Jealous Teen Admits To Murdering Pregnant Woman She Met On Facebook, Cutting Baby From Her Womb.

Police in Mexico say 17-year-old Guadalupe Salinas Hernandez murdered an 8-months pregnant woman and cut the baby from her womb so she could kidnap the unborn child.

The victim, Nathaly Cartas Leon, 20, had been preparing the nursery for her baby when she came across Hernandez, who was selling some nursery items on Facebook. The two arranged to meet at Hernandez’s house. According to reports,  as soon as the very pregnant Leon walked through the door, Hernandez hit over the head with a blunt object and stabbed her several times.

Once Leon was dead, Hernandez reportedly did the unthinkable and cut the the baby from the victim’s womb out of “jealousy.”

Although Leon had been reported missing, the case broke when Hernandez showed up at the hospital with Leon’s baby, claiming she had given birth to a stillborn baby.

The New York Daily News reports, that “doctors quickly realized that she was not the mother as she claimed of the child, and also that the baby had not died a natural birth but that it had suffocated in the womb after the death of its mother.”

Hernandez confessed the horrific crime to police, who later found Leon’s mutilated body at Hernandez’s home. According to police, Hernandez had recently had an abortion that she regretted and planned to kidnap a baby to pass off as her own.

Brain-dead Woman Being Kept Alive Against Family’s Wishes Because She’s Pregnant

A brain-dead pregnant woman is being kept alive against her parents’ wishes because the law in the Republic of Ireland requires doctors to defend the right to life of her 17-week-old foetus.

The woman, who is in her 20s, suffered catastrophic internal injuries and was admitted to Mullingar’s Midland Regional Hospital two weeks ago, according to the Irish Independent.

Her baby is still alive but her parents do not want her to be kept on life-support, although other family members are said to oppose this and want her to be kept alive.

Foetuses typically cannot survive outside the womb until around 24 weeks.

Women Are Selling Positive Pregnancy Tests To Lock Men Down Over Christmas.

Positive pregnancy tests are being sold online to keep struggling relationships from falling apart over the Christmas period.

Ads have appeared on websites including Craigslist offering the tests for around $20 (£12.80).

One ad reads: ‘I have positive pregnancy test for those of you who need a little help holding onto your man through the holidays, shoot me a message for $20 each.’

Fake positive pregnancy tests have been available for some time, and are advertised on sites like eBay as a ‘prank’ gift.

Another Craigslist post, which has since been removed, asks: ‘Wanna lock your man down just in time for Christmas?’

But police have warned how buying these tests in a bid to tie down a partner could be classed as blackmail.

Gary Mason, of Kansas force in the US, said: ‘For example, if a married man is having an affair and he tried to break it off with the girl, and she became upset and decided to present this fake pregnancy test and demand money, otherwise she would tell the spouse. That would be a level of blackmail.’

Graduate Robber Promises To Turn A New Leaf And Embrace God If Released...

A suspected car thief, Amucha Chike, who was arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnap Unit of the Enugu State Police Command, has promised to attend a thanksgiving church service and embrace God if released.

Chike, 27, who said he was a graduate of Agriculture Economics from the Abia State University, Uturu, and has completed his National Youth Service Corps programme, blamed the devil for his ill-fated venture into crime.

The suspect, who hails from the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, said he wished to use his university degree to seek an honest living.

The Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, explained that Chike had on June 16, 2014, snatched a Toyota Camry at Independence Layout, Enugu, after the owner left the key in the ignition after parking to open his gate.

Chike allegedly jumped into the car and drove off, warning a lady who was inside the vehicle to lie down, or he would shoot her dead.

The said lady was eventually dropped along the way, before Chike proceeded to Owerri, Imo State, where he kept the car in a dealer shop, before selling it for N700,000.

Having sold the car, Chike moved to Benin City, Edo State, to relax and enjoy the proceeds of the stolen car, but unknown to him, the police were already on his trail.

He was eventually arrested on November 29 in Edo State, while having dinner in an undisclosed restaurant.

Following his arrest, the stolen vehicle was recovered.

Chike, who is currently helping the police in their investigations, urged youths to avoid crime.

He said, “I am ashamed of myself. I am still surprised at how the police traced me to Edo State and arrested me.

“Youths should eschew all manner of crimes and criminality and embrace good virtues and God will embrace them someday but involvement in crime and criminality will destroy their future.”

The suspect added that he needed prayers and deliverance.

Two New York Police Officers Shot Dead In Revenge Over Chokehold Death...

The man who murdered two New York City police officers posted deadly internet threats hours before he ambushed them in their patrol car, it has emerged.

William Bratton said the officers, Liu Wenjin and Raphael Ramos, were ‘quite simply assassinated’, shot in the head without warning, after the gunman approached the passenger window of a marked police car in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighbourhood and opened fire.

The suspect, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, then ran inside a Brooklyn underground station, where he killed himself.

Mr Bratton said Brinsley shot and wounded his ex-girlfriend earlier in Baltimore and made posts from her Instagram account. ‘This may be my final post,’ said one that included an image of a silver handgun.

He also posted about shooting two ‘pigs’ in retaliation for the death of Eric Garner, an unarmed black man who was stopped by police on suspicion of selling loose, untaxed cigarettes and put in a chokehold. Brinsley was black and the officers were Asian and Hispanic, police said.

‘I’m putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours, let’s take 2 of theirs,’ Brinsley posted, using the hashtags Shootthepolice RIPErivGardner (sic) RIPMikeBrown.

The shooting happened hours later, around the time that Mr Bratton said New York police were receiving a warning fax from Baltimore authorities.

9-Year-Old Girl Writes Touching Letter To Teacher Who Came Out As Gay...

A 9-year-old girl has stunned her teacher by penning him a touching note after he came out to his class as gay.

The teacher told the class of primary school children about his sexuality after the majority of his students admitted to having heard the word ‘gay’ used in a derogatory way and believing that gay men and lesbians were bad or in some way wrong, during a class on bullying and homophobia.

