Widow Sleeps With Dead Husband's Decomposing Corpse For A Year After His Death (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

A woman had been sleeping next to her dead husband's decomposed corpse for one year until authorities made the grizzly discovery this week.

Apparently, 79-year-old "Marcel H." from Liege, Belgium, died back in November 2012 of an asthma attack, according to Carters News Agency. His wife was so upset that she failed to report the death and continued to sleep with the body until Belgian authorities made the bizarre finding on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

They were led to the apartment because the landlord claimed the couple hadn't paid their rent since last year. Neighbors never reported a bad smell. The body had mummified.

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES BELOW

"A body can mummify in a dry, warm environment," Philippe Boxho, pathologist at the Forensic Center of Liege told Carters. "It takes at least a week to reach such a state. In this case the body had rotten [sic] in the bed [and] his internal organs had melted and liquefied. ... Even though the smell of human decay is quite specific, many people equate that smell to the smell of garbage and once the body has become rotten the smell does decrease significantly."

Although this seems impossible, it has happened before.

Dr. Christian Hansch with the Department of Forensic Medicine at the University of Antwerp detailed an instance of mummification back in the 1970s. The body of a man who committed suicide in the cellar of his home in Belgium was found mummified 14 months (or 433 days) after his death. Hansch attributed this to the dry and well-ventilated environment.

"In such circumstances, the decomposition process is slowed down, while both drying-up and autolysis of tissues prevail," he wrote in a report detailing find.

Last year, a Michigan woman was found living with her boyfriend's mummified body months after his death. She had been cashing in his Social Security checks after he died, but she insisted she kept the body simply because she didn't want to be alone. She was later charged with forgery.

Kim Kardashian Unleashes Twitter Rant Over Report She Used Cosmetic 'Tricks' After Giving Birth

Kim Kardashian had some harsh words for the media following the publication of a tabloid story claiming she has spent thousands of dollars on cosmetic procedures to get her body back after baby.

The 33-year-old reality star appears on the latest cover of Life & Style magazine beside the headline, "Weight-Loss Cheater." The story claims Kardashian did not lose weight by going on the Atkins diet, but rather by getting secret cosmetic procedures done by Dr. Simon Ourian at Beverly Hills' Epione clinic -- like fillers, stretch-mark treatments and a fat-reducing ultrasound procedure on her stomach.

“Kim and other high-profile clients can sneak in through a back door," a supposed "source" from the clinic told Life & Style. “She even wore workout clothes to throw off the photographers and begged them to make it look like she was going inside to work out, not to get laser treatments."

But Kardashian was having none of the gossip Wednesday (Nov. 20) when she took to Twitter, lashing out at the mag for its false claims.

Sad Ending For Baby Who Came 'Back To Life' In Morgue

A morgue worker in Colombia got quite the shock last week when a baby, believed to be dead, came "back to life."

According to the Associated Press, the 27-week-old infant was declared dead at 3:20 a.m. on Nov. 13 about 35 minutes after she was delivered prematurely via cesarean section. Ten hours later, when the baby girl's family came to collect the body from the hospital's morgue, an attendant noticed something unusual: signs of life.

The 1.9-pound baby, whose lungs were not yet fully developed, was swiftly airlifted from the rural town of Quibdó to a hospital in nearby Bogota for treatment. However, the story of the infant's unusual revival does not have a happy ending; the baby girl, who was named "Milagros," or "Miracles," passed away in the hospital's specialized care unit Monday night, according to local media.

Initial reports hold that the infant died of respiratory failure.

At the time the baby was found alive in the morgue, doctors hailed the recovery as a miracle since the premature baby was able to survive for so long outside of an incubator.

While it's still not clear exactly what happened, one specialist in the area offered an explanation.

"In some cases the heart movements are not perceptible even though the newborn is alive, they can declare it dead,” Dr. Javier Zagarra told weekly magazine Semana, according to Colombia Reports. "When they wrap the baby in a sheet, upon receiving warmth, the baby can then revitalize."

Breaking News - Truck Kills Pregnant Woman, Four Pedestrians In Oshodi

No fewer than five persons, among them a pregnant woman, were killed in the Oshodi area of Lagos on Tuesday when a sand-bearing truck lost control, ramming into three stationary vehicles in a motor park in the ever-busy commercial area.

The Lagos State Police Command said the driver of the truck, which belonged to The Lord Chosen Church, had been arrested after the accident where at least five other people were injured.

