Police Inspector Dies While Fighting Wife

A police inspector, attached to a division in Apapa, Lagos, Inspector Danjuma Daniel, on Thursday afternoon died during a fight with his wife.

It was learnt that the scuffle between Daniel and his wife got so physical that the couple fell from the balcony of their apartment ─ a two-storey building. The couple, it was learnt, was staying at the Ijeh Police Barracks, Obalende, Lagos.

Information gathered revealed that the police inspector and his wife, identified simply as Ada, who had lived in the barracks for about 10 years, sustained grave injuries from the fall.

It was further gathered that when they were rushed to a nearby hospital, Daniel was said to have been confirmed dead by the medical personnel, while the wife was admitted for treatment.

It was also learnt that Ada, a trader in a nearby market, was discharged from the hospital on Saturday morning.

The deceased inspector’s first son, Emmanuel, said he was informed about his father’s death on the telephone.

Daniel explained that he was staying with an uncle in the Mile 2 area of the state.

He said, “I don’t know what could have caused the fight. I was not at home. Dad and mum have lived in this barracks for about 10 years now.

“We were formerly staying in Nasarawa State where dad initially served. In Lagos, I don’t stay with them, but my two sisters do. Mum has returned from the hospital, and she is back home now, but she cannot talk to anyone for now.”

However, it was learnt from a resident that Daniel, an Eggon man from Nasarawa State, had had clashes with his wife before the incident. The source added that the fight on Thursday turned ugly and led to their falling off from the two-storey building.

Man's Hairy Chest Is Contributing Factor In Plane Death

A man died after suffering a heart attack on board a plane – but cabin crew did not use a defibrillator in a bid to revive him because his chest was too hairy, his wife claims.

Caroline and Jack Jordan were on the Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Albuquerque when the incident happened.

Fellow passengers performed CPR, but despite their best efforts, Mr Jordan died.

His wife said a defibrillator was on board but was not used because of her husband’s hairy chest.

'The flight attendant that had been right up there with us said because his chest is too hairy,’ she said.

‘I don’t expect the airlines or the flight attendants to be nurses or doctors, but in that kind of a circumstance one of the first things that they should be doing is getting that AED hooked up.’

A defib kit comes with scissors and razors. Eventually his chest was shaved but by this time it was too late.

A Southwest Airlines spokeswoman said the airline is looking into the incident.

The fiesta celebrations were abandoned following the teenager’s death.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's Divorce Splits Christ Embassy Members

Members of the Christ Embassy are divided over a divorce suit filed against the Senior Pastor of the church, Chris Oyakhilome, by wife, Anita, in a London court.

Oyakhilome is the President of the Believers’ Love World Incorporated, the registered name of the Christian ministry, while his wife is the Vice President.

Some members of the church on a Facebook page, ‘Where is Rev. Anita Oyakhilome,’ which is believed to have been opened by Anita’s fans, expressed differing opinions on the matter.

On Saturday, one of the church members, Ijeoma Olive Ehirim said, “I am a Christ Embassy member. I hate one thing there: How can a pastor be working together with a lady hand in hand, attending meetings and lodging in a hotel for days. My girlfriend travels with our branch pastor annually for PPCF which holds in Lagos. Only God knows.”

Sharing a similar view, Samantha Iwowo, described adultery as one of the grounds for divorce.

Iwowo said, “Pastor Chris Oyakhilome must have been discovered compromising his marital bed business. It is what it is. God says judgement will start from His house. ‘Touch not my anointed’ is God’s instruction regarding all His children, not an individual nicking, scheming, threatening monies off people’s purses and telling them that salvation is tied to tithes and that seed sowing is only money donation to the church/pastor’s coffers. One down, more to roll. Christ be praised.”

In her post, Chinyere Okechukwu-George, claimed to have left the church when she observed some irregularities.

“I and my family left Christ Embassy for our own good after worshiping there for three years plus and seeing all the things going on under the disguise of church. And I can comfortably say that for over a year now, we have had so much peace in our Christian lives. I don’t care how you view my comment but truth must be told.”

Joseph Osagiede, however, responded saying the Oyakhilomes were still together.

He said, “I have been in Christ Embassy for 12 years. All is totally well with thier marriage. All those wishing them to split and also those going about saying nasty things about the church, be careful.”

Faith Ebunoluwa Adetayo also said, “I have been in Christ Embassy since 1990s and I can authoritatively say some things: I have seen the power of God work, demonstrated in healings and many other things. I have seen how that Pastor Chris is less concerned about mistakes we make.

“He believes that these sins of the flesh will disappear, only if we listen to the word of God. Rather than condemning us, he speaks words of encouragement. And for your information, Pastor Anita is still very much in the ministry and she’s with her darling husband.”

Meanwhile, the Christ Embassy has kept mum on the divorce case.

A telephone call was made to the church and a woman, who picked call to the Nigerian office of the church on Saturday, said she had no information to give on the matter.

When asked to confirm if the divorce suit was true or not, she simply said, “I have no information to give on the matter.”

When another call was made to the church thorough another number, the respondent, who identified herself as Pastor Christabel, said the church had no information about the case.

“No, we have no information on the matter,” she said.

An online newspaper, The Cable, had reported on Friday that the divorce case, with Suit No FD14D01650, was filed on April 9, 2014 at the Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, the United Kingdom, on Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors.

Anita reportedly filed for dissolution of the marriage between her and her pastor husband, which produced two teenage daughters – Sharon and Charlyn – on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery.”

