Brazilian student sells virginity for $780,000

A Brazilian student has sold her virginity in an online auction for US$780,000 as part of a documentary organised by an Australian filmmaker, although a man who did the same only fetched US$3,000. Catarina Migliorini, 20, was the subject of 15 bids, with a Japanese man named only as Natsu winning on Wednesday night, according to the website of the film "Virgins Wanted".

He beat out competition from 14 other men, mostly from Brazil but also from India, Australia and the United States. A male whose virginity was also auctioned, 21-year-old Sydney student Alex Stepanov, fetched US$3,000, paid by a Brazilian woman. Australian media said Migliorini would be "delivered" to her buyer on board a plane to Australia and that she would be interviewed before and after losing her virginity at a secret location.

Filmmaker Jason Sisely, who began his project in 2009 and caused outrage when he put posters up in Sydney and Melbourne saying "Virgins Wanted", said Migliorini was ecstatic and had not expected as much such interest.

"The auction closed last night and Catarina is extremely excited. She was speaking to her family in Brazil online and they were extremely happy for her," he told Australian online news site Ninemsn.

"But I guess they didn't expect her to do something like this."

He said the act would be consummated, but not filmed, in the next few weeks.

"We will fly over the winner to Australia and obviously, for the sake of the film and privacy, we can't disclose where and when the act will take place," he said. "I have to leave some details for the documentary."

On a "Virgins Wanted" trailer on YouTube, Migliorini said: "I haven't found the right person to do it with, I've been too busy with other stuff."

She added: "It's more sane than doing it drunk at a party with a stranger."

Migliorini's decision to sell her virginity to the highest bidder has sparked outrage across the globe, with some claiming she was little more than a prostitute. But she defended the move.

"I saw this as a business. I have the opportunity to travel, to be part of a movie and get a bonus with it," she was quoted by the Mail as saying.

"If you only do it once in your life then you are not a prostitute,  just like if you take one amazing photograph it does not automatically make you a photographer."

She will reportedly use part of the cash to build homes for poverty-stricken families. Sisely told Ninemsn that under the terms of the auction a condom was compulsory and Natsu must be tested beforehand for any sexually transmitted diseases.

"I'm looking forward to my audience's response to the film," he said.

Dead Man Turns Up At Own Funeral

A 41-year-old car wash shocked his family when he interrupted a funeral being held for him at his mother’s home in the town. The incident happend at Alagoinhas, in

northeastern Brazil.

Jose Marcos Araujo identified a body at the city morgue as being that of his brother, Gilberto. He  took the body to his mother’s home where a wake was held.

“The confusion started when news started circulating that a car wash had been shot dead,” Jose Marcos’ wife, Ana Paula, told the UOL Internet news portal, adding that “police called my husband and told him that his brother had been killed and his body was at the morgue.”

According to the police inspector, “the man  whose body was in the morgue was named Genivaldo Santos Gama,” adding that further information on him was not immediately available.

A few hours before the Monday burial, Lima said “a friend of Gilberto saw him walking down the street and told him that his family was mourning him.

“So he went to his mother’s home to let everyone know he was very much alive.”

When Araujo showed up at his wake, “some people fainted and others were so scared that they ran away. It was a big shock,” family friend, Maria Menezes, told the G1 online news site.

Gilberto’s mother, Marina Santana, told reporters that “I am overjoyed.”

French PM backs Obama in US presidential race. French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has broken with diplomatic protocol by openly expressing his hope that Barack Obama wins the upcoming US presidential election.

"If I was an American citizen I wouldn't hesitate to vote for Obama," he told a radio interviewer on Wednesday.

While it is hardly surprising that Ayrault, a Socialist, would support the Democrat candidate in a US election, prudence normally restricts politicians from making such remarks given the possibility they will end up having to deal with their Republican rivals.

Ayrault is not however the first French minister to offer public support for Obama in his neck-and-neck battle with Republican Mitt Romney.

On Tuesday, Bernard Cazeneuve, the European affairs minister, said: "As far as I'm concerned, I totally support it (Obama's re-election) and I would be astonished if the government had any other wish."