A statement by the command Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, on Tuesday said the crash, which occurred at noon, was due to the failed brake of the truck, popularly known as tipper.

Braide’s statement read, “The Tipper with number plate JJJ 824 XD, which is owned by the Lords Chosen Church, lost control due to brake failure and ran into three stationary vehicles in the motor park.

“Five yet-to-be-identified female pedestrians lost their lives. One of the deceased was a pregnant woman, whose fetus also gushed out, bringing the casualty figure to six in number. About five people were also injured and they are currently receiving treatment at LASUTH.

“We have apprehended the driver of the truck whose name is Lawrence Nwaodu, aged 45 year. The four vehicles involved had been taken to LASTMA office while calm has also returned to the area as policemen were able to curtail the situation.”

The PPRO reminded motorists to ensure that their vehicles were road worthy at all times to “stem the rising tide of fatal motor accidents.”

Banker in court for defrauding house buyer

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday arraigned a banker, Chika Odigbo, before Justice D. Z. Senchi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, on one count of obtaining money under false pretence.

The EFCC said the complainant, one Ademola Oluwayemi, allegedly gave the accused, who was an employee of Intercontinental Homes Limited (now Access Bank) N10m to open a fixed deposit account which the accused told him was a criterion for buying a house from the bank.

The anti-graft body explained to the court that the accused allegedly converted the money to his use.

The count read,  “That you, Chika Tony Odigbo, on the 15th day of June, 2012, at Abuja, in the Abuja Judicial Division of the High court of the Federal Capital Territory, being entrusted with the sum of, N10m by one Mr. Ademola Oluwayemi of shop 16 Omega Centre, Wuse 11, Abuja, to open a fixed deposit account for him with the Intercontinental Homes Limited, did dishonestly converts to your own use the said sum and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 312 of the Penal Code Act Cap 532, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria ( Abuja) 2004”.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecuting counsel, Aisha Ibrahim, asked the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial. The defence counsel, Oladimeji Ekengba, urged the court to admit his client to bail.

Justice Senchi granted bail to the accused in the sum of N2m and one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned till February 3, 2014 for trial.

One Killed, Seven Injured In Expressway Accident

A commercial  bus and a mini-truck conveying margarine collided on the Arepo end of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday evening. It was learnt that one passengers was killed, while seven others sustained burns.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the accident was caused by a truck laden with noodles.

An eyewitness, Thomas Adelakun, said, “Trucks usually park on the side of the road. Around 5.45pm, one of the trucks was attempting to negotiate into the expressway but did not observe oncoming traffic.

“A passenger bus and a mini-truck laden with margarine, both on top speed, were driving by when the truck swerved in their direction. In a bid to avoid the truck, the bus swerved and  ran into the mini truck.

“The truck sped off. The margarine truck caught fire and it spread to the passenger bus.”

It was also learnt that the three occupants of the mini-truck came out alive but sustained severe burns.

The passengers of the bus were not as fortunate as the bus fell on its side, making it almost impossible for them to escape from the fire.

The driver of the bus exited the bus with injuries.

A few minutes later, policemen attached to the Ibafo Police Division and some rescue officials rushed to the scene and rescued five passengers from the bus.

“One of the passengers was screaming for help but unfortunately, no one could help him. He was roasted before the police arrived,” an eyewitness said.

A senior police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “Four women, two children and one official of the Federal Road Safety Corps were injured. They have been rushed to a hospital in Ibafo.

“Rescue efforts are still on but one corpse has been roasted inside the fire.”

The accident caused a gridlock on both sides of the expressway as motorists drove against the traffic.

As of 8.30pm, efforts were still being made to put out the flames.

Driver Strips Naked to Evade Arrest!!!

There was drama at the Palmgrove Bus Stop, Ikorodu Road, Lagos State, on Monday when a commercial bus driver stripped naked to avoid being arrested by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. The LASTMA officials had blocked five different commercial buses for indiscriminately taking passengers by the side of the road.

Passengers in the four vehicles were asked to alight, as officials of the traffic agency took over the wheels of the impounded vehicles. There was however drama when the old man who drove the fifth bus suddenly went inside his bus and brought out a bowl. A fetid odour emanating from the bowl polluted the fresh morning air.

The LASTMA officers, policemen and commuters ran for cover.

But one of the officials came back and stood his ground, wielding a baton and insisting that the man must follow them. When it became obvious that the odour strategy had failed, the driver began pulling off his clothes, prostrating by the front tyres of the vehicle and rolling on the floor.