Powerful Nigerians Don't Want Abducted Chibok Girls Rescued - Negotiator

The President, Civil Rights Congress, Mr. Shehu Sani, in an exclusive interview, disclosed that some powerful Nigerians are sabotaging the efforts of the Federal Government and other concerned citizens to ensure that the over 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram are set free.

Sani, who has been involved in efforts to get government and Boko Haram to discuss the fate of the girls in the past, said some powerful individuals, whom he refused to name, ensured that the talks derailed.

Sani’s disclosure came even as it was learnt that government had begun fresh talks with the group to secure the release of the girls.

Reports have claimed that the girls who were kidnapped from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, have been sighted in camps inside Sambisa Forest, in some border towns near Cameroon and in the Central African Republic.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Sani; and a United Arab Emirates-based Nigerian freelance journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who had communication channels with Boko Haram, had offered to mediate between the government and the sect. But none of these efforts have yielded fruits.

There have been speculations that recently President Goodluck Jonathan and Obasanjo held a meeting to discuss how to negotiate the release of the girls.

Sani, who is one of the negotiators facilitating the current talks, confirmed that government and the sect had started another round of talks for the release of the girls. However, he expressed fears that the powerful Nigerians who sabotaged earlier talks might derail the ongoing talks if care was not taken.

“What I want to tell you is that something is being done about it but I’m not disposed to making it public. Most times, publicising these issues always lead to sabotage by those who do not want the girls freed. I will not mention the names of these Nigerians.

“However, I can tell you that real and genuine moves are going on, which I am a part of. The claim that the girls have been abandoned is not true. There are genuine efforts by government and some individuals, who are discreetly making efforts toward getting their (pupils’) safe return home.”

The human rights activist noted that the girls could only be freed either forcefully or through dialogue and negotiation.

He added that the foreign intervention sought by some Nigerians had not produced results.

The United States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Israel had offered to assist Nigeria in rescuing the school girls.

Both the US and the UK had sent security experts and technology to locate the abductees and secure their release. While the US claimed to have located the girls, France had specifically opposed negotiations with the sect.

Speaking on efforts made by these countries so far, Sani said, “I am not aware of any serious efforts made by any foreign country. I am not aware of what is happening on the side of the US forces. From the side of dialogue or negotiation, I have not seen any serious intervention or involvement of these countries.”

Similarly, the Convener, Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, said some powerful forces had been frustrating efforts to free the girls

The Second Republic lawmaker said, “Powerful forces have proceeded to stall the negotiation over certain political gains.”

Confirming the negotiation plan, the President, Kibaku Youth Association of Nigeria (a community in Chibok Local Government Area), Mr. Moses Zakwa, said that the Federal Government engaged the services of an Australian negotiator.

He, however, said he was not aware if any Nigerian was engaged by the government for talks with the sect.

Zakwa said, “Some weeks ago, we understood that the Federal Government hired a private negotiator who has been working in regards to the release of the Chibok girls. Every person in Chibok and Borno State knows too well that a former governor of the state is the founder of Boko Haram. Everybody sees him like a semi-god that cannot be touched by any authority.”

Zakwa also revealed that the Chibok community had resolved to protect itself against further attacks from Boko Haram. He also dropped hints that the community might take the fight to the Islamic sect.

He said, “What I want to assure you is that the community and its indigenes are ready. We want to take the bull by the horn. Whatever it will cost us, we are fully ready to face members of Boko Haram. I want to assure you that an earthquake will soon happen and Nigerians will be happy with what we plan to do.”

However, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Pan Chibok Youths Association, Dr. Allen Manasseh, told our correspondent that he was not aware of any ongoing talks between the government and the sect.

He said, “I am not aware of any negotiation because I am not privy to that information yet. As I am speaking to you, I am in Chibok and I don’t know when negotiation started or how far they have gone with the negotiation. But if they have started negotiation with Boko Haram, then it is okay by us.”

Manasseh, however, expressed doubts about the Federal Government’s resolve to rescue the girls. While describing the ongoing efforts as belated, the Chibok youth leader said the government had had enough time to rescue the girls.

He said, “That is where my scepticism will come in because the girls in captivity are over a hundred and if the Federal Government is willing to negotiate with whoever is holding them captive, then it has taken too long for them to do that.”

The Northern Elders Forum had on August 11, 2014, given President Jonathan up to October to produce the schoolgirls or forget his 2015 presidential re-election bid.

An ex-Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Solomon Dalung, at a press briefing on behalf of the forum said the failure of the President to produce the Chibok girls and tackle other security challenges in the land, amounted to the forfeiture of his rights to ask for another mandate to lead Nigeria beyond 2015.

“In the light of our firm conviction that the insurgency and related security challenges pose threats to the 2015 elections and the survival of our nation, we strongly advise President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to bring an end to the insurgency in all its manifestations and produce the Chibok girls before the end of October 2014,” Dalung stated.

But Jonathan had reacted through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, saying he was already working on how to rescue the abducted girls.

“President Jonathan does not require any threat or ultimatum from any group of persons to be alive to his responsibilities to the Nigerian people,” Okupe had said.

Efforts to get the Presidency to confirm the said negotiation on Friday proved abortive.

Several calls made to the telephones of both the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, were not picked. Also, they did not respond to a text message sent to them.

Last Monday, a United States-based journal, Foreign Policy, listed the girls’ rescue as one of the missions that had been “forgotten” by the US government.

According to the magazine, the rescue of the girls is one of ‘The Pentagon’s top five “forgotten missions.”’

In a report titled ‘Forgotten Mission,’ which was published on Monday, the journal said there was no end in sight for the US mission in Nigeria to free the schoolgirls.

