threaten to shut them down or call them enemies of the people.

On the roots of the Trump presidency

* Sometimes the backlash comes from people who are genuinely, if wrongly, fearful of change. More often it's manufactured by the powerful and the privileged who want to keep us divided and keep us angry and keep us cynical because it helps them maintain the status quo and keep their power and keep their privilege. And you happen to be coming of age during one of those moments. It did not start with Donald Trump. He is a symptom, not the cause.

On conservatism

* This Congress has championed the unwinding of campaign finance laws to give billionaires outside influence over our politics. Systematically attacked voting rights to make it harder for the young people, the minorities, and the poor to vote. Handed out tax cuts without regard to deficits. Slashed the safety net wherever it could. Cast dozens of votes to take away health insurance from ordinary Americans. Embraced wild conspiracy theories like those surrounding Benghazi or my birth certificate. Rejected science. Rejected facts on things like climate change. Embraced a rising absolutism from a willingness to default on America's debt by not paying our bills to a refusal to even meet, much less consider, a qualified nominee for the Supreme Court because he happened to be nominated by a Democratic president. None of this is conservative.

* It's not conservative. It sure isn't normal. It's radical.

On tax cuts

* So with Republicans in control of Congress and the White House, without any checks or balances whatsoever, they've provided another $1.5 trillion in tax cuts to people like me who, I promise, don't need it and don't even pretend to pay for them. It's supposed to be the party supposedly of fiscal conservatism. Suddenly deficits do not matter. Even though just two years ago when the deficit was lower, they said I couldn't afford to help working families or seniors on Medicare because the deficit was an existential crisis. What changed?

On jobs numbers

* When I came into office in 2009, we were losing 800,000 jobs a month. 800,000. Millions of people were losing their homes. Many were worried we were entering into a second Great Depression.

* And by the time I left office, household income was near its all-time high, and the uninsured rate hit an all-time low; poverty rates were falling. I mention this just so when you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let's just remember when this recovery started.

WOMAN CANCELS DREAM WEDDING AFTER DISCOVERING FIANCÉ WATCHES PORN...

A woman has revealed she cancelled her dream wedding just a week before the big day - after discovering her fiancé watched porn. Claire Dalton's ex kept the habit secret from her throughout their four-year friendship and relationship and she was so shocked she called off the marriage - despite having spent six months planning it.

The 21-year-old is very religious and said she has been dreaming of a relationship which was "true and pure" and "governed by God's law" since she was young girl, in a blog post written for Love What Matters. She thought she'd found that with her unnamed fiancé, who she split from a year ago, but now believes it was "all a lie from the beginning".

Just a week before the wedding American Claire, who's a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), and her fiancé were running errands for their big day - and she checked his phone to see if a shop was still open. But when she saw his search bar, she realised he had "been searching for pornography possibly just hours ago", and immediately "felt sick to (her) stomach".

At first, her husband-to-be lied and said his brother had borrowed his phone, before later admitting: "It's me... I have a problem."

She added: "At first, I thought it was some sick joke.  It never occurred to me that pornography addiction would ever leak into my life or affect me in such a deep and excruciating way."

After hearing him admit the truth, Claire decided to call off the wedding - and had to call every one of her 300 guests to break the news. But she said it wasn't so much the porn which was the problem, but the fact that he'd lied about it for years.

Claire said: "Someone I loved and cared for deeply had been expertly lying to me for the entire length of our relationship, and possibly longer, since we had been friends for so long.

"All at once, I was with a stranger instead of the person I thought I knew so well. In an instant I could never trust those lying eyes ever again.

"All I ever wanted in a relationship was honesty, and it quickly occurred to me the only honesty I’d known at that point was fake."

Video: 2-YEAR-OLD BOY SMOKES 2 PACKS OF CIGARETTES A DAY THAT SHOCKS EVERYONE...

A 2-year-old boy known as RAP, who lives in Sukabumi, Western Java, Indonesia, has become a smoking addict for the past month and a half. According to local information, this boy smokes 2 packets of cigarettes a day.

The boy's parents says he is addicted to cigarettes to the point that he would be angry and refuse to eat anything if he couldn't smoke.

Maryati, RAP’s mother, said the boy began this horrible habit by picking up cigarette butts left on the floor when guests visit house. “At first my child picked up cigarette butts on the floor and now he is addicted to cigarettes.” Maryati said.

Misbahudin, RAP’s father, said he was surprised to see his son smoking as much as an adult. Mr Misbahudin said: “I do not even smoke regularly. I just smoke at work. Every time he smokes, he needs a cup of mocha beside him. If we do not let him, he will scream or smoke from other people. ”

RAP parents say they are trying to find a way to help their son quit smoking, and he seems to be quite open to the idea. Although RAP smokes so much, there have been no reports of government intervention to help RAP from addiction and his parents not be prosecuted for negligence or endangering children.