He explained to Pink News: ‘After speaking to my Head, who was very supportive, we agreed I could tell the class that I’m gay so they at least knew one gay person and hopefully explain that when people use that word they’re talking about me.’

And although the news was well received by the class, he was taken aback when the unnamed student slipped him this heartfelt note a few days later.

The note opens with the line, ‘Even though you’re gay, I will always treat you the same way as I do now’, and concludes, ‘You don’t have to feel scared because I know that everone in the class feels the same way as I do’

The teacher told Pink News: ‘Reading it brought tears to my eyes and it took me a little while to compose myself. When I thanked her she just shrugged and repeated something one of the boys in the class had said during the lesson, ‘It’s just your life’. Then she went back to her maths.’

What an inspirational little girl.

President Goodluck Jonathan Is Like Jesus Christ, Says Okupe

A Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, says the President is just like Jesus Christ.

He said the burden Jesus carried when he died for the sins of mankind was similar to what Jonathan is presently carrying.

Okupe said this during a programme on Channels Television, Sunrise Daily, which was monitored by our correspondent on Monday.

“People do not understand the burden this President is bearing. He’s like Jesus Christ. He’s bearing the burden of everybody,” he said.

He said despite the many problems the Jonathan administration was grappling with, the President would still defeat the All Progressives Congress in February next year.

“I can’t see GEJ losing this election. It’s not possible,” he said.

He also claimed that insecurity in the North-East had reduced significantly.

He commended the Federal Government’s efforts, noting that all aspects of the war against terror, including funding, were being worked upon.

“Today, the Nigerian Army is in total and perfect control,” he said.

He berated the Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, for not trying enough to curtail poverty and deliver the dividends of democracy to his people.

When asked by the presenter to justify the claim in view of Shettima’s allegation that Jonathan was not doing enough to tackle insecurity, Okupe said, “He (Shettima) never fails to amaze me. Most of the problems of insurgency is situated in his state but he is travelling to Lagos, London and other nations to discuss insurgency but fails to meet the President on the matter.

“Boko Haram is a multi-national, international insurgency arrangement in Nigeria. The group has links with other international terrorist groups.”

The presidential aide said the fight against Boko Haram also had political undertone.

He accused the APC presidential candidate, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, of not assisting the Federal Government through his utterances.

Okupe alleged that Buhari had said any attack on Boko Haram was an attack on the North and that Buhari’s recent condemnation of Boko Haram was as a result of his fourth bid to become Nigeria’s president.

He said the over 200 girls that were abducted by Boko Haram in Chibok were still a priority.

He said, “The issue of Chibok girls is a tragedy but it is a tragedy that we must bear with fortitude. Chibok girls are a major thorn in the flesh of the administration. If it was possible to get them yesterday, I know that this government would have done it.”

Okupe admitted that Jonathan had not been able to solve the electricity problem as promised but noted that it was not a problem that could be solved overnight.

He said for instance, in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, the facilities used in supplying electricity were over 35 years old.

“On the power situation, we are not there yet. We are definitely on a road that cannot change,” he said.

He also claimed that government efforts were being sabotaged by politicians who sponsored vandals to attack gas pipelines.

Okupe, however, added that the rate of sabotage had reduced in the past year.

Policeman Shoots Musician While Pursuing Bribe Evader

An upcoming artiste, Olasore Oluwafemi, has been shot by a policeman in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

However, the cop was identified as Zakari, attached to the Owutu Police Division, Ikorodu.

Breaking News: Taliban Militants Attack School In Pakistan Killing At Least 84 Children

Three explosions have been heard at a Pakistani school currently under attack by the Taliban.

Children as young as five are among at least 100 dead in the north western city of Peshawar.

Police were struggling to hold back distraught parents trying to break past a cordon and get to the school when three loud explosions went off, police officials said.

At least 84 children have been killed in the attack and many more are missing. The Taliban say they sent in six gunmen wearing suicide vests.

Taliban terrorists went to the high school in Peshawar earlier today where they launched the deadly attack slaughtering at least 95 people.

Local media is reporting that there are more than 100 dead.

He said: ‘We selected the army’s school for the attack because the government is targeting our families and females. We want them to feel our pain.’

The school is in Peshawar, a region of Pakistan which has suffered extreme violence in recent years.

Two militants have also been reportedly killed.

Pervez Khattak, the chief minister of the province where Peshawar is located, said 84 people have died but that could rise further in the unfolding drama.

He said fighting was still underway and that roughly the same number of students have been wounded. He said the 84 killed were all ‘children’ but hospital officials earlier said at least one of the fatalities was a teacher and a security official was also among the dead.

The school is located on the edge of a military cantonment in Peshawar but the bulk of the students are civilian.

Taliban spokesman Mohammed Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack in a phone call to media, saying that six suicide bombers had carried out the attack in revenge for the killings of Taliban members at the hands of Pakistani authorities.

One of the wounded students, Abdullah Jamal, said he was with a group of 8th, 9th and 10th graders who were getting first-aid instruction with a team of Pakistani army medics when the attack began.

When the shooting started, Mr Jamal, who was shot in the leg, said nobody knew what was going on in the first few seconds.

‘Then I saw children falling down who were crying and screaming. I also fell down. I learned later that I have got a bullet,’ he said, speaking from his hospital bed.

‘All the children had bullet wounds. All the children were bleeding,’ he added.

Peshawar has been the target of frequent militant attacks in the past but has seen a relative lull recently.

Pictured: Hero Of Sydney Siege And Hostage Killed During Lindt Cafe Crisis

One was a mother of three barrister, the other was the manager of Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Sydney who tried to tackle a lone gunman.

Yesterday they were confirmed dead as a siege in the city finally came to an end.

Ms Dawson, 38, had nipped in for a coffee near her offices in the central business district and was described by Jane Needham, president of the New South Wales Bar Association as ‘one of our best and brightest barristers who will be greatly missed by her colleagues and friends.’

Mr Johnson is being cited as a hero for sacrificing himself while trying to tackle gunman Man Horan Monis.

Four people were taken to hospital following the 16-hour siege, including a police officer with facial wounds from gunshot pellets.