The abduction had called global attention, especially through a social media campaign with the hash tag, #BringBackOurGirls.

Foreign Policy recalled that President Barack Obama’s administration had deployed manned and unmanned aircraft to find the girls.

“It also dispatched advisors from the State and Defence departments, as well as the FBI. In late May, 80 troops (were) deployed in Chad to support and maintain unarmed Predator drones providing the mission with surveillance,” Foreign Policy added.

The journal further said, “Approximately 60 girls have escaped but the rest remain missing. Other missions said to have been forgotten by the US government included the hunting down of Joseph Kony of the LRA in Central Africa; destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons; NATO air policing; and the US operations in Afghanistan.

A New York Man In Prison For Murdering Son Charged In Wife's Death

A New York man who is already in prison for murdering his son is now facing new murder charges in California for the death of his first wife.

Karl Karlsen, 54, who is currently serving 15 years to life at a prison in upstate New York for killing his son Levi Karlsen, was charged today with first-degree murder in the 1991 death of his wife, Christina Karlsen, who is also Levi's mother. She died on Jan. 1, 1991 in a fire at their family home in California. Her death had been initially ruled an accident.

Barbara Yook, the district attorney for Calaveras County, charged Karl Karlsen with one count of murder during the commission of arson. Yook declined to comment on the case.

Unlike his case in New York state, if convicted in this new case in California, Karlsen could face the death penalty. A court date has yet to be announced.

Daughter of Murder Suspect Karl Karlsen Believes Father Killed Her Brother, Mother

NY Man on Trial for Son's Murder Says He Left Him to Die in Never-Before-Heard Tape

Family Suspicion of N.Y. Man Leads to Reopening of Two Murder Investigations

Levi Karlsen, 23, was crushed to death in 2008 when the truck he was working on slipped off a jack and landed on top of him. His death was initially ruled an accident, but prosecutors later claimed Karl Karlsen killed him so he could collect a $700,000 life insurance payout.

During his trial last year, Karlsen admitted he rigged the jack so the truck would fall on Levi, and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in November 2013.

New York authorities started investigating Karlsen after his second wife, Cindy Karlsen, came forward last year and told police of her suspicions of Karlsen's involvement with Levi's death. Authorities in California then opened an investigation into Christina Karlsen's death. That investigation was concluded this week.

Karl Karlsen collected a $200,000 life insurance payout after his first wife died, but hadn't been charged in anything related to her death until now.

Christina and Karl Karlsen’s daughter Erin told ABC News' "20/20" in a 2013 exclusive interview that she was always suspicious of her father.

"We knew what he had done to our mother, and I knew what he did to my brother," Erin said at the time.

Erin was 6 years old when she, Levi and their sister Katie escaped from the house fire that killed their mother. According to Erin, their father helped his children get outside safely, and then they stood and watched the house burn.

"I didn't understand that my mother was behind that wall dying," Erin told "20/20" at the time, adding that her father "didn't make an effort to save her. He just stood there."

A week after the fire, Karl Karlsen and his three children left California for upstate New York to be near his family, and he eventually remarried.

As they got older, Erin said she and Levi started to wonder if their father had been responsible for their mother's death. However, when they confronted him about it, Erin said, "his biggest concern was that he wondered what the community would think of his own children accusing him of murdering their mother."

Girl Dies When Large Hole Collapsed On Oregon Beach

A girl playing on an Oregon beach died today when a large hole she was playing in collapsed and buried her, officials told ABC News.

Frantic efforts by others on the beach were unable to rescue the 9-year-old girl.

“When we arrived on the scene with some of our officers, people were trying to dig the girl out of a fairly large hole, but the thing kept collapsing back in on them,” Lt. Jerry Palmer of the Lincoln City police department said.

“When they finally got her out she was unconscious and not breathing,” Palmer said.

Fire Rescue Capt. Jim Kusz said the girl was under the sand for about five minutes.

Palmer said his officers did CPR on the girl until medics arrived, but when she was taken to the hospital "she was not breathing." She was later pronounced dead.
The lieutenant said he did not know whether the girl, who was not immediately identified, had dug the hole or was playing in a hole that she had found on the beach.

Suspected Cult Members Kills Teenager In Lagos

An 18-year-old man, identified only as Sunday, was killed on the Onajimi Street, Somolu area of Lagos on Friday.

It was learnt that the deceased’s stomach was slashed with a broken bottle before the seven-man gang strangled him to death.

Information gathered from sources that those who killed Sunday, were suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity.

A source, who was at the scene of the incident, said, “It happened on Friday afternoon. Sunday had been away from the area for sometime because he feared he would be killed by the men. His mother had also told him to stay away.

“But on Friday, he suddenly showed up on a visit to his parents. He was first at Oyeyemi Street, where he drank with some of his friends.

“In the afternoon, he went to his mum’s shop at Onajimi, where she was selling noodles.

“He was eating noodles when a member of the Eiye gang spotted him, and came around with some other members.

“While the others were in hiding, he came to take a second look at him to be sure he was their target. He then signaled to the rest to come out of their hiding.”

Another source said, “The men, numbering seven, grabbed the teenager and shot him twice in the chest, hacked him with cutlasses, broke a bottle and slashed him from the armpit down to his stomach. When they saw he was still breathing, they strangled him.”

The attack caused panic in the area as residents shut their doors and shops.

Late in the afternoon, our correspondent learnt that some friends of the victim took his corpse to Popoola Street, which was not far from Onajimi Street.

A source said the boys took the corpse to the front of the house of a landlord, whose son was suspected to be a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

He said, “They dropped his corpse there and began vandalising th+e property. They asked all the tenants in the house to leave because they would return to burn it down.”