President Francois Hollande was less explicit when he was asked who he would support during a visit to New York at the end of last month, restricting himself to a rhetorical: "Who would you think?"

A Louisiana woman who told police she had been subjected to a racist attack in which three men set her alight and scrawled KKK on her car was lying, investigators have said.

"The wounds were self-inflicted," said Kyle Hanrahan, a spokesman for the FBI's Louisiana bureau. Sharmeka Moffitt, 20, was seriously burned in the incident and remains in a critical condition. She called police from a park in the town of Winnsboro on Sunday night and told them three men in white hoodies had doused her with a flammable liquid and ignited it.

The letters KKK, for the white supremacist organisation Ku Klux Klan, and a racial slur were scrawled on her car in what appeared to be toothpaste. According to local media, investigators decided the burns were self-inflicted after finding Ms Moffitt's fingerprints on a cigarette lighters and lighter fluid. Louisiana's KATC News reported her family had issued a statement saying: "Our family is devastated to learn the circumstances surrounding our daughter's injuries.

"While this was not the resolution we had expected, it is a resolution, and we appreciate the thorough investigation by the local and state police as well as federal agencies.

"We are sincerely sorry for any problems this may have caused and wish to express our appreciation for the outpouring of love, prayers and support we have received from friends, acquaintances, church organisations and government officials."

The FBI was called in to assist local authorities because the incident was initially considered a possible hate crime.

A security guard, Danjuma Abutu, 36, attached to Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, GTB, Lagos has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, on a three-count charge of breaking into the bank’s Automated Teller Machine, ATM, to steal N1 million.

The police at the Bar Beach Division, Victoria Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, alleged in the charge sheet that the accused was arrested following a complaint lodged by the management of the bank that he allegedly broke into their ATM to steal the sum of N1 million while on duty.

During interrogation, Abutu claimed that he was not the one that burgled the machine to steal the money. But when he was asked who must have broken into the machine to steal the money when he was the one on duty when the incident occurred, he could not give any satisfactory answer.

The offence, the prosecutor, Inspector Gbemileke Agoi, said, was punishable under sections 409, 307, 408 and 285(9)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011. 

One of the charges reads: “That you, Danjuma Abutu and others at large, on 29 September, 2012, did neglect to prevent a felony as a security guard employed by the bank.”

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the magistrate, Mr. J.A. Adigun admitted him on bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State government. He adjourned the matter till 9 November, 2012 for mention. The defendant was, however, remanded at Ikoyi Prison when he could not perfect the bail conditions in good time.

The wave of terror attacks in Nigeria on Tuesday took a new turn as a suicide bomber attempted to blow up an Arik Air plane flying from Maiduguri to Abuja. A suspected member of the Boko Haram sect who had boarded in Maiduguri, Borno State got up midair and told all the passengers to say their last prayers. As he brought out the explosive device, he disclosed that his main targets were the white people in the aircraft.

The explosive device however failed to detonate before the plane landed in Abuja. Police bomb experts moved in and the terrorist was arrested when the plane touched down in Abuja.

The attempt on the airline has shown the dynamism of the dreaded Islamist sect. Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force had earlier hinted that the sect has plans to launch attacks on Sallah day.

Rider Crushed, Passenger Breaks Arm

A commercial motorcyclist was crushed to death on Saturday morning at Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos. His passenger, a young woman also broke an arm in the early morning accident. Witnesses told P.M.News that the accident occurred when the driver of a blue Toyota Camry apparently lost control after experiencing brake failure.

The motorcyclist who was riding by the side of the road and heading towards the Omole traffic point was crushed against a building on Plot 22, Lateef Jakande Way, Agidingbi. The passenger’s left arm was broken into two and only held by her skin. Many bystanders and others who rushed to the scene wept uncontrollably at the scene of the accident.

The corpse of the rider was pulled from underneath the Camry car. Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC and the Lagos State Transport Management Agency, LASTMA later rushed to the scene to take the two accident victims to the hospital. The driver of the Toyota Camry was arrested by policemen and taken away.