Shortly after laying flowers near the scene, prime minister Tony Abbott labelled radical group Islamic State a ‘death cult’ and told a press conference there were questions to be answered over why Monis was freed on bail.

He said: ‘This has been an absolutely appalling and ugly incident – that’s the only way to describe it. Our hearts go out to the families of Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson. These were decent ordinary people who were going about their ordinary lives.

‘Decent, innocent people who were caught up in the sick fantasy of a deeply disturbed individual.’

He added Monis had ‘certainly had been well known to the Australian Federal Police … but I don’t believe that he was on a terror watch list at this time.’

Police deputy commissioner Catherine Burn told reporters today the gunman was ‘unstable’.

She said: ‘He was on bail and in terms of that matter, his movements will form part of the critical investigation.

Drunk Student Falls Asleep On Radiator And Melts His Arm...

Many of us have a few regrets after last week’s round of Christmas parties – but one student reveller went further than most, and ‘melted’ his own arm.

‘It really hurt,’ he said.

The Plymouth student, who asked to remain anonymous, went out for a couple of light refreshments with friends before falling asleep against a comfy radiator.

It was off at the time – but turned on during the night.

The 21-year-old admitted he had to ‘peel himself off’ in the morning.

The engineering student from Plymouth, Devon, said: ‘The vodka and beers were flying everywhere and I took it a bit far.

‘When I came back I was hammered and I fell asleep against the radiator which was cold at the time.

‘I thought “Jesus, my arm’s stuck on a radiator, what am I going to do?”

‘I had to peel myself off. It really hurt.’

Gay Couples To Convert Their Civil Partnerships To Marriage...

Same-sex couples who entered into civil partnerships will be able to convert them into marriage from today.

The first 10 couples will make the conversion in Brighton today after a change to the law.

Ian Scott, 70, and Ron Williams, 82, from Brighton, whose civil partnership took place in January 2006, are among the couples taking part today.

Mr Scott said: ‘We are elated. We never thought it was something which would happen in our lifetime.’

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has praised the change to the Marriage Act as further progress for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) equality in the UK, and said: ‘I am proud that couples can finally convert their civil partnerships to marriage.’

Ten registrars will take the couples through the administrative process simultaneously in separate offices at Brighton Town Hall at 10am, a Brighton and Hove City Council spokeswoman said.

All 10 couples will be given a commemorative certificate to mark their involvement in the day’s celebration, she added.

Mr Clegg said: ‘Today is another celebration for LGBT rights in this country, but as ever it’s a reminder that there are people across the world living under much less fortunate conditions, facing discrimination and persecution on a daily basis.

‘So as we raise a glass to those making their vows, we send a message of solidarity to LGBT people everywhere.’

There is no legal ceremony as part of the conversion process but Brighton and Hove Register Office will offer couples the opportunity to mark the change to marriage with a celebratory ceremony.

Linda Holm, superintendent registrar, said about 150 couples have already booked to convert their civil partnerships into marriages.

She said: ‘It has been an absolute privilege to lead the registrar team through this year of historic changes in the law and to achieve greater equality for same sex couples.

‘We have been contacted by many couples keen to book with us to convert their civil partnership to marriage.

‘So we chose to offer the chance to be the first to do so to as many couples as possible.

‘We have had an enormous amount of interest with bookings from about 150 couples so far.

‘We are delighted that we are able to have such a key role in helping civil partners become legally married.’

LeBron James Breaks Royal Protocol With Kate, Duchess Of Cambridge

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met basketball star LeBron James in New York on Monday night after watching a basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Barclays Center indoor arena.

Prince William and the former Miss Middleton were also presented with NBA jerseys, including a small one for their young son, Prince George.

While posing for photographs, LeBron James appeared to surprise the Duchess of Cambridge by breaking royal protocol and placing his arm around her.

The breach of protocol echoed the time when Michelle Obama caused a stir by putting her arm around the Queen in 2009.

Tell Jonathan To Give Me My Nomination Form, Abiola Wife Begs...

One of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof. Akasoba Duke Abiola alleged yesterday that President Goodluck Jonathan was in possession of her expression of interest and nomination forms, just as she said that the president plans to use her form to contest the 2015 election.

Speaking with Journalists yesterday in Abuja, Akasoba Duke Abiola who insisted that she would not abide by the decision of the party to endorse President Jonathan as its sole candidates, said that even after paying her N2 million nomination form and also being the first aspirant to pay for the presidential form, the party denied her the form.

Although she has gone to court to challenge the decision of the party, the aspirant who described the action of the party against her and millions of voters as discriminatory and a coup d’etat against democracy, said, “It is an abrogation of the Constitution, a flagrant violation of fundamental human rights and contrary to all international protocols and conventions to which Nigeria is a signatory including the United Nations Charter. Succinctly put, this is a clear case of political violence against women. This has become a global conversation as the endorsement of one aspirant cannot metamorphose into the trampling on the fundamental right.

“In the interest of integrity, transparency and accountability, we submit that form 001 should have been given to me, since I was the first to pay and the first to arrive the party secretariat for the form.”

Prof. Abiola who noted that she has been excluded from the party convention, even as a presidential aspirant, however accused Jonathan of being in possession of her presidential form, adding, “it is my submission that the party should give me my form. Someone got my nomination form and that person is in Aso Rock and he should give me my form.

“If there is any ratification at the convention on Wednesday for any person that person will be standing in for me.

“The President is intimidating us, let Nigeria tell that person, the President to give me my nomination form. I am not scared of them and nobody will settle me, I am not for settling. Jonathan should give me my form and if he does not, he is depriving me of my right. If there is any ratification at the convention, Jonathan is poaching my delegates.”

Egypt Arrests 33 Homosexuals In Bath House Raid..

Egyptian security forces raided a bath house and arrested 25 men suspected of homosexuality, dragging them naked out of the building in downtown Cairo, an official said Monday.

The raid is part of an ongoing crackdown on gay men and comes after an Egyptian court last month convicted eight men on charges of “inciting debauchery” following their appearance in an alleged same-sex wedding party on a Nile boat, sentencing each to three years imprisonment.