On Saturday evening, when our correspondent visited the area, there was fear and tension. Many of the streets were deserted as residents said they were expecting a reprisal from the Aiye Confraternity, another group in the area.

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lelma Kolle confirmed the incident.

A detailed account of the police investigation into the incident is yet to be obtained.

Hip-hop Mogul Suge Knight Shot In Los Angeles

Hip-hop music mogul Suge Knight was among three people shot and injured early on Sunday morning at a nightclub in West Hollywood, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

"We can confirm that the person known as Suge Knight has been identified as one of several victims in a shooting in West Hollywood," a spokesman for the department told Reuters.

Knight, 49, and another man, aged 32, and a woman, 19, were wounded, transported to local hospitals and expected to recover, the department said in a statement.

TMZ entertainment news website reported that Knight was leaving a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party at the 1OAK club on Sunset Strip and that he was in intensive care after undergoing surgery at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. TMZ said he had multiple bullet wounds.

An MTV spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Cedars-Sinai would not confirm or deny that Knight was a patient, citing privacy laws.

Knight, whose real name is Marion, co-founded Death Row Records, a label that produced major rap hits in the early 1990s from artists such as Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Knight's hip-hop empire declined in the mid-1990s after he went to prison for a parole violation, Shakur was murdered and Dr. Dre left the Death Row label.

Landlady's Children Arraigned For Cutting Tenant's Private Parts

The police have arraigned two men– Olowogbemi Solomon (24) and Olayeye Damilola (22) – for allegedly robbing a tenant, Olayinka Offehin, and cutting his scrotum.

The incident happened in the Ikotun area of Lagos.

It was reported on July 31 that the men, who were children of Offehin’s landlady, attacked Offehin and his family members while they were asleep.

It was also reported that the two men allegedly stole N800, 000, and cut the scrotum of the victim during the incident.

The police arraigned the duo before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court on three counts of robbery and attempted murder.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Cousin Adams, said the offences were punishable under sections 295, 228 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

The charges read in part, “That you, Olowogbemi Solomon and Olayeye Damilola, did attempt to unlawfully kill one Olayinka Offahin by slicing his scrotum with knife….”

Adams asked the court to remand the defendants in prison for the first 30 days pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

However, the defence counsel, Ojieh Friday, said the charges preferred against the defendants were “frivolous”.

He said, “This is basically a tenancy issue; there was no robbery. At worse, this should be a case of assault occasioning harm. The charges were written in bad faith and we want the court to look into this.”

The Magistrate, F.J. Adefioye, asked the Investigating Police Officer, Sergeant Moses Godgift, of the Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, to tell the court the outcome of police investigation.

Godgift said, “In the course of our investigation, the following facts were brought to light.

“The two defendants and the complainant were living in the same building. The defendants were the stepsons of the landlady.

“The men, in an attempt to kill the complainant, stabbed him on his scrotum. They also robbed him of his money and property. It was based on these findings that they are arraigned before your honour.”

The magistrate ruled that the two defendants should be remanded in custody.

“Having listened to the prosecutor, and conducted a preliminary investigation by hearing from the IPO, this court is convinced that there is probable cause for remand. This court therefore upholds the application of the prosecutor and rejects the request of the defence learned counsel.

“The defendants are to be remanded in prison for the first 30 days pending legal advice from the DPP,” he said.

The matter was adjourned till September 17, 2014.

Nick Cannon Walks Out On Marriage To Mariah Carey

Nick Cannon is reportedly claiming that he walked out in his marriage to Mariah Carey amid concerns for her 'emotional state'.

Cannon recently confirmed reports of trouble in the couple's six-year marriage as he admitted they are no longer living together with sources close to the performer telling TMZ that it was Nick's decision to end their union and he is worried about their three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

According to TMZ: 'Nick has made it clear to all involved ... he's deeply concerned about Mariah's emotional state and is ending the marriage for the well being of their kids. He believes the environment around Mariah is toxic and fears for his kids.'

MailOnline has contacted representatives for the stars for comment.

The sources added to the website that Nick is also worried Mariah's handlers are most concerned with her making money and do not care about her well-being.

He is also said to want to create an environment for the twins which is free from the 'chaos' of Maria's life.

Speaking with The Insider on Thursday, Cannon, 33, explained,:'There is trouble in paradise…we have been living in separate houses for a few months.'

After shooting down rumours that cheating caused the break, the star said his three-year-old twins are his 'main focus'.

The next day a representative for the 44-year-old icon told Us Weekly, 'Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour.'

The beauty's longtime spokesperson prefaced her remark by saying, 'I don't comment on Mariah's personal life.'

Nick and Mariah married in 2008 following a whirlwind two month romance.

They appeared to have a blissfully happy marriage but TMZ recently reported Mariah was furious when Nick revealed a list of five celebrities he had slept with during a very candid interview with Power 106 radio.

Mariah was left feeling 'humiliated' following the interview, which also featured him revealing when he first had sex with his wife.

Sources close to the couple say their marriage started to unravel in March following Nick's interview, when he reflected on his short romance with Kim Kardashian back in 2006.

He claimed he had too many ex-lovers to list them all, saying: 'Are you kidding me this is L.A.? That's the whole purpose of it, you have sex with actresses, singers, models.'

When told he could just name five, the star had his list ready: 'That's easy. OK, Mariah Carey, Christina Milian, Nicole Scherzinger, Selita Ebanks, oh, Kim Kardashian.'