Lateef Jakande way, where the accident happened is one of the 475 roads the new traffic law of Lagos state prohibits okada riders from plying.

Leave Our Daughter Alone – Arunma Oteh’s Kinsmen Call On President Jonathan To Shield Her From ‘Attacks’

Amaokwe-Item in Abia state, home of embattled Director-General of Security and Exchange Commission, Ms Arumma Oteh, have risen in defense of their daughter who they allege is being ‘attacked’ by some Nigerians. This view was expressed by her kinsmen in a Save Our Soul message to President Jonathan.

Speaking through the Secretary-General of Amaokwe-Item Development Welfare Union, Mr. Sunny Ogele, the community expressed concern at what it described the incessant politically- motivated attacks on Oteh.

According to Ogele, this unwarranted attacks have made it necessary for the community to speak out as it has become clear to it that those after Oteh’s job were becoming very desperate by the day.

The community also noted that same people who played key roles in the fraud that led to the collapse of Nigerian Stock Exchange had been after Oteh’s job since she cleared the rot in the organisation.

Arunman Oteh was appointed to the position of Director General SEC in January 2010 and has over the last couple of months, been in a constant struggle to keep her job as both chambers of the National Assembly have called on President Jonathan to relieve her of her job sighting her ‘high-handedness’ among other reasons for the call.

A commercial motorcyclist, identified simply as Ifeanyi, has been arrested for allegedly handing over a nurse, Mrs. Helen Ilonge, to ritual killers after collecting N10, 000. It was learnt that Ilonge, who is the coordinator of Primary Health Care in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State had on Tuesday last week took Ifeanyi’s motorcycle on her way to Igoli along the Ogoja-Ikom Highway in Ogoja LGA while coming from a programme at the Assemblies of God Church, Abakaliki in Ebonyi

State, and had alighted from a vehicle at Okpongrinya junction before taking the bike.

It was gathered that Ilonge (51) was beheaded while her other vital reproductive parts such as breast and vagina were removed for ritual purposes. Ilonge’s neighbour, Mrs. Theresa Idagwu, on Sunday said, “Ifeanyi took the lady from Okpogrinya Junction on the pretence that he was taking her to the village, which is 10 minutes drive from the point. But along the way, he stopped and handed her over to kidnappers at Ukpe.

Meanwhile, the woman had called her daughter, Victoria, around 9pm that she had taken a bike at Okpogrinya Junction on her way to Igoli. She said when she gets to her destination; she would call again so that Victoria would boil water for her to take her bath. That was Ilonge’s last call.” Repeated calls made to the woman’s line, according to Idagwu, indicated that it was switched off. She said Ilonge’s family became worried when the woman did not return home. “We went everywhere- police stations, hospitals and even her friends in Igoli, thinking that may be an accident had occurred along the road but we got nothing,” Idagwu added.

Two days later, Idagwu said someone called Victoria on her phone and informed her that her mother had been kidnapped. The caller demanded a ransom of N50, 000 to be remitted in form of recharge cards. She said, “Since her daughter could not raise the money, she rushed to the Bekwarra LGA headquarters where the head of administration, Mr. Bisong Bogbo, and the chairman, Mr. Linus Edeh, provided the money with which she bought recharge cards and sent to the caller.

“The voice claimed that he needed the recharge cards so he could sell and run away from his master who is a ritual killer. He claimed that he had been serving his master for a long time and wanted to run away. He said once he gets the cards, he will break the door where the nurse is being kept and release her.”

The LGA’s head of administration, Bogbo, confirmed that the cards were sent to the kidnapper through Victoria’s telephone. He said immediately the alleged kidnapper confirmed receipt of the cards; he switched off his telephone. Luck, however, ran out of Ifeanyi. Policemen tracked his telephone line and discovered that he called Victoria from Abuochiche.

Further investigations, it was gathered, showed that Ifeanyi had been selling the cards in the village immediately he got them. When he was arrested, Bogbo told our correspondent that Ifeanyi led the police to one of the ritual killers identified simply as Elvis. Elvis, according to Bogbo, confessed that the nurse had already been killed and some of her vital organs removed before Ifeanyi asked for the recharge cards. Elvis also said the remains of the woman were buried in a swamp.