Egyptian law does not explicitly prohibit consensual same-sex relations but prosecutes and imprisons gay men on charges such as “debauchery” and “shameless public acts.”

The raid on the bath house, or hammam, took place on Sunday in the city’s Ramses neighborhood, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media. He said the bath house owner, an unidentified 60-year-old man, was suspected of renting the place out specifically to homosexuals.

Homosexuality is a social taboo in Egypt, a conservative, Muslim majority country with a sizable Christian minority. Same-sex marriage is unheard of and only in recent years have fiction and movies included gay characters.

The crackdown on homosexuals, and also on atheists, goes hand in hand with a wider campaign against all forms of dissent, both by liberal and Islamist political groups.

In April, four men were convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison each for “debauchery” after allegedly holding parties that involved homosexual acts and where women’s clothing and makeup were found.

In 2001, Egypt made headlines around the world when 52 men were arrested in a police raid on a Nile boat restaurant and accused of taking part in a gay sex party. After a highly publicized trial in an emergency state security court, 23 of the men were convicted and sentenced to prison terms of one to five years for immoral behavior and contempt of religion.

Homosexual Murders Partner In Hotel Room

A suspected gay, Mohammed Snu, has been murdered by his partner, Mohammed Umar, inside a room of a hotel in Garki, Abuja.

It was gathered that Snu died after he was stabbed multiple times in the ribs with a screw driver by Umar last Thursday.

The deceased, who was a regular guest at the hotel, was said to have invited Umar for sex, but their romance went sour when Snu refused to pay his partner for the second round of sex.

A source in the hotel said that the two men had sex twice, but Snu allegedly refused to pay for the second round, which led to a scuffle.

The source said, “The man had just come back from a mosque where he went for prayers with his partner when we heard a loud noise from his room and a voice saying ‘ya kuri (please, don’t be angry)’. By the time we forced the door open, we saw Umar standing naked and Snu lying dead on the bed with stab injuries on his body. We immediately called the police and Umar was arrested.”

The hotel manager was whisked away by police for interrogation.

The incident was said to have generated an uproar around the Garki neighbourhood, as residents gathered in clusters to discuss the tragedy.

Policemen from the FCT Command came in a white pick-up van and took the corpse away.

They also drove away his white Mercedez salon car with Abuja registration number, KUJ 883 AQ, which was parked on the hotel premises.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Peter Okechukwu, who confirmed the incident, explained that the deceased invited the suspect to massage him in his hotel room, saying he had pains in his ribs.

He said, “In the course of the massage, Snu asked Umar to undress for sex, and from there, they engaged in a scuffle leading to the stabbing of the deceased by the suspect. It was the loud noise from their room that attracted the hotel workers.

Housemaid Abducts Bosses Two Kids

A housemaid, identified simply as Juliet, has allegedly abducted the two children of her bosses who live on Gateway Crescent in the Magodo, Isheri area of Lagos State.

The 24-year-old housemaid was said to have fled home with the kids –Rafael (3), and 15-month-old Michael– who are nephews of a Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, on Sunday evening after their parents went out around 6pm.

It was gathered that the kids’ mother, Mrs. Onajite Esharegharan, and her husband, Elvis, had decided to go for a shopping on the fateful day in celebration of the latter’s birthday.

It was learnt that the couple had instructed Juliet, who hails from Osun State, to lull the kids to sleep before they left home.

It was further learnt that Juliet, the children, their grandmother and her nurse ─ who also lives in the house ─ were in the sitting room watching television, when the generator went off. It was said that the elderly woman and the nurse decided to retire to their respective rooms, while Juliet went upstairs with the children.

It was when the couple came back home that the household discovered that the housemaid had sneaked out with the children.

It was gathered that Onajite secured the service of the fleeing housemaid last Tuesday through a sale portal, OLX, where a visitor, identified simply as Omolade, advertised .

Omolade had allegedly posted a number on the website for those who were interested in a “humble” housemaid to apply ─ an advertisement to which Onajite responded.   It was learnt that Omolade eventually took Juliet to Onajite’s office.

The couple were visited at the Unity Estate, Ojodu, where Onajite’s aunt lives.

Onajite said, “After we came back from the church, the children looked tired and I told Juliet to take Michael to bed while I went to do my hair. He had not slept when I came back. That day (Sunday) was my husband’s birthday and we decided to have a couple’s outing. We told her to take the children to bed immediately because they were very tired.

“We got back home at 9pm. It was Abigail, the nurse, that opened the door for us. When we entered, everywhere was quiet and that was when my husband became suspicious because usually, our children would have run from upstairs to say welcome.

“She probably deceived the kids that she was taking them to their mum. Her telephone line and that of Omolade have been switched off since yesterday (Sunday). We lodged complaints at the Isheri Police Station and the Department of State Service. The police said it was beyond their capacity, but the DSS promised to track the housemaid down.”

Elvis, a businessman, said, “We just hope nothing is going to happen to them. We do not have any specific suspicion as to where she took them to.”

Onajite’s aunt, Mrs. Tina Obajuwana, said she was amazed by the housemaid’s action despite her calm look.

“When she was introduced to me on Saturday, I thought she would be a good woman. She looked gentle and hardly could anyone think she is evil,” she said.

In a post on a news portal, Nairaland, Henshaw urged members of the public to provide the family with information that could help in locating the children.

The post read in part, “Please help spread the news. My nephews (Rafael and Michael) have been missing since yesterday. These boys have been kidnapped! Lord locate them and bring them home safe and sound. Their parents left them at home briefly with the housemaid, grandmother and a nurse. The maid ran away with the children when the grandmother and the nurse went to bed. When the parents returned home, the children and maid were gone.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident, adding that efforts were on to rescue the victims.

He said, “There are efforts to rescue the children and apprehend the fleeing maid. Members of the public are encouraged to give information that will lead to the rescue of the kids and reunite them with their parents.”

British Businessman Shrien Dewani Murder Case Thrown Out Of Court...