He then elaborated about Kim, now married to rapper Kanye West, saying: 'You just forgot (about her) because there have been a lot of people since me.'

In an interview with another station a week later, he tried to backtrack over his comments and praised his wife's sex skills.

He said: 'She doesn’t even know who Kim Kardashian is. She doesn’t pay attention to that.

'She doesn’t care when I talk about our sex life because our sex life is amazing.'

Police Arrest Herbalists Who Bought Human Skulls For N30,000

Police in Lagos State has arrested two suspected human parts dealers who allegedly bought and sold human skulls in parts of Ogun and Lagos states.

It was learnt that the suspects ─ Muritala Mustapha and Sunday Oluyeba ─ were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command after a tip-off.

It was further learnt that while Mustapha was arrested last Saturday, August 16, in the Ojumele area of Sagamu, Ogun State. Oluyeba was apprehended on Monday in the same area.

The police said 42-year-old Mustapha was caught with two human heads in his house, adding that he confessed to have obtained them from his friend, Oluyeba.

After the police had arrested Oluyeba, 44, he also told the SARS operatives that he got the skulls from one herbalist, identified simply as Baba Ibeji, who the police said was still at large.

During interrogation, the suspects, who were also herbalists, confessed that they bought the human skulls for N30,000 and used them to treat their patients.

Mustapha said the human parts could be used for the treatment of pregnant women having delivery problem.

He said, “I started out as native doctor in 1992. That was after my secondary school education. I was treating ailments such as diabetes, stroke, and hypertension. I treated barren women too. I knew Oluyeba about three years ago. He is also a native doctor. We paid N30,000 to obtain the human skulls from Baba Ibeji.

“I normally used the skulls to treat pregnant women who had problem with child delivery. We would grind these parts and mix them with some soap. That was all. On this particular occasion, I did not know I was being followed by a police informant. It was at the point of another purchase that they arrested me.”

Mustapha, a father of one, added that there were other native doctors and traditional chiefs in his area who bought human parts for healing.

Oluyeba, however, claimed to have bought the human parts for a friend and not for his use.

He said, “Yes, I collected money to get the human parts, but it was not for my use. I am a native doctor, but I use only herbs and soap. I knew Baba Ibeji as a human parts seller and I had warned him on several occasions to desist from the evil trade, but he refused.

“I am married. I have three children. I cannot use human parts for any concoction. This is an embarrassment caused by my friends.”

Meanwhile, Baba Ibeji’s wife, identified simply as Adenike, said her husband was not a responsible man at home.

The 35-year-old mother of two said, “I only know him as a native doctor. I am his second wife. I sell provisions, and he does hunting and native medicine. He does not have money. He does not take care of his family. He has not given us money for the past three months. So, I doubt if he is into such things. Otherwise, we should be wealthy.”

Teenager With Hole In Her Heart Told She Cannot Have Operation...Until She Has A Heart Attack

A teenage girl with a hole in her heart has been told that she cannot have an NHS operation to fix it – unless she has a heart attack.

Carla Maclean, from Abbeydale in Gloucestershire, was found to have a hole in her heart three years ago during a routine check-up.

However despite suffering regularly from palpitations, breathlessness and headaches, the NHS have refused her an operation, saying she would have to experience a ‘major episode’ – in other words, a heart attack.

‘When we went for the meeting I thought the specialist was going to give me a date for the operation, not tell me I couldn’t have it,’ said Carla.

‘The NHS will only fund it if I have a heart attack or a stroke.

‘I’m worried I may drop dead if I exercise or do anything too strenuous.’

Cardiologists told Carla that a private procedure would guarantee her health, but the operation costs £16,000.

Carla is attempting to take matters into her own hands – writing to her local MP and fundraising – but she says her condition is having a damaging effect on her everyday life.

‘I can’t work, every time I exercise I feel like someone is punching me in the chest and I’ve had so many knock-backs I’m on anti-depressants now,’ she said.

A spokesperson for the NHS said: ‘Patent Foramen Ovale closure [Carla's defect] is not routinely commissioned by the NHS and would only be considered if the case is deemed exceptional by the individual’s clinician.’

Newly-wed Husband & Wife Who Look Like Identical Twins

They appear to be two young women who are tying the knot in a same-sex marriage – but when you delve deeper, the reality is considerably more complicated.

This is because the brides, who appear near identical in their wedding photos, are actually a heterosexual couple living in Russia, where gay and lesbian unions are forbidden and frowned upon in public.

On the right is Dmitry Kozhukhov, who prefers to be called Alina Davis. The 23-year-old, born male, labels herself as ‘androgyne’, which means she doesn’t fit neatly into one gender identity. That said, Alina feels more comfortable as a woman – and remains strongly attracted to other females.

She has tied the knot with Alison Brooks, 19 – and one of the main challenges they faced was being accepted into a registry office in Moscow if they both wore bridal dresses. Despite outrage from staff, the ceremony went ahead, because there are no rules on a couple wearing the same outfit.

Alina believes that their wedding sends a powerful message to Russian couples who may be in non-conventional relationships.

She added: ‘We are not alone in having such problems. I have written to couples who are planning similar marriages and are afraid of failures with registration. Be aware – you cannot be refused.’

‘After all, girls are the fairer sex. They are beautiful. So if a guy looks like a girl – it’s wonderful.’

Man, 25, Found Dead In Benin

The corpse of a 25-year-old physically-challenged man was on Wednesday found on Oza Street, Off Sakponba Road in Benin.

It was gathered that the deceased, simply identified as Danjuma, died on Tuesday after he was abandoned by unknown persons in front of his uncle’s house.