At the council headquarters, one of the late nurse’s colleagues, Mr. Gabriel Ogar, said she was probably the kindest woman he ever worked with. Ogar said, “I have worked with five coordinators, but I know that she is just the best so far. She worked to the admiration of Governor Liyel Imoke and now she has been killed leaving her five children without a helper.

“Her husband died 12 years ago and since then she has been the one taking care of the children and only one has graduated. Please let the government do something for those poor children.” 

When contacted on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Osita Ezechukwu, said the police were still investigating the matter. He said four suspects had been apprehended by the anti-homicide unit, adding that when the investigation was completed the suspects would be prosecuted.

“We have taken confessional statement from them. Those who are not involved have been allowed to go while those who are involved are still in detention,” Ezechukwu said.

Mitt Romney and Barack Obama renewed their personal hostilities against each other last night, triggering explosive exchanges over foreign affairs in the final presidential debate.

A sarcastic U.S. president repeatedly patronised his Republican opponent, accusing him of being ‘all over the map’ on how to deal with the world, ‘wrong and reckless’ and in one taunt claimed that Romney thought of the naval forces and military force levels of being ‘like a game of Battleship’, mocking the challenger for wanting to bring back ‘horses and bayonets’ to the military.

But Romney held his own in the face of Obama’s sustained assaults, working hard to establish his credentials as a sober and steady statesman with an obviously well-briefed analysis of world matters, from Iran to Poland to Mali.

Early polling gave Obama the victory, but whether he will go on to win the war remains to be seen as it is still unclear whether he has done enough to stop Romney’s momentum and erode his slight national lead.

CNN poll of debate-watchers shows 48% for Obama, 40% for Romney while a poll taken by CBS immediately afterwards suggested voters thought Mr Obama had performed best in Boca Raton, by 53% to 23%.

The sight of people with deformities of any kind stirs up the soul especially when kids are involved. This is something never seen before in this part of our world except it hasn't come to limelight – the image below is that of Kangkang, a boy born with a transverse facial cleft.

The condition makes him look like he is literally wearing a mask over his face – partly due to the massive cleft that extends almost all the way up to his ears.

Kangkang’s mother didn’t see him immediately at birth and broke into tears when she was finally allowed to behold her son following several pleas. The causative factor of this condition is unknown but it is believed to be caused by an infection, or even frequent drug use by the mother. According to one source, the only drugs the mother took while she was pregnant were anti-abortion drugs her doctor prescribed.

Though the treatment is expensive as Yi, Kangkang’s mother discovered after she took him to a hospital in Changsha - capital city of Hunan, in south-central China, the family has been able to gather enough money for his treatment.

A cheating married woman in Rujeko C in Masvingo, Zimbabwe was caught having sex with her tenant in the bathroom on Tuesday while her husband watched television in the lounge.

When she took a long time to return from the bathroom the husband followed her to the bathroom and rumbled her. The incident which has become a subject of discussion in the entire Rujeko suburb took place at around 9pm when the woman who has been identified only as Mai Shield was found having a good time with a man identified as Chingwa in the bathroom.

According to one resident, who only identified himself as Sam, the woman was watching television in the company of her husband, only identified as Mr Tafi or Baba Shield. He said while the two were enjoying watching television, Mai Shield allegedly received a message on her phone after which he told her husband that she wanted to take a bath as she was feeling hot.

“Mai Shield received an sms on his phone after which she left for the bathroom on the pretext that she was going to bath. The truth of the matter is that Chingwa whose philandering with the married woman is suspected to be spanning many years had sneaked into the bathroom and sent an sms calling her lover,” said Sam.

When the two met in the bathroom, the woman locked the door and started making love. However, all hell broke loose when the woman’s husband knocked on the bathroom door to find out if Mai Shield was still bathing.

“Mr Tafi had to come to the bathroom to find out if his wife was still in, bathing, since she had taken long. The man was worried about the time the woman had spent in the bathing room and went on to find out, only to get the shock of his life,” he said.