A crowd formed around the area, with some of the bystanders capturing the scene with their camera phones. One of the officials was heard telling his colleagues to “leave him alone and let him go.”

However, they took close shots of the vehicle number plate, and the driver, before taking other seized vehicles away.

A resident who said he knew the old man well, said, “That is how the man usually does. His bus plies Lagos Island everyday and he picks his passengers from that spot.”

The source, who did not identify himself, added that it was the second time the man would put up the show. He said the bus was owned by a military officer. The old man was approached for comment, he refused to talk.

When he was, however, confronted with the allegation of being a serial offender, he said, “Look, whoever wants to talk should talk. Everybody has his problems and I have mine.” He drove the vehicle into a filling station.

Attempts to speak with LASTMA proved abortive. An officer who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone said he was not disposed to comment and referred him to another senior officer, who equally declined comment.

Police Arrest Ritual Killers In Jos

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested five persons in connection with the death of an 11-year old girl. They were said to have been arrested in the Filin Sukwa area of Jos North Local Government Area.

The girl, identified as Ummu Salma, was allegedly killed by the men, who removed some parts of her body ostensibly for ritual purposes.

Our correspondent gathered that the young girl was sent by her grandmother to buy a local snack, called masa. But when she did not return after a while, a search party was set up to look for her.

An eyewitness, Alhaji Abubakar Tanko, said, “The grandmother told us that she had sent the girl to buy masa for their breakfast.

“We visited the place where she went to buy the masa and it was confirmed that she had left. We were told that she returned to buy the same food for another person, identified as Auwalu Ajanguwa.”

Tanko said that Ajanguwa, upon interrogation, claimed to have seen one Nafiu, going up the hill with the girl, but after frantic search around the hills, the girl and Nafiu were not found. The mutilated body of Ummu was discovered the next day with her eyes and tongue removed.

Alhaji Habibu Nakande, who was one of those who found the girl’s lifeless body said, “We found her in one of the uncompleted buildings in the area, after arresting Nafiu.”

Tanko, who said Ajanguwa’s arrest led to the arrest of Nafiu, Rabiu alias Rabson and one other person said they were taken to the Nasarawa Police station in Jos.

The suspects were said to have claimed that they were paid N300,000 to supply human parts by one Alhaji Aminu, a shoe seller in Jos, who had been arrested.

Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Felicia Anselm, confirmed the incident.

She said, “Investigation is going on.”

Angry Residents Disarm, Arrest Armed Robber

Fed up with incessant robbery attacks on the community, residents of Oworonsoki Local Council Development Area of Lagos State on Friday defied death as they challenged four armed robbers suspected to have been terrorising the area.

They eventually ended up disarming the robbers and rounding them up. But three of the robbers managed to escape. One was, however, not that lucky. The suspect, who was identified as Eyinna, was said to have been beaten up by the mob before the arrival of the police at the scene.

The armed robber was said to have been caught because he could not run fast enough to escape the mob due to an injury he had on his foot.

An eyewitness, who craved anonymity for security reason, said the robbers had used the opportunity of the usual early morning traffic on the Olopo Meji end of the Oworonsoki Expressway, to rob car owners of their valuables.

Spurred on by the degree of their success, they were said to have tried to rob a woman of her Honda Accord car when the victim raised the alarm which drew the attention of residents.

He added that as the men dragged the steering with the woman, the car crashed into another vehicle which was also stuck in the early morning heavy traffic.

He said, “It was around 6am on Friday morning. People suddenly began hearing a woman screaming for help on Berger Bus Stop. We all rushed to the scene.

“When the robbers saw that the residents were not intimidated by their guns, they began to run. The people pursued them because they were determined to get them.

“Three of them escaped, but people got Eyinna while he was trying to scale the fence. We saw he could not run well because he was limping.”

He said a lot of money was found in the shoes of the suspect, while he was also found with handsets and other valuables. The source said the police were called to the scene after some of the angry residents had beaten Eyinna to stupor.

Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect died from injuries he sustained during the beating.

She said, “The Bariga Police Station indeed received a distress call that there was a mob action going on around Oworonshoki, Berger Bus Stop on Friday morning.

“They discovered that it was a four-man robbery gang, that was trying to drag the steering of a car from a woman.  The residents were able to apprehend only one of them. But the man could not talk, because he had been seriously injured. He died at the hospital where we rushed him to.”

