Cannibal Cuts off Lover's Penis and Ate Them...

German cannibal Armin Meiwes has given an extraordinary account of how he ‘fried a piece of rump steak’ from his lover’s back then ate it with sprouts. Bernd Brandes was killed in 2001 after posting an advert online called ‘Dinner – or your dinner’. In it, he offered ‘the chance to eat me alive’.

And now Meiwes has spoken about how he went about it for a documentary ‘Docs: Interview with a Cannibal’.

Clearly a romantic at heart, he said he ‘decorated the table with nice candles.

‘I took out my best dinner service, and fried and piece of rump steak – a piece from his back – made what I call princess potatoes, and sprouts. After I prepared my meal, I ate it.

‘The first bite was, of course, very strange. It was a feeling I can’t really describe. I’d spent over 40 years longing for it, dreaming about it.

‘And now I was getting the feeling that I was actually achieving this perfect inner connection through his flesh. The flesh tastes like pork but stronger.

Before he killed him, however, Meiwes says Brandes took sleeping tablets and drank schnapps before cutting off Brandes’s penis. They then ate it together, he says.

One thing led to another and Brandes took a bath while Meiwes read him a Star Trek novel before eventually stabbing him in the neck to kill him. He cut him into pieces, buried his head in the garden and the rest he put in the freezer.

Oh, and he filmed it all, but documentary makers have decided not to include that part. Meiwes became obsessed with cannibalism as a teenager but only acted on it after the death of his mother and found chat-rooms where people would offer themselves up.

He was arrested in December 2002 and told police that the meat in his freezer belonged to a wild pig. During his trial he said Brandes ‘came to me of his own free will to end his life. For him, it was a nice death.’ He served eight years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter in 2004. He is now believed to be a vegetarian.