British businessman Shrien Dewani has been dramatically cleared of the murder of his honeymoon bride Anni.

Judge Jeanette Traverso dismissed the case against Dewani after roundly condemning the evidence of the chief prosecution witness.

Announcing her ruling, the judge said: ‘The accused is found not guilty of this charge.’

Giving her ruling in Cape Town on an application by Dewani’s defence lawyer Francois van Zyl to dismiss the prosecution, Judge Traverso said cab driver Zola Tongo’s claims about the murder of Anni Dewani were ‘riddled with contradictions’ and ‘highly debatable’.

The judge said the evidence presented by the prosecution fell ‘far below’ the required threshold.

She said the only reason not to grant the application would be in the hope that Dewani would implicate himself if he gave evidence .

But to do so would be a ‘manifest misdirection’, she said

Dewani, who was finally extradited this year to face trail accused of planning the murder of his wife in November 2010, listened intently as key evidence against him was criticised by the judge.

The decision to dismiss the case was a huge disappointment for the family of Mrs Dewani, 28, whose maiden name was Hindocha.

In a statement outside court, the family said: ‘We feel really, really sad because we have not heard the full story. Shrien lived a double life.’

Last week the Hindochas begged Dewani to ‘tell the world what happened the night she died’, with her brother Anish imploring him to take to the witness stand and tell his story for the first time.

Leaving the Cape Town court today after the judge ruled that would not be necessary, the Hindocha were clearly distraught and angry.

Dewani, who can now return to the UK a free man, breathed a large sigh of relief as Judge Traverso cleared him.

He heard the judge declare that the evidence from the three criminals already convicted over his bride’s murder was ‘so improbable, with so many mistakes, lies and inconsistencies you cannot see where the lies ended and the truth begins’.

She said the evidence of Tongo, who testified against Mr Dewani after entering a plea bargain, was ‘riddled with contradictions’, while others had lied on oath.

Members of Dewani’s family wept and embraced as the wealthy businessmen left the dock swiftly via the holding cells. Anni’s family bowed their heads amid shouting from the public gallery.

Dewani, 34, has always denied plotting with others to murder his bride, whose lifeless body was found in the back of a taxi in a rough township, on November 14, 2010.

Three men – Tongo, Mziwamadoda Qwabe and gunman Xolile Mngeni – have already been convicted for their part in Anni’s murder, when the Dewanis’ chauffeur-driven late-night tour of a township was hijacked.

Prosecutors said bisexual Mr Dewani, from Westbury-on-Trym near Bristol, had long planned to get out of the relationship to Swedish-raised Anni, and arranged the attack in which he would escape unharmed and Anni would be killed.

But Dewani’s defence team criticised prosecution witnesses and said the case against him was weak.

The ruling brings to an end a four-year wait for Dewani and his family to clear his name – a battle which has included lengthy spells in mental health units, lurid allegations about his private life, and fighting extradition from the UK to face justice.

Dewani has yet to comment publicly on the case since extradition proceedings began, three weeks after the death.

Boko Haram Abducts 20 More Girls In Borno State

The Boko Haram sect has reportedly abducted over 20 girls and also killed many people, mostly old men and women in Lassa, a town in Borno State.

Quoting a member of the community, Daniel Ibrahim, SaharaReporters stated that the Boko Haram sect also killed many people, mostly old men and women, before they kidnapped the women.

SaharaReporters also stated that a security source confirmed the report.

“They [Boko Haram] abducted more than 20 girls from our town and killed many people, mostly old men and women,” the online medium quoted Ibrahim.

Ibrahim, who said he survived the attack, revealed that the insurgents had been advancing toward Lassa since late November but had met stiff resistance from local fighters until Wednesday.

He said the insurgents attacked the town last Wednesday with a variety of heavy weaponry, including tanks and explosives. They were finally able to overwhelm the local opposition and capture the town.

“They burnt almost half of the town before they left. Those of us who were lucky fled, but they massacred aged ones and the younger men they could catch,” the source stated.

He said the town fell to the insurgents because the residents’ appeals to security agencies to deploy more troops and to step up land and air operations were ignored.

“That’s why the town is now in the hands of Boko Haram,” he said.

A senior military officer attached to the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army based in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, confirmed that the military was aware of the development in Lassa.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has said that Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, has been thrown into complete blackout as a result of the activities of the Boko Haram sect.

Government said the major power substation that supplied electricity to the city had been blown off by the sect on more than one occasion.

Minister of State for Power, Mr. Mohammed Wakil, said engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria had fixed the substation and other vandalised installations in the past, adding that the military had advised the ministry to refrain from visiting the area as it was a “danger zone.”

The minister spoke to journalists in Abuja.

He said, “If you can recall clearly you will know that the first local government they (Boko Haram) took over was Damboa. That is my local government. Now because of the crossfire they had with the battalion, they ended up in not only vandalising some of the power installations in the region but they also burnt the major substation in that city.

“That substation in Damboa is one of the biggest substations in the North and it links Gombe with Maiduguri. That led to the collapse of power in Maiduguri and the city is in blackout. I summoned the TCN and talked to them that they must restore power in the area. The TCN mobilised its team and were ready, but that area is a danger zone.”

Court Stops Obasanjo From Publishing Autobiography

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Wuse Zone II, Abuja, has granted an order restraining former President Olusegun Obasanjo from going on with plans to publish or have someone publish on his behalf, his new autobiography titled, ‘My Watch.’

Request for the order was made by a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Buruji Kashamu, in an ex parte application.

Justice Valentine Ashi made the order on Friday as he agreed with Kashamu’s lawyer, Alex Iziyon (SAN), that part of the content of the book related to the subject matter of the N20bn libel suit instituted by the PDP chief against former President Obasanjo.

The court restrained the former President from publishing the book, pending the determination of the libel suit instituted against him.

The content of the book was said to be related to a letter dated December 2, 2013, written by Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan, claiming that Kashamu was wanted for drug-related crime in the United States of America.