Braide added that the owner of the damaged vehicle had made statements to the police on the incident.

Gunmen Storm Ekiti Hospital Demand New Born Babies

Five gunmen, suspected to be ritualists on Sunday invaded the government hospital in Ado-Ekiti, demanding for new born babies.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the gunmen who were said to be numbering about five, arrived at the hospital at about 1am demanding for a day old babies, and beating up staff who could not give satisfactory answer.

A senior health officer, who pleaded anonymity, said that the armed men invaded the hospital located along Irona area at about 1am and suddenly began molesting medical officials on night duty. According to the officer, the invaders, who were fully armed, are rhetorically demanding for the whereabouts of a particular baby, said to have been delivered earlier in the day.

“They got more annoyed when they were told that no baby was available in the hospital as at the time they came, it angered then the more and they went berserk,” the officer said.

This development, NAN learnt angered the men who beat up the hospital staff and injured some of them.

“As a senior person on duty, I tried to convince them that all new born babies have been discharged from the centre in the last couple of days, but they refused to be convinced.

“This angered them the more and they descended on the staff beating us, some of them were busy ransacking the place in search of babies,” the source said.

When contacted, the Chairman of Ado Local Government, Mr. Tope Olanipekun confirmed the incident, saying “this is a new twist to crime in the area.”

Olanipekun, who claimed to have visited the hospital to see things for himself, described the incident as “highest point of callousness on the part of the perpetrators.”

“As I speak, the incident actually happened and I want to assure you that we are taking step to forestall a recurrence.”

The chairman said that he had already ordered that night duty be suspended in all the hospitals in the council, pending when tight security measures, which would include fencing of all health centres be taken.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Babayemi, ASP, who was surprised at the development, however said the incident was yet to be reported to the police command.

MEND Demands Release Of Okah Brothers

Movement for the Emancipation of the  Niger Delta (MEND) has told Nigerian and South African governments to release Okah brothers and  other political hostages languishing in prisons.

It has also claimed responsibility for the killing of some soldiers and a policeman at the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) jetty in Port Harcourt.

MEND, in a statement issued yesterday evening by is spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, said  governments of the two countries should release the Okahs and others if they want peace and security to reign.

MEND debunked  the security report that the incident at Agip jetty was a foiled kidnap attempt. “We urge the governments of South Africa and Nigeria at this time to allow the bud of peace and security a chance to sprout by releasing the Okah brothers and other political hostages being incarcerated with trumped-up charges.

“On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, soldiers of the Joint Task Force (JTF), and a policeman, were killed around the Agip jetty in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, after trying to intercept MEND fighters on a reconnaissance mission. Contrary to speculations, they were not attempting to carry out a kidnap operation.”

Giving an update on ‘Hurricane Exodus’ from October  27 to November 16, 2013, MEND said:  “We first broke the news of the hostage release exclusively to Ms Debora Patta, of CBS news who was hesitant to use the information days before it was made public by a US State Department’s spokeswoman.

“Following the due process, a ransom of 2 million US dollars in cash was paid, with a larger percentage of it coming from an embarrassed Nigerian Maritime and Safety Administration Agency (NIMASA).”

It said further: “Some respite came to the oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region from October 27 – November 01, 2013 when ‘Hurricane Exodus’ was downgraded to a gentle breeze as a mark of respect to the late Vice Admiral Mike O. Akhigbe (Rtd) whose flagship finally sunk after a valiant and protracted battle with cancer.

“The late Vice Admiral Akhigbe (Rtd) was the leader of the disbanded MEND Aaron Team selected and mandated by the group to dialogue on its behalf with the government of the late President Musa Yar’Adua on issues that led to our insurgency before any amnesty could be considered. But, they were never given that opportunity after President Goodluck Jonathan became president following the death of President Yar’Adua.”

Man, 38, Tortured To Death

A 55-year-old mother in Ejilewe Ukwuagba Ngbo community, Ebonyi State, Mrs. Alice Nwakpu is now beset by deep regret for handing over her son to a vigilance group in their community on the suspicion that he                                           stole her two cellphones.

Rather than recover the phones, she got a dead son back: the young man was virtually tortured to death by the ‘do-good’ vigilante members.

According to Mrs. Nwakpu, she had only wanted the leaders of the Ejilewe Ukwuagba Neighbourhood Security Committee to punish her son, Ome Nwakpu, 38, she alleged had stolen her phones, but the group of vigilantes went beyond their brief.