The late man, who hailed from Plateau State, was said to have been dumped in a waste dump by his uncle, identified as Arase, who also threatened to deal with anyone who tried to rescue the boy.

It was also gathered that succour, however, came the way of the late Danjuma when a female group, Forum for Nigerian Women in Politics, rescued him from the dump and took him to a private hospital in Benin, before he was later reportedly taken to the state ministry for women affairs.

But the deceased’s hope of survival was cut short, when unknown persons were said to have brought him back and left him in front of his uncle’s house last Thursday and later found dead on Tuesday.

Some residents, who declined mentioning their names, said that they woke up to find the lifeless body of the 25-year-old.

“I think he must have been brought here in the night on last Thursday, but I don’t know who brought him.

“We saw him dead yesterday,” one of them said.

However, when the press visited the street where Danjuma was abandoned, he was found under his wheelchair with sores on his feet.

The President of FONWIP, Mrs. Florence Gbinigie, who said she was surprised to see that the boy was dead, explained that she saw him lying lifeless beside his wheelchair.

She said, “I felt very sad because that was not how he was when he was discharged from the hospital.

“I noticed that he was dead with a lot of flies on his body so I covered him with a cloth.”

“The ministry should explain to us how the boy got here and how his case became worse to the point of death.

“They told us that they were taking care of the boy.

“So why did his condition become this bad?”

Efforts to reach the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on the matter were unsuccessful of press time.

Father Impregnates Daughter

A 40-year-old driver who allegedly fathered a child with his biological daughter has found himself in the grip of the Adentan Police.

The man, identified as Edem Fedieley, was arrested after his 17-year-old junior high school (JHS) dropout daughter told the police about the sexual abuse and assault she had suffered from her father since she was 12.

At age 16, the victim was said to have been impregnated by her father.

After she was delivered of a baby boy last year, Fedieley put her on a family planning contraceptive known as Norplant for a period of five years to prevent another pregnancy.

According to the police, the girl claimed that her father usually mixed alcohol and honey and compelled her to drink it before he forcibly had sex with her three times in a week.

The victim was said to have escaped one morning after she had been subjected to another bout of sexual abuse because she could not take it any longer.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Adentan District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr Stephen Kofi Ahiatafu, said on August 10, 2014, Fedieley reported to the police that his daughter, who lived in the same house with him at Adentan, was missing.

While the police were investigating the complaint, Fedieley reportedly informed the police on August 11, 2014 that he knew the whereabouts of his daughter.

“He led the police to a house where his daughter and a 19-year-old man were picked up for interrogation,” Mr Ahiatafu said.

Initially, he said, the police charged the man who was living with the girl in his house with abduction, since Fedieley claimed his daughter had been kidnapped.

“However, during interrogation, the girl said she was abandoned by her mother when she was only seven months old and had been taken care of by her father ever since,” he said.

According to him, the girl said her father started having sex with her when she turned 12 and threatened her not to inform anyone about it or risk her life.

He said the girl alleged that her father made her drink honey and a locally distilled alcohol which made her drowsy and weak before having sex with her.

On August 6, 2014, the victim, after one of the sexual encounters, packed out of her father’s house.

Mr Ahiatafu said she relocated to the house of the young man in whom she had confided and with whom she had become friends a few days earlier.

“So the complainant was rather arrested and interrogated, in the course of which he admitted the offence,” Mr Ahiatafu said.

He said the victim had assault marks all over her body.

Fedieley has since been charged with incest, and he will be put before court soon.

I Had Sex With 183 Women For Rituals

Emotions ran high last Friday at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region following the startling confession of a 28- year old gold dealer of how he had sex with more than 183 women and used their vaginal fluids for money rituals.

Kwame Assenso, who raced to the Life Way Miracle Centre at Obuasi Asonkore for a spiritual solu tion after nemesis had caught up with him, said his sexual escapades with the young women happened within a period of one year.

Showing signs of remorse, Kwame Assenso said he committed the act in order to get rich quickly and also become the don of the gold trading business at Obuasi.

In his search for money and power, the young man claimed he was introduced to a Mallam at Navrongo in the Upper East Region, who gave him a money god, while he was a galamsey operator at Obuasi.

Narrating how he came by his money, the gold dealer said he was directed by the Mallam to sleep around with women and use the vaginal fluids of the victims to perform rituals for the blood money.

"It all started a year ago when I was introduced to this Mallam by my friends. I wanted to fortify my position as a gold dealer and get more money as well. He helped me out by giving me a money god which needed the vaginal fluids of women," Assenso recounted.

The Obuasi Tutuka resident revealed that he bonked several women and lost count of them after the 183rd woman, and paid each of the women between GHc 300 and GHc 500 for a night's encounter, which all happened at his residence in Obuasi.

Trouble started for the renowned old dealer, Kwame Assenso, when he met one "prayerful woman" whom he brought home for a hot sex session one night, but it turned out to be the end of the road for him.

According to him, he returned to his room to find this lady praying on his bed, after going out to pass urine, which action rendered him motionless, and he began experiencing sleepless nights thereafter.

"I asked why she was praying, and she replied that it was nothing. I could not touch her and since then, till my deliverance, I experienced nightmares," he disclosed.

He narrated that he began experiencing recurrent nightmares, and therefore went to Prophet Kofi Sarfo's church for spiritual intervention, where he made the startling revela tion of the blood money and the number of women he preyed upon.

Kwame Assenso asked the vic tims of his blood money for forgive ness and pledged to use the proceeds to help the poor, professing that he had turned over a new leaf.