Iziyon had argued on Friday that since part of the content of the autobiography related to the December 2, 2013 letter, which is the subject matter of the libel suit, it was wrong for Obasanjo to be allowed to proceed to comment on, write books about or make publications on the issue yet to be decided by the court.

Justice Ashi, in his ruling, restrained Obasanjo from either publishing the book or have it published on his behalf by anybody, pending the determination of the main suit.

The court order read in part, “The defendant, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, whether by himself, his agents, servants, privies or any other person by whatever name called and howsoever described, is hereby restrained from publishing or caused to be published in the yet to be published book, ‘My Watch’ or any autobiography or biography and any extracts of same, by whatever name called or howsoever titled, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice hereof.”

The judge further restrained Obasanjo and his agents “from further writing, printing, publishing or causing to be published or printed or circulated, or otherwise, publishing of and concerning the plaintiff, the statement contained in the Daily Sun (pages 47-49) and The Leadership (pages 3 to 8) newspapers of December 12, 2013, and which statements are alleged to have reproduced the letter written by the defendant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, titled: ‘Before it is too late’ or similar statements pending the determination of the motion on notice.”

But the judge also directed Kashamu to enter into a bond with the Chief Registrar of the court for damages he would pay should the order restraining Obasanjo from publishing the book turned out to be something the court ought not to have been granted.

The judge asked the applicant to “execute a bond with the Registrar of the court to pay such damages as shall be assessed should it turn out that the order ought not to have been granted in the first place.”

The court adjourned hearing in the main suit till December 10.

Kashamu had, shortly after the content of the letter was widely published in electronic and print media, sued Obasanjo for alleged defamation of his character.

He argued that Obasanjo “maliciously and recklessly published a letter, titled, ‘Before it is too late,’ which contained words which he (Obasanjo) knew to be false.”

In his writ of summons, Kashamu stated that the criminal imputation made against him by Obasanjo in his letter, had injured him (Kashamu).

He is praying the court to award in his favour, and against the ex-President, N20bn for the damage he had suffered as a result of the allegation.

Man Flee Home After Raping Daughter

The police are on the trail of a 50-year-old man, Vincent Uzor, who is on the run after allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter.

It was learnt that the victim was raped last week Tuesday in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos State where Uzor lived with his second wife.

It was gathered that the victim’s mother died about seven years ago after which she started living with her grandmother.

However, when the old woman became plagued with ill health, she was said to have been taken to the Ogijo area of Ogun State, where she stayed with an aunt.

But the aunt, three weeks ago, reportedly sent her to her father in Ebute Meta, saying she wanted to travel.

The Primary four pupil in an interview said her father defiled her while she was in the kitchen.

She said, “My mother died seven years ago. I did not know my father because I grew up with my grandmother. It was when I was 12 years old that I was told I had a father.

“Three weeks ago, my aunty told me I would stay with my father for a few days because she was travelling and did not want to leave me alone at home. That was how I went to stay with my father.

“On Tuesday, around 6.30pm, my father asked me to warm the soup on the stove. He suddenly followed me inside the kitchen and shut the door. I thought he wanted to cane me, and I started begging him.

“Instead, he removed his clothes and pulled my skirt and pants. Then he had sex with me. It was painful and blood gushed out from my private parts. He then said he was sorry.”

The victim said her father gave her N500 for treatment after she complained of pains in her legs.

She added that he took her to a traditional doctor who prescribed some concoction for her.

“My father told me he wanted to travel. I used the money he gave me to buy recharge cards and I called my elder brother and some other people to tell them what happened to me,” she said.

However, before the police could arrive at the scene, Uzor was said to have fled the house.

The victim was reportedly taken to Ogijo, where the matter got to the attention of the Ogun State Coordinator of the Centre for Defence of Human Rights, Mrs. Toyosi Bello.

Bello accused the police of trying to cover up the incident.

She said, “The Denton Police Division wanted to muddle up the matter and I decided to take the case to Nigerians. This girl is almost an orphan and needs help, but the police are trying to compound her problems.”

It was also learnt that the victim and Bello were later connected with a human rights organisation, Project Alert on Violence against Women.

The Coordinator of the group, Mrs. Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, said the 14-year-old had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

She said, “When she got here, we did a referral letter to Mirabel Centre, which is a subsidiary of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Some medical tests were carried out on her and drugs were given to her.

“She is in our custody in the interim because she cannot go back to either her aunt or father. We discovered her aunt had been physically abusing her. We saw scars all over her body. The aunt then sent her to her father who further sexually abused her.”

Effah-Chukwuma said the group had petitioned the police authorities because the case was not given the attention it deserved, adding that the Denton Police Division had been “notorious in terms of how they respond to sexual abuse cases.”

A letter, dated December 4 and addressed to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, claimed that the policemen handling the case connived with Uzor’s second wife to rubbish it.

It added that the Lagos State Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Women Affairs (Child Department) had been notified.

“The matter is now at the SCID.”

DOOMSDAY WARNING: World Will End In The Next SEVEN YEARS, Warns Terrifying Prophecy

The end of the world will happen in the next SEVEN YEARS with a cataclysm of natural disasters, according to a terrifying prophecy.

The world will be ravaged by floods and earthquakes, according to prophecy. Floods, earthquakes and deadly plagues will finish all humanity and the civilised world as we know it.

The horrifying forecast is being made by some Christian groups who predict the “Rapture” phenomenon will bring about a global Apocalypse before 2021.

Traced back to ancient Biblical texts, believers claim warnings of the impending Armageddon also signal the second coming of Jesus.

They say similar events have been charted in ancient history including the Biblical Flood of 2,348 BC, told in Genesis, and the Three Plagues of Egypt.

Though dismissed by some, others insist such calamitous theories are true and warn the impending catastrophe will destroy the planet.

Dr F. Kenton Beshore, President of the World Bible Society, says the "Rapture" is likely to occur between now and 2021 before the Second Coming between 2018 and 2028.