Narrating the unfortunate incident, which he described as “terrible and ugly,” the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Police Command, Mr. Maigari Dikko told Sunday Sun that the vigilante tied Ome with a rope and tortured him for about 12 hours, apparently to extract a confession from him.

The ugly cycle of events that led to Ome’s untimely death began when his mother noticed that her phones had ‘developed wings’ and she accused him of stealing them. Probably not convinced with his denials, she reported the matter to one Dennis Eze, leader of the vigilance group.

Eze called some members of the group on phone and Ome was promptly arrested at about 6.00am and taken to their operational base for interrogation. They tied his hands with a rope and at some point in the course of the interrogation began to torture him.

Later that day, at 6.00pm, Ome was released to his mother. By then he was in great pain and could not walk well. Two days later he died.

CP Dikko disclosed that it was one Omeh Elijah, a lawyer, who reported the death of the victim to the police at Ohaukwu Police Station, stating that the young man died as a result of the torture meted out to him by the Ejilewe vigilance group.

Upon receiving the report, the police moved and quickly rounded up the alleged culprits, namely, Dennis Eze, 38; Emeka Eze, 25; Amo Eke, 55 and Onwe Edwin, 37.

Lamenting over her monumental error, Ome’s mother told Sunday Sun: “I have regretted what I have done. It was me that said my son, Ome Nwakpu stole my two phones and I reported him to the head of the vigilance group, Dennis Eze. They tied him with ropes and they tortured him.”

She explained further: “I bought a carton of beer and a bottle of hot drink for the vigilantes for a job well done. But later I saw that my son was weak and couldn’t walk properly. Two days later he died. I want my son to forgive me. I thought they would help me to warn him but I didn’t send them to beat him to death. I have explained to the entire family. This is beyond what I can explain, only God can deliver me from this predicament.”

Ome’s mother’s regret is now cold comfort to him as his body lies in the mortuary of Comprehensive Hospital, Ngbo, where it was deposited.

CP Dikko revealed that an autopsy conducted on the victim’s body to determine the cause of death found that Ome died of internal hemorrhage as a result of severe head and soft tissue injuries. He said that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

Maria Sharapova To Legally Change Her Name To "Maria Sugarpova"

Maria Sharapova plans to change her surname to ‘Sugarpova’ for the duration of the upcoming tennis Grand Slam, the US Open.

Former world number one Sharapova, the current richest female athlete in the world, has lodged an enquiry with the Supreme Court of Florida over a ‘quickie’ name change, which would then be changed back after the tournament concludes.

The idea, a publicity stunt for her outside business venture of branded candy, will reportedly also involve her sporting the ‘Sugarpova’ emblem – a striking pair of red lips – on her attire at Flushing Meadows.

The quite bizarre marketing move by Sharapova and her management company IMG looks likely to go ahead, too: there are no apparent legal barriers standing in her way.

Nonetheless, even with legal blessing she would likely also need the permission of the Grand Slam committee in order to see the thing all the way through, which would mean having stadium announcers, the umpire and even the scorecards address her as ‘Miss Sugarpova’ or ‘M. Sugarpova’.

Sharapova founded the company with her own money and it is estimated that 1.8 million bags of the sweets – which come with labels such as ‘flirty’, ‘sassy’ and ‘smitten’ – were sold worldwide last year.

The 2013 US Open begins on Monday and runs until September 9. Sharapova won the Grand Slam in 2006.

Wife SAWS Off Her Cheating Husband's Penis After Catching Him In Bed With Another Man

A woman has reportedly sawn off her husband's penis with a bread knife after catching him cheating on her with another man.

The Brazilian man and his penis were rushed to hospital but the organ could not be saved. The woman is believed to have waited several days before exacting revenge on her 28-year-old husband, who did not know she had found him in bed with a man at their home in Santos, southeast Brazil.

Then on Wednesday night she suggested the couple play out a sexual fantasy in which she would tie him up on the bed, which he readily agreed to, friends of the woman told Brazil's Globo G1 website.

But when he was completely immobilised, she took a bread knife from the kitchen and began to saw. The man was rushed to hospital, where doctors on Friday described his condition as stable.

But his penis "was not in a condition" to be transplanted, and he will probably have to use a catheter for the rest of his life, they said.

40 Pythons Found In Canadian Hotel Room

Little more than a week after a giant python crushed two young Canadian boys to death, police have recovered 40 of the snakes from a hotel room.