RAP is not the only boy smoking cigarettes in Indonesia. Previously, Ardi Rizal, Sumatra also shocked many people when smoke up to 40 cigarettes a day when he was just 2 years old.

MAN SERVING LIFE SENTENCE BEGINS MASTER'S PROGRAMME...

An inmate at Awka Prisons in Anambra State, Jude Onwuzulike, has enrolled for a Master’s degree programme in Information Technology at the National Open University of Nigeria. The 39-year-old man and father of four, who is serving a life jail term, matriculated on Monday during the seventh matriculation ceremony of the institution held at the Awka Prisons.

Speaking with Southern City News at the matriculation arena, Onwuzulike said he believed that one day, his education and knowledge would be of help to him. He said he had earlier obtained a first degree and post-graduate diploma from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, respectively, before his ordeal.

He said, “My first degree was in Accounting in 2005, while the second was in Mathematics. When I came here, I did a post-graduate diploma in Information Technology and now, I’m doing a Master’s degree in the same discipline.”

Onwuzulike said he enrolled for Information Technology due to the unsatisfactory manner the case that led to his imprisonment was investigated.

“I noticed some lapses in the way the case that brought me here was investigated, which someone needs to correct. So, this course I’m studying will assist me to carry out forensic investigations in similar circumstances,” he added.

Describing the prison as not ideal for learning, Onwuzulike said it would only take someone who remained focused in life to maximise the opportunity.

He added, “Here, you see all kinds of people; the uneducated, those who lack parental upbringing and those who were brought up in the motor park. They will be distracting you, including asking you to switch off the lights for them to sleep and stuffs like that.”

Speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Prof Abdalla Adamu, who was represented by Dr Scholastica Ezeribe, expressed delight in Onwuzulike’s zeal.

Adamu said though the university’s matriculation took place on June 23, the management had to fix a special day for the inmate in view of the peculiarity of his case.

Adamu urged other inmates to take advantage of the free education provided by NOUN to better their lots.

He said, “The VC is so passionate about the programme that he graciously offered it to inmates free of charge in order to encourage them and to give them hope.”

On his part, the prison superintendent, Ezenam Andrew, said the programme was one of the reformative packages to make the inmates useful and productive so as not to be threats to the society after their time in prison.

TRAMADOL ADDICT DIES 8DAYS AFTER FALLING ASLEEP FOLLOWING ARREST...

A suspected kidnapper who was arrested on charges of kidnapping by Ondo State Police has died eight days after he fell asleep. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after he and three others attempted kidnapping a shop owner.

He was asleep for days after taking Tramadol tablets shortly before the kidnapping operation in the town of Owo. Police say they recovered a 400mg tablet of Tramadol from the suspects pocket.

This according to the police could signal his addiction for the drug and the possibility that he took an overdose before the criminal operation.

Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State Command, Femi Joseph confirmed the suspects death to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday.

The suspect reportedly died at a hospital after doctors failed to revive him.

“The suspect died nine days after we arrested him; we thought he would be revived so that he could help us in our investigation. Unfortunately, he died yesterday (Monday).

“This could be connected with his suspected high intake of Tramadol.

“We are using this opportunity to further educate the public, especially parents, to monitor their wards and the kind of company they keep,’’ Joseph said.

Tramadol is a man-made synthetic narcotic pain reliever. It is usually prescribed to patients suffering from moderate to severe pain.

It has emerged that many young people in parts of Africa are getting addicted to Tramadol.

Some are abusing the drug, taking it in excess of approved clinical doses. They take the drug to engage in various activities including prolong sex as well.

HIGH VOLTAGE WIRE KILLS WOMAN, 3-YEAR-OLD SON, INJURED OTHER SIBLINGS...

Disaster struck on Dada Olowu Street in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State on Friday when a high-tension wire fell on a shop and electrocuted a woman, Patricia Ossai, and her three children.
The scene of incident

It was learnt that Patricia and her children were inside the shop when the wire snapped from the pole and fell on the shop.

It was gathered that at the hospital, one of the children, Chidi Ossai, was pronounced dead.

Patricia’s husband, Mr. Sunday Ossai, was still at work when he was informed about the incident.

He said, “I got the shop two months ago for my wife to sell provision so that she can have something to do.

“I was at work when someone called me that I should rush down to a hospital in the area, adding that my wife and children had been rushed there.

“When I got there, I was told to collect hospital card for the three of them and deposit N100,000 for treatment before I could be allowed to see them. They later told me that I lost my boy.