Flash floods like these in Montpellier could be a regular occurance, according to some Christians

Dr Beshore, who holds five doctoral degrees in theology, bases his prediction on texts in the Bible including the book of Thessalonians which states: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

He warns the human race to be prepared for the return of “our Lord and Saviour” and be ready for “His return at all times” stating it is written in the book of Matthew.

He claims messages hidden in the Bible give warnings of when to expect the “End Times”.

The book of Matthew states: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

Some Christian groups believe we only have seven years left on earth
World Bible Society.

Dr F Kenton Beshore has spoken of the day the Earth will come to an end.

Dr Beshore said: "If we can get our Jewish Scriptures into their hands now, the Holy Spirit will lead them to them at the right time.

“They may have set them aside, but they will read them, turn to the Lord and lead billions and billions to Jesus.

“Now, we are all going to be gone.”

Believers of the Rapture theory also quote the book of Corinthians which states: “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality.

Man Killed Stepdaughter And Filmed Himself Having Sex With Corpse

A man shot his stepdaughter dead so that he could film himself having sex with her corpse, a prosecutor has claimed.

Gregory Graf, 53, took video of himself violating the body of Jessica Padgett, 33, and the footage was found on his computer.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said that he had confessed to killing Padgett adding that prosecutors believe he was motivated by necrophilia.

She was last seen alive in Easton, Pennsylvania, on November 21 when she set off for work. Her body was later discovered behind a shed at her mother’s house – a house she shares with Graf.

Padgett, a mother of three who had only just got married,  was described as ‘a beautiful vibrant young woman who was beloved by her family and friends.

‘The world shines less bright today.’

He is to be charged with abuse of a corpse.

North Korea Is Threatening To Bomb South Korea’s Christmas Tree

Christmas is a season to be happy and celebrate with friends and families the birth of Jesus Christ. But is not the case for North Korea who is threatening to bomb a christmas tree in South Korea.

This new confrontation happened when a South Korean Christian group were given the green light to rebuild a 30-foot Christmas tree near the border, the powers-that-be in Pyongyang were not impressed, to say the very least.

Seoul’s defence ministry announced on Tuesday that the steel tower on Aegibong, a hill just miles from the North Korean town of Kaesong, would be lined with light bulbs and have a cross placed on top.

But North Korea called the tree a tool for psychological warfare and immediately threatened to fire artillery at it.

‘[The tower] is not just a means for religious events but a symbol of madcap confrontation racket for escalating tensions,’ said North Korean state media.

South Korea, however, aren’t backing down, and say the new tower will be installed and lit up for two weeks from 23 December.

President Jonathan To Senators: Concentrate On National Issues Not Impeachment

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday told senators behind the Jonathan-Must-Go impeachment project that there were issues of national importance that needed their attention rather than the plot against him.

Jonathan’s advice was contained in a reaction by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, who fired back at the senators said to be compiling signatures and impeachable offences against the President.

“It is our view that there are at present, serious fundamental issues of national importance such as winning the war against terrorism and stabilising the economy in the face of dwindling oil revenue which require the full attention, commitment and swift action of distinguished members of the Senate,” Okupe said.

Arrowheads of the impeachment plot against Jonathan in the Senate on Tuesday told journalists in Abuja that 65 senators had already signed to remove the President and that they would formally present a request to commence the impeachment proceedings on December 16.

The senators said they would have tabled their request this week but for the adjournment in the Senate. The upper federal legislative chamber had suspended plenary till December 16 for members to participate in the ongoing primaries of the parties.

Okupe’s full statement read, “The Senate in the last four years has conducted its legislative functions and responded to issues that are of great national importance with commendable political sagacity.

“In this same period, the Senate has functioned as a stabilising force within the polity employing much political maturity that is required to guide and protect our nascent democracy.

“However, confrontation and strong disagreements are not uncommon phenomenon in Executive-Legislative relationship world-wide.

“The recent purported attempt by some senators to prepare impeachable offences against the President, as reported in some section of the media, is seen by us in this light.

“We strongly trust and believe in the leadership of the present Senate and the unwavering patriotism and commitment that have been shown by the distinguished members and we trust that ultimately it is this tendency towards true nationalism that will prevail in the Senate.

“It is our view that there are at present, serious fundamental issues of national importance such as winning the war against terrorism and stabilising the economy in the face of dwindling oil revenue which require the full attention, commitment and swift action of distinguished members of the Senate.

“We are of the opinion that all matters political can and will be resolved politically in the overall interest of our democracy and the wellbeing of our people.”

One of the arrowheads of the impeachment move in the Senate, Senator Alkali Jajere, had   told journalists on Tuesday that there was no going back on the project.

He had said, “As of today, the required signatures to initiate the impeachment process had been obtained. The Senate has adjourned to December 16, so by that date the impeachment motion will be presented on the floor of the Senate.

“As of last week, 63 of us had signed up for the impeachment; my signature was the fourth but I can confirm to you that we have 63 signatures but after the session today two people had called and told me that they want to sign.

“One of them is an All Progressives Congress senator who was away doing campaign because he is contesting the governorship election of his state. The other person is a Peoples Democratic Party senator.

“Before the end of today I can assure you that the list will swell up to 70. It is on the impeachment day that we need two-thirds of the members to carry out the exercise but we need only one-third, which we already have, to initiate the process. It is just a matter of one day sitting. We will just push it before the two chambers.”

Jajere said he signed the impeachment motion because of his conviction that there were impeachable offences against Jonathan and that the process had been started early in the year but was truncated.

Vicar And Daughter Arrested Over Stillborn Baby

A vicar and his daughter have been arrested in connection with the death of her baby.

The Rev Jim Percival, 64, and Ruth Percival, 28, were taken into custody on Tuesday morning as police searched the family vicarage in the Lancashire village of Freckleton.

Officers were first called to the property a week ago following reports that a child had been stillborn.

But in the days that followed detectives grew increasingly suspicious about the death after carrying out ‘numerous inquiries’, a police spokesman told Metro.

The pair, who remain in custody, are also being held on suspicion of sex offences and conspiracy to conceal the birth.

A 65-year-old woman, said to be the vicar’s wife, Susan, has also been arrested.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and the cause of the baby’s death is yet to be confirmed.