The reptiles were found in several plastic storage bins on Thursday night in a room in Brantford, Ontario, where a couple who had been evicted from their home were staying, police said in a statement.

Officers have opened a probe into the incident but they did not say where the couple were at the time or whether the pair would be charged with breaking local laws that prohibit owning pythons.

The snakes, which ranged in length from 30 centimetres to 1.4 metres, were in poor health and have been taken in by the Canadian Society for the Protection of Animals, where a veterinarian is monitoring them.

The find comes 11 days after Connor and Noah Barthe, aged six and four respectively, died in the eastern town of Campbellton, New Brunswick when an African python escaped from its terrarium and killed them.

The boys had been enjoying a sleepover with a friend, whose father’s private menagerie of exotic animals included the python.

Animal experts expressed astonishment at the tragedy, many of them noting that, while an African rock python is a dangerous animal capable of killing large prey, it would not normally attack humans.

The initial police investigation found that the snake probably managed to break out of its terrarium and then nosed through a ventilation duct which led into the boys’ bedroom.

Sham Marriage Exposed After Groom Turns Up With Three Different Brides

A man who attempted to set up a sham marriage to stay in the UK was caught by officials after his 'partner' failed to remember his name when booking the wedding and was then replaced by a different bride on the big day.

Chinedu Amadi, from Nigeria, had already raised suspicions among staff at Leicester register office when he struggled to remember his own address. His Hungarian bride also appeared to suffer a temporary blip in her memory as she failed to recall her future husband's name.

The fears of registrar Debra Webster were confirmed three months later when Amadi, 27, arrived for his wedding in January not only an hour late, but with a different woman. After being turned away, he returned to the same register office again – on Valentine's day. This time he was accompanied by a third woman, Hungarian Szilvia Basco-Porkolab, 38.

Despite his attempts to claim his bride only looked different because she had previously worn a wig, investigations by immigration officials revealed Amadi had paid a 'fixer' £5,000 to arrange a sham wedding to an EU national.

Authorities also found Basco-Porkolab had a mystery of participating in sham marriages, while the first bride was uncovered as Rubin Durgos, 39, of Coalville, Leicestershire.

All three brides along with Amadi were jailed on Thursday at Leicester Crown Court. Neil Bannister, prosecuting, told the court: "The offences came to light with the intended marriage, initially, between Durgos and Amadi.

"Durgos struggled to pronounce the first name of Amadi and he struggled to remember his address.

"Mrs Webster also thought the couple were being excessively affectionate and gained the impression they were trying too hard to demonstrate they were a couple."

Basco-Porkolab admitted two counts of conspiracy to breach immigration laws relating to sham marriages and was jailed for 34 months. Amadi and Durgos, admitting similar counts, were both jailed for 20 months.

Michael Jackson Glove: US Fights Dictator's Son

The US government is embroiled in a legal battle to stop a gem-encrusted glove worn by Michael Jackson falling into the hands of an African dictator's son.

The late singer's glove was bought with dirty money by Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo's son Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the US claims.

The latest hearing in the 28-month-old case - "United States of America v One White Crystal-Covered ‘Bad Tour’ Glove and Other Michael Jackson Memorabilia" - will be heard in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday.

In April 2011, US authorities seized assets worth some $71m (£45m) from Obiang Jr, who owns a collection of Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, a $38m (£25m) private jet, and a $30m (£20m) mansion in Malibu, California.

More than 70% of Equatorial Guinea’s population lives in poverty, but President Obiang and his cohorts have amassed huge fortunes through corruption, the US claims.

According to Washington's lawsuit, Obiang Jr, who was appointed forestry minister by his father, has "amassed over $300m in net worth, all while earning an income of less than $100,000 per year as an unelected public official appointed by his father."

Obiang Jr, 42, who first moved to America in 1991, is alleged to have laundered stolen public funds in banks across the globe.

Three years ago, the aspiring rap music mogul bought a number of items from Michael Jackson's estate, including the glove.

Last year, the French government seized a £68m mansion in Paris belonging to Obiang Jr, where they found millions more in luxury goods and cars, according to The Independent.

However, in April 2012, a California judge threw out the US government’s case, saying it had failed to prove that Obiang Jr had amassed his fortune by illegal means in Equatorial Guinea, where he had never been charged with any crime.

The US has now been allowed to file an amended version of its complaint.

Obiang Jr’s lawyers argued in a brief filed last month that the US still has no grounds to retain his pop souvenirs.

“The government still has not identified a single victim of extortion or bribery,” the papers said.