"Our women like money and I want them to know that not all that glitters is gold. They should be care ful and not cheapen themselves for money."

Couple Having Sex Wake Up Neighbourhood With Their Groaning

A student who thought there was ‘some kind of monster’ outside his house was stunned when he opened the curtains and found a couple having sex against a wall.

Christian, who studies at Anglia Ruskin University, immediately pulled out his camera to film the passionate couple.

‘I heard some groaning outside and to be honest I thought it was some kind of a monster,’ he said.

‘I could not really believe what I was seeing.

‘I got all the guys over to have a look and I thought I better film this.’

The bare-bottomed man gave the student the V-sign when he realised he’d been spotted, before walking away with the woman.

‘It happened a week ago and we’re still laughing about it,’ added Christian.

Man Kills, Roasts 65-Years-Old Mum For Being A Witch

Police has arrested a 29-year-old man in Anambra State, Ekene Ucheagwu, for allegedly killing and roasting his 65-year-old mother in Ndikpa Awuka in Ogbunka community, Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.

Ekene, who was paraded by the police at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Awkuzu, was said to have carried out the dastardly act on his mother, Mrs. Agnes Ucheagwu, in May after accusing her of using witchcraft to prevent the progress of their family.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Uche Ezeh (DSP), said the suspect committed the crime after his release from Umuchukwu Police Station where he was earlier held for beating the same mum to a pulp.

He, however, assured that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the suspect, Ekene, said he killed his mother because she prevented the progress of her children and the entire family, adding that their 45-year-old elder brother was yet to marry due to his mother’s alleged witchcraft and curses on her children.

He said: “My mother was evil, I killed her because of her wickedness. This incident happened in May. She prevented good things coming to her children. She was a witch, others were blindfolded because of our mother’s witchcraft and because only me knew her plans, she was always attacking me.

“The reason I killed her was because she planned to kill me first because I called her ‘Queen of the coast’ (her spiritual name) but I had to retaliate by killing her first. My mother was a witch living in the sky; I killed her and burnt her body in the bush called Ogbukwu with fuel and firewood.

“I had no regrets for killing her but now I am beginning to regret my action because our people in the community have started to hate me but when the kingdom of God will come on earth they will be forced to love me again. When I killed her, the people of my community were only doing guesswork until I was arrested in Aba by the police.”

He said he committed the crime in the night, adding that he used a club to hit her and then put her in a wheelbarrow and took her to the bush where she was burnt.

It was, however, gathered that after the incident, Ogbunka community banished the suspect, which led to his relocation to Aba to continue his cobbler business at Ariara Market in Abia State.

Pastor Arraigned In Court After Sexually Assaulting And Infecting A Minor With STD

A seven-year-old girl has been infected with staph after she was sexually assaulted by the pastor of an orthodox church, Sunday Akintayo.

The police arrested the 51-year-old cleric for inserting his finger into the private parts of the victim and shaving her eyebrows.

It was learnt that the assault had been going on for a long time, but by the time it was detected, the victim had contracted staph, a bacterial infection.

The mother of the victim was said to have noticed sperm discharge from the vagina of the girl while bathing her.

The girl was said to have opened up to her after a lot of prodding.

Akintayo was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court on two counts of indecent assault.

The charge reads in part, “That you, Sunday Akintayo, on July 19, 2014 at Wuragbera Railway Line, Ilupeju, Mushin Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did indecently assault one seven-year-old girl by inserting your finger into her vagina.

“That you did indecently assault a minor by shaving her eyebrows.”

The offence was said to be punishable under sections 261 and 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial.

The defence counsel, Ali Abba, asked the court to grant bail to his client.

He said, “We sympathise with the victim’s family on what happened, but Section 36(6) of the 1999 Constitution is of the opinion that unless the defendant is convicted, he is presumed innocent. Also, Section 115(1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, 2011, outlines cases where bail cannot be granted; and, this is not one of them.”

The police prosecutor, Inspector U.A. Moses, urged the court to remand the pastor, saying the victim was in a critical medical condition.

Moses said, “The victim of the crime is a minor, a seven-year-old girl, and she sustained injuries in the course of the crime. We urge my Lord to look at the seriousness of this case.

“We have a medical report showing that the victim is already infected and is under intensive care. If the defendant is granted bail, he could manipulate the prosecution witnesses. We want the court to look at the prevalence of cases of paedophiles in the society, which can lead to increase in cervical cancer.”

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.A. Demi Ajayi overruled the bail application of the defence counsel, saying he did not address the facts of the case.

She added, “In view of the prevalence of the case, the defendant is to be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.”

The matter was adjourned till September 24, 2014 for legal advice.

Suspects Sell N11.5m Goods To Policeman For N3m

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly diverting goods worth N11.5m and attempting to sell it for N3m.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi , said the suspects ─ Idowu Jimoh,42, and Emeka Godwin,21 ─ agreed to sell the goods for N3m to a policeman who worked undercover in order to catch the suspects red-handed.

It was gathered that the goods, said to be Nestle PLC products worth N11m, were loaded on a truck marked, LAGOS, LND 182 XB, which was headed for Abuja.

The police said the duo had made plans to divert and sell the goods before a police informant alerted the command.

Adejobi explained that a police detective was detailed to work undercover and gain the confidence of the suspects.

He said the detective managed to establish contact with Jimoh and Godwin and entered into negotiation with them. He added that the suspects agreed to sell the goods to the policemen for N3m.