“I was able to raise N50,000 for them to start treatment for the ones alive.

“The next day, some officials of IE came and said I should not worry about the bill, but I have not heard from them although they told the Managing Director of the hospital to continue treatment.

“I was told that the officials had come to the street to work on the pole four days before the incident, but the wire they worked on cut where they joined it, fell on the shop and electrocuted my family. My daughter is seriously injured and my wife and last child are on drip.

Sunday urged the government to come to his aid, saying he had spent all his life saving.

“I have lost my boy, I don’t know what the government can do to bring my boy back but they should try and help me to take care of the ones alive because I have spent a lot of money since the incident happened,” he said.

The landlord of the affected shop, who did not identify himself, said he was inside the house when he heard a noise outside the compound.

He said, “On Friday, the light was on and suddenly I noticed that all electronic appliances in my house were in flames.

“While I was battling the flames, I heard a noise outside and I rushed out and saw what happened.

“About five people were affected, including the woman and her three children.

“It was raining when the wire snapped. The woman and her children became unconscious and they were rushed to Hampard Hospital. Some youths wanted to protest, but I talked to them because I don’t want trouble. I called the IE officials but before they switched off power supply to the area, the damage had been done. They, however, came to remove the wire.

“According to the meeting I had with the officials, they said they would take care of the hospital bill and they have visited the woman in the hospital.”

The Head of Corporate. Communications of Ikeja Electric, Felix Ofulue, could not be reached as his mobile phone rang out. He had yet to reply to a text message sent to the number.

COPS TORTURE MUSICIAN FOR ALLEGEDLY BEING A SUSPECTED YAHOO BOY...

A musician by name Richie Sunday, aka Dollamachine, has accused some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of unlawfully arresting and torturing him. Sunday said he was arrested around 12pm on Thursday, July 19, 2018, in the Iyana-Oworo area of Lagos State. He added that the policemen said he was a yahoo boy (Internet fraudster).
It was learnt that the 26-year-old was on his way to a supermarket to buy some drinks before the SARS operatives accosted him, telling him to enter a commercial bus.

The musician also said when he requested for the identity of the officer that initially stopped him, he and other members of his team allegedly pounced on him using the butts of their guns and sticks to beat him up, injuring him in the process.

Sunday said he was not told what he did and was never given the chance to explain, adding that when he could no longer bear the pain and realised that his life was at stake, he got into the bus.

He said, “It happened on Thursday around 12pm at Iyana-Oworo. I have a studio there; but an event was going on so I could not drive out when I needed to get a bottle of cold drink and table water. While I was on my way, one man who was armed and putting on a T-shirt accosted and told me to follow him.

“I asked who he was because I wanted to be sure that he was a policeman. But all of a sudden, the officers started beating me; they used the butts of their guns, and sticks to hit me and eventually forced me to enter inside a commercial bus.

“They refused to identify themselves and did not give me a chance to explain who I was. At first, I was taken to the Iyana-Oworo Police Station, but later, they took me to Charlie Boy Police Station. I did not write any statement, but they wrote a statement for me which I refused to sign.

“They accused me of being a yahoo boyand took my mobile phone; but in the process of checking my phone, they checked my profile and got to know that I was a musician.

“They did not find any incriminating item on my phone, but they had already beaten me black and blue. All I got was, ‘sorry, it will not happen again.’

“I was held up for about four hours before they set me free.”

The Akwa-Ibom indigene, who said he was still nursing the injuries he sustained from the encounter, added that he was traumatised and had been deprived his fundamental right as a Nigerian citizen. He also called on the government to reform the police to make it more responsible, adding that corrupt officials are denting the image of the force.

Sunday said, “I am still traumatised; I lost N15,400 and some jewellery. As I speak with you, I am in pain. When you called me, someone was applying some local medication on my legs where I sustained injuries. I feel I have been denied my right to walk freely as a Nigerian. I cannot move around freely anymore, except when people are with me because I am scared.

“I want the government to focus attention on these SARS men because a lot of people are going through this same ordeal in their hands. A lot of youths are being accused for what they know nothing about. I just want the government to focus on fishing out these corrupt officials and reform the Nigeria Police Force.”

The state Police Public Relation Officer, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, adding that the officers involved were not SARS operatives.

He said, “The boy was not picked up by SARS. He was picked up by the Anti-Cultism Squad of the command that acted on credible information that cultists were having initiation ceremony around the particular location.

“The officers stormed the location to arrest a large number of cultists and he was picked up because he was at the location.

“He, however, gave a satisfactory account that he was a musician to the officers and was released with no bail condition. It is surprising for him to start saying that he was maltreated.

“Artistes who are in the twilight of their careers should not use the name of the police to launch themselves back to stardom.”