“In short, all that the government has is evidence that [the] Claimant spent money. Where the money came from is a matter of pure speculation.”

Bank Robbers Dump Their Swag Bag Full Of Cash In The Street After Crashing Their Getaway Car

Bank robbers left a bag full of cash in the middle of the road after their getaway car was involved in a violent crash.

The drama unfolded in Sale, Greater Manchester, when a man carrying cash into a bank was approached by two suspects wearing balaclavas. The alleged offenders then held a knife to the man's throat before stealing the money and getting into a Red Honda Accord and driving off.

The Accord had been involved in a collision with a silver BMW leaving both vehicles badly damaged. A 21 year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of robbery.

He remains in custody for questioning.

A second man, also in the car, is believed to have fled the scene. The occupants of the silver BMW are said to have suffered minor injuries. Part of the road was closed off whilst crime scene investigators combed the streets for evidence.

They recovered the bag of cash as well as other items from the car.

Verification: Edo Teacher Can't Read Own Certificate

                                  Watch video here:

IT was drama, Tuesday, at the venue of the verification of certificates of primary school teachers in Edo State, as a teacher in Asologun Primary School, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state, Mrs. Augusta Odemwinge could not read a sworn affidavit she purportedly tendered as part of her credentials.

The state governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, who paid an unscheduled visit to the state Staff Training Centre, venue of the exercise, said “if you can’t read, what do you teach the pupils, what do you write on the board?”

Chairman of the state Nigeria Union of Teachers, Mr. Patrick Ikosimi, who was also at the screening to monitor the exercise, said that the woman’s failure was “an embarrassment.”

On arrival at the centre, the governor took time to peruse some of the teacher’s credentials and documents presented.

When Mrs. Odenwingie took her turn during the exercise, the governor, who listened to her defence, asked her to read the affidavit she presented, but she stuttered, to the consternation of everybody around.

Ikosimi, who described Mrs. Odemwingie’s failure to read a document she presented as an embarrassment, said the union was in tune with the state government on the need to sanitise the school system.

He said: “We are committed to partnering the government to reposition education in the state. What this teacher has just displayed is a show of shame; it shows the decadence in the education sector.

“As the chairman of NUT, I had written to the governor that we are in total support of what he is doing.

“He should properly involve the NUT, so that together we can fish out the culprits, who are not viable as far as the system is concerned,” he said.

Massacre in Cairo: 'More Than 100 Dead' And 1,000 Injured After Egypt Is Rocked By Violent Clashes

At least 100 supporters of ousted Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi have been killed after deadly night of violence in Cairo. More than 1,000 protestors were also injured in the clashes with security forces in the east of the Egyptian capital.

Tensions flared near the Rabaah al-Adawiyah Mosque in one of the deadliest bouts of violence in Egypt’s turmoil following the Arab Spring uprising of 2011.

It followed a day of massive pro-military rallies backing a tough hand against Morsi’s backers and the Muslim Brotherhood group. Millions took to the streets answering a call from the head of the army, who said he wanted a mandate to stop ‘potential terrorism’ by Morsi supporters.

‘The army is here to protect the people. They don’t lie,’ said Ezzat Fahmi, a 38-year-old in the crowd.

He said the army had called the rallies ‘so the entire world can see that the Egyptian people don’t want the Brotherhood anymore’.

It comes almost three weeks after more than 50 people, mostly demonstrators, died in a similar outbreak of violence outside a military installation near the same sit-in.

A doctor at the scene said the number of casualties is likely to rise, with the Muslim Brotherhood claiming armed forces were ‘shooting to kill’.

Earlier, prosecutors opened an investigation against Morsi on charges including murder and conspiracy with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Beach Horror As Teenage Swimmer Dies In Shark Attack

A teenage girl has died after being savaged by a shark while swimming off a popular beach in Brazil.

Bruna Gobbi, 18, was waist deep in the sea when the killer bit into her leg. Horrifying video filmed from the beach shows a violent splash of water before the sea around the victim turns red with blood.

The footage then shows her being brought ashore with serious injuries to the lower part of her left leg. Much of her skin and flesh was missing, although her foot was still attached, according to local reports.

The teenage tourist was taken to hospital but died after surgery to amputate her leg around 15 inches above the knee. Bruna, from Sao Paolo, was visiting family in Boa Viagem, Recife, when she was attacked at the beach.

A man on a jetski is seen in the film helping bring the girl ashore.