The PPRO said, “The suspects are the driver of the truck, Idowu Jimoh of Kokale Coca Cola Area of Ota, Ogun State, who also hails from Epe in Lagos State and the motor boy, Emeka Godwin, who hails from the Anocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“The truck was loaded with Nestle PLC products worth 11.5m. The goods were meant for a customer in Abuja, but the duo planned to divert it to another place to sell.

“When the police detectives heard of the plan due to our intelligence gathering, they quickly keyed into the arrangement and a detective from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ogun State, entered into negotiation with the suspects through the help of an informant.

“The suspects agreed to sell the goods for N3m to the potential buyer (the police man) before they were eventually arrested at Ijoga Orile. They had tactically removed the tracker fixed on the truck so that the company would not be able to track its movement.

“The driver of the truck, Idowu, had worked in a company in Ota and was sacked for a similar offence of stealing and diverting a truck loaded with some chemical products. He is married with children and has even built a house.”

Adejobi said the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had directed SARS to carry out a thorough investigation of the matter and get others connected with the crime.

He added that the commissioner advised firms to screen their employees and install sophisticated vehicle trackers unlike the type which was removed by the driver.

Houseboy Kills Boss 78-Years-Old Mother In Lagos

The police have arrested an 18-year-old man, Hounvenou Yavine, a national of Republic of Benin, for slitting the throat of his boss’ mother, Mrs. Mariam Abiola.

The incident happened at Ijaiye Low Cost Housing Estate, Pen Cinema, Lagos.

It was learnt that Yavine, who had his primary education in Porto Novo, was brought to Lagos in April 2014, by his elder sister.

He was, however, taken to work with the Abiolas by his sister’s husband, who was also collecting his monthly salary of N8, 000.

The daily tasks of Hounvenou were to do the house chores and follow his boss to her shop, where he assisted in selling alcoholic drinks.

It was learnt that in May, 2014, the residence of the 78-year-old in Ikeja was demolished and she relocated in the interim to stay with her daughter at Pen Cinema.

The suspect was said to have been assigned to a new task of tending to the old woman and assisting with the house chores, instead of going to the shop.

On the fateful day, the suspect was said to be home alone with the deceased when he slit her throat and killed her.

It was learnt that the Beninese insisted that someone asked him to kill the grandmother.

His boss was said to have discovered the crime, and reported the matter to the police.

The suspect was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court on one count of murder.

The charge reads, “That you, Hounvenou Yavine, on July 1, 2014 at Ijaiye Low Cost Housing Estate, Pen Cinema, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Mariam Abiola, aged 78 years, by stabbing her with a knife on her throat and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”

The police prosecutor, Inspector Asup Feddy, applied for the remand of the defendant in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

He said, “The defendant has actually confessed to the crime and the knife he used in committing the crime has been taken as an exhibit.”

The defence counsel, Imelda Adebambo, however appealed to the court to conduct a preliminary enquiry into the matter, adding that the alleged exhibit had not been recovered by the police.

The Magistrate, E.O. Ogunkanmi, upheld the remand application.

“It is only the High Court that has the power to grant bail in a matter of this nature. The application for remand of the prosecution counsel is hereby granted. The defendant is to be remanded pending legal advice from the DPP. The case file is also to be duplicated,” he said.

The matter was adjourned till September 8, 2014 for legal advice.

Cemetery 'Ghost' Fined For Shouting 'Woooo'

A man who pretended to be a ghost while behaving in a "rowdy" way in a cemetery has been fined.

Anthony Stallard of Southsea, Hampshire, has been ordered to pay £35 after throwing his arms in the air and shouting: "Woooooo."

Portsmouth Magistrates' Court heard that Stallard had been out drinking with friends when they went to Portsmouth's Kingston Cemetery where they played football.

Hampshire police said a number of witnesses made a complaint that Stallard had acted rowdily and pretended to be a spooky apparition.

A spokesman said: "The witnesses reported the group engaging in rowdy behaviour and one of them throwing their arms in the air and saying 'woooooo'."

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause distress.

Stallard was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £20 in costs.

The court heard that he had also breached the conditions of an earlier punishment when he had been charged with harassment.

As a result of that breach he had an extra three months added to his conditional charge, a spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Stallard had also been charged with causing criminal damage to the gravestones, but the charge was dismissed.

Suspected Thief Caught Making Crab Cakes At Restaurant He Broke Into

A suspected thief was reportedly caught after he decided to make crab cakes at the restaurant he broke into.

Most burglars want to get out as quick as possible, but Stephen L. Quinn was apparently more interested in satisfying his urge for the fishy treat.

While reportedly in the middle of preparing the dish at Delaware’s Planet X Cafe on Thursday, police burst in following a tip off.

The 41-year-old had also apparently put aside some stolen alcohol and was seemingly readying himself for a sit down meal.

Quinn attempted to make a dash for freedom but was quickly apprehended, according to police.

He received a number of charges including burglary, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he was angrier he didn’t get to eat his crab cakes.

The Hand Of God Spotted In The Clouds Above The UK

The people of Kent may have thought the rapture was upon them when they saw what looked like a hand protruding from the sky.

A photographer managed to capture the moment a cloud shaped like hand – dubbed the ‘hand of God’ – formed above his house in the Deal, near Dover.

David Christie, 38, who photographed the meteorological oddity, said: ‘It looked as through there was a huge hand piercing through the clouds – it was phenomenal.

‘It really did seem like the hand of God.’

The father of two said photographing the incredible cloud has sparked his interest in capturing natural wonders.

He said: ‘I’ve always wanted to do storm chasing in the US. Some of the things you see over there are incredible but this was a very surreal experience.’

It is believed the shape was formed by a wind-tunnel forming in storm clouds, rather than the hand of a deity.