Rumours began sweeping the village when Mr Percival, of Holy Trinity Parish Church, failed to attend the village’s Christmas lights ceremony on Monday.

One unnamed neighbour said: ‘He’s been here for about eight years and is well known among the community.’

President Jonathan Worse Than Nebuchadnezzar – Prof. Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, says President Goodluck Jonathan is worse than neo-Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, describing Jonathan as a President that embraces impunity.

According to the account of the Holy Bible, Nebuchadnezzar at the height of his reign became too arrogant and God tampered with his heart and made him to eat grass and live like an animal for seven years.

The title of the text Soyinka read at the briefing was, “King Nebuchadnezzar – The Reign of Impunity.”

The opening of the address read, “I shall not insist that the historical/biblical figure of Nebuchadnezzar is uniquely apt for the pivotal figure of the ‘democratic’ history in the making at this moment – for one thing, Nebuchadnezzar was a nation builder and a warrior.

“One could argue even more convincingly for the figure of Balthazar, his successor, or indeed Emperor Nero as reference point – you all remember him – the emperor who took to fiddling while Rome was burning. However you should easily recall why I opted for King Nebuchadnezzar – the figure that currently sits on the top of our political pile himself evoked it, albeit in a context that virtuously disclaimed any similarities, even tendencies.”

He blamed Jonathan for the security invasion of the National Assembly, during which lawmakers resorted to scaling the fence of the Assembly complex to gain access to the chambers.

He said, “The act of scaling gates and walls to fulfil their duty by the people must be set down as their finest hour. They must be applauded, not derided. If shame belongs anywhere, it belongs to the Inspector General of Police and his lavish adherence to illegal and unconstitutional instructions – to undermine a democratic structure, and one (to make matters worse) convoked in response to an emergency of dire concern.

“What sticks to this policeman (Abba) is worse than shame, it is infamy. Such a public servant deserves to be publicly pilloried, tried and meted a punishment that is appropriate to treasonable acts, if only to serve as a deterrent to others in positions of responsibility under the law. To demand less is to reduce ourselves below the status of free citizens of a free nation.

“For this latest outrage, one in an escalating series of impunity, the buck stops yet again at the presidency and that incumbent, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, continues to surprise us in ways that very few have conjectured.”

He said the split in Nigeria Governors’ Forum last year in which 16 governors had the final say over 19 other governors showed that the President was willing to do anything to achieve his political goals.

Soyinka said the barring of governors by policemen from entering Ekiti State to campaign for former Governor Kayode Fayemi in June showed that Jonathan was not only a dictator but was encouraging impunity by encouraging security agents to disrespect constituted authority.

He also berated the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, whom he said was appointed for the sole purpose of achieving Jonathan’s selfish ambition.

He said Jonathan was using ethnic sentiments to ensure his return to Aso Rock next year, describing the President’s recent visit to the Obafemi Awolowo University to consult with Yoruba leaders as appalling.

He said doing such on the same day Boko Haram attacked a mosque in Kano was irresponsible, adding that Jonathan’s quest for power had prevented his ability to think out a way to stop terrorists.

He said, “The shambles that punctuated a presidential campaign visit at the OAU a few days ago merely underline the total alienation of President Jonathan from the reality that has engulfed the nation.

“That a national leader should go campaigning on the platform of ethnic support at a time when priorities dictate a united national engagement for survival is a grotesque undertaking that was tragically rebuked in the massacre of worshippers and desecration of the Kano mosques almost simultaneously with the alienated gathering of selected crowned heads.

“Long before Nyanya, long before Chibok, long before the mildest of then now innumerable violations of our basic right to exist as free citizens, the march of a nation towards implosion has dominated the landscape but an obsession with the pettiness of power has obscured remedial vision and thus, the creative options constantly open to prescient leadership.”

Soyinka said the refusal of other countries to continue to help Nigeria in the fight against terrorism was because the foreign countries were cynical of Nigeria’s claim to fight insecurity.

He said by sacking a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gbenga Ashiru, at a time when Nigeria needed to strengthen its foreign policy, Jonathan had shown the he preferred to play politics than deliver the true dividends of democracy to the people.

He said insecurity would have been curbed if Nigeria had learned from what happened to Mali wherein al-Qeda militants brought the nation to its knees.

He said, “The lesson of Mali was completely lost on complacent leadership, however, leaving time and space for alien invaders to make common cause with the internal, unleashing detruction at will and dancing around a nation whose armed forces have acquitted themselves creditably on foreign missions.

“The architect of the initial policy of containment was the recently deceased Gbenga Ashiru, then Foreign Minister, unceremoniously removed for the ends of premature politicking, before the logical development of that initiative.

“Now of course, the very manipulators of Ashiru’s removal are falling over one another, to heap praises on the quality of his achievements in office.”

Soyinka said Nigeria had come to a point where citizens would now have to defend themselves since the government had failed to ensure the safety of the citizens.

However, the Presidency on Tuesday said Soyinka was only playing the ostrich by accusing Jonathan of being worse than King Nebuchadnezzar.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said, in a text message sent to one of our correspondents, that it was saddening that the Nobel Laureate also failed to apprehend Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, who he described as the “national champion of impunity and official recklessness.”

He said, “Our eminent professor also sadly plays the ostrich as he failed to reprimand Governor Amaechi who is the national champion of impunity and official recklessness.

“The administration of President Goodluck Jonathan proves itself as the most liberal, keeping faith with adherence to rule of law and tolerance.”

Heart-rate Of A Man As He Proposes...!?

There aren’t many things in a man’s life quite as nerve-wracking as getting down on one knee and proposing.

It’s a make-or-break question with potentially life-changing consequences – and now we have the data to prove how sweat-inducing the moment is.

This image of a guy’s heart-rate while proposing has gone viral.

It documents the lead up to one man’s Big Q as he takes his wife-to-be on a romantic trip to the Colosseum in Rome.

Romeo’s BPM stays at around 100 for much of the visit.

But as soon as he pops the question it shoots up to around 130 BPM.