Her cousin Daniele Gobbi told a Brazilian TV station: "The rescuers came in a matter of five minutes but to us it felt like five years."

Signs warning swimmers of previous shark attacks are displayed along the length of the beach and Bruna had been warned about the dangers of swimming in the sea, the TV station reported.

It said local authorities have asked the Brazilian government to ban swimming in areas prone to shark attacks.

According to a government agency there have been 21 shark attacks - ten of them fatal - in Boa Viagem since 1992.

Bruna is thought to be the first woman killed by a shark since the records began.

Horror Train: 77 Killed, 131 Injured After Disaster In Spain

A TRAIN is strewn across tracks last night after it derailed in Spain - killing at least 77 people and injuring 141 more. All 13 carriages careered off the line and some caught fire. Passengers were crushed as the wagons piled on top of each other.

Today investigators were probing claims the express may have been going at more than TWICE the 50mph speed limit when it crashed on a bend.

The train, packed with 218 passengers, crashed two miles from Santiago de Compostela in North-West Spain. Many victims were on their way to a religious festival due to take place in the city today.

One British person has been injured the tragedy which occurred 8.40pm local time — 7.40pm UK time.

Last night scores of bodies were lined up covered by blankets as rescue workers clambered over the twisted metal to pull the injured to safety.

Television footage showed one man on top of an overturned carriage using an axe to smash windows to reach passengers trapped inside.

Officials in Galicia said 73 victims were found dead at the crash scene and another four died in hospital.

The train was travelling from Madrid to the port city of Ferrol when it jumped the track on a curve.

Passenger Richardo Montesco said: “It was going so quickly. It seems that on a curve the train started to twist and the wagons piled up one on top of the other. A lot of people were squashed on the bottom.

“We tried to squeeze out of the bottom of the wagons to get out and realised the train was burning. I was in the second wagon and there was fire... I saw corpses.”

Bodies were covered with blankets on the tracks as rescue teams used cranes to lift carriages.

Officials said it was too early to say what caused the tragedy — thought to be the worst rail disaster in Spain’s history.

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who was born in Santiago de Compostela, is to visit the site this morning.

Cybercriminals Hijack Royal Baby

Cybercriminals have already taken advantage of the whirlwind of excitement surrounding the birth Prince of Cambridge, warned internet security experts today.

Malicious emails promise the latest video news - but instead deliver Trojan software into PCs, including one known to steal online banking information.

The email claims to come from a company called ScribbleLive, a popular media marketing service.

Clicking any of the links in the email prompted users to upgrade their Flash player plugin, but in fact downloaded a Trojan known to be used to steal personal details, including online banking information.

Security expert Graham Cluley said, “ It’s very likely that we will see more of this kind of attack. There are several common tricks hackers use – it could be asking you for a username and password to see photos of the baby, or making you complete an innocuous-looking survey.”

Social networks are another fertile ground for hackers to sow dangerous material. At the time of the announcement of the birth, 23,500 tweets mentioning the Royal baby were sent per minute.

“People should be careful what they’re clicking on Facebook and Twitter,” said Cluley.
“Links can be automatically generated to include the trending hashtags. There are also a lot of joke pictures doing the rounds – if you get into the habit of clicking on them as soon as they’re posted, you’re less likely to be careful about where they come from.”

This is not the first time that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been used by hackers to spread viruses.

When their engagement was first announced, hackers were quick to hijack the most popular search engine image results – with the result that clicking on an apparently innocent picture of the couple led to a warning message asking users to download fake antivirus software, which was in fact malware designed to take over PCs and steal data.

In 2011, a story posted on Aol.co.uk about a ‘Pregnant Kate Middleton’ children’s doll was found to have been infected by hackers. Visiting the page would attempt to run malicious software in the background without users’ knowledge.

Boy Of 12 With A ‘Tail’ Growing From His Back Is Hailed As God

This boy of 12 with a “tail” growing from his back has been hailed as a god in India. Followers flock to Arshid Ali Khan’s temple - often leaving cash or gifts in return for a blessing.

They believe the youngster - Balaji to his devotees - is the reincarnation of Hindu monkey god Hanuman. But doctors say he has meningocele, a form of spina bifida where the spinal cord develops abnormally.

Balaji, who lives with his grandparents near Chandigarh, said: “I love my tail. It’s a gift from God. It’s unusual but people respect me and bow before me because of it. I feel special.”

Doctors say if the growth is not removed, Balaji’s twisted limbs could become worse.