He said when Mr Tafi knocked at the door the love birds were having a time of their lives that Mai Shield could not respond to the knock. However, when Mr Tafi whose suspicion had mounted threatened to break the door the woman said she had just finished bathing and would open the door. Mr Tafi is said to have got frustrated that he forced open the door and he found Chingwa, zipping his trousers while Mai Shield stood motionless.

A scuffle ensued between Chingwa and Mr Tafi but eventually Chingwa managed to break free from the enraged man’s grip and made good his escape.

Chingwa is said to be a tenant at one of the man’s houses in Rujeko A and also Mr Tafi’s friend.

“You know Chingwa is a friend to this man but for reasons better known to him he has been seeing his wife since time immemorial and as that is not enough he is a tenant at one of the man’s houses in Rujeko A. The man has two houses,” said another resident.

He said the woman is known to be of loose morals and last year she was again caught making love by his daughter who is now married.

“The woman has a knack of sleeping with her tenants, last year she was caught making love to a man who works at one of the local funeral assurance companies in Masvingo. We thought she has stopped but it shows she will never,” he said.

After being caught being red-handed the woman escaped to her daughter’s house in Rujeko B. The man went to report the case to Rujeko police base where he left the officers in stitches when he brought a plate full of Sadza as exhibit.

“Mr Tafi allegedly went to report the case at the police where he showed the officers on duty, a plate full of Sadza, that he believed could have been left for Chingwa, by his wife,” the resident said.

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Peter Zhanero could neither confirm nor deny the incident and promised to check with Rujeko police base.

“That incident is not to my knowledge and chances are that it could have been handled by our officers at Rujeko base. They could have counselled the couple and decided not to record it but I will check,” said Insp Zhanero

However, a police source at the base confirmed receiving the case but professed ignorance on whether a docket was opened or not.

A Man Arrested For Defiling 3 Children And Chewing Off Their Lips

In the quiet town of Apedwa near Kyebi in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana was thrown into a state of shock when a 25-year-old senior high school leaver, Eric Bekoe, kidnapped three little girls aged between two-and-half and four years into his room, chewed off their lips and defiled them with his fingers.

In an attempt to explain the actions of Eric Bekoe, residents resorted to guess work, attributing his carnivorous behaviour to occultism, the taking of hard drugs, witchcraft, and ‘sakawa.’ Others however, suspected that Eric was mentally deranged.

The three kids who were all in critical condition, had been sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after doctors at the Kyebi Government Hospital realized the seriousness of their cases. Incidentally, Eric Bekoe was popularly known in the town as ‘Mogya’ meaning ‘blood,’ his nickname while he was a student at a senior high school at Osino.

A police source who corroborated Daily Guide's investigations said the kids (names withheld) all lived in the same neighbourhood of Tema, a suburb of Apedwa.

According to the source, early on Saturday, the three girls were sent to buy ‘koko,’ a local porridge, and while on their way, Eric Bekoe who lived about 150 metres from the victims’ house, saw them, lured them into his room and locked the door. It was around 8:00 a.m. and many of the residents of the quiet neighbourhood who were farmers had left for their various farms. The shrill cries of the children did not attract any help until a neighbour who saw the children in the company of Eric, heard their continuous cries from his room and quickly raised an alarm.

When the door to Eric Bekoe’s room was forced open, they saw the little kids with mutilated lips and profusely bleeding from their mouths and their private parts. One of the girls had the front part of her tongue bitten off by Eric Bekoe with his mouth completely covered with blood. He was arrested and sent to the Apedwa police station and later, the Suhum district police office.

The regional commander, DCOP Kwabena Gyamera-Yeboah, who confirmed the incident to Daily Guide, said the police had reports that Eric Bekoe was mentally deranged but in his caution statement, he was consistent and coherent in his narration of events and admitted the offence. According to the police commander, Eric Bekoe would be made to face the full rigours of the law.

He asked parents to take good care of their children in such situations. Meanwhile, the assembly member for the area where the unfortunate incident occurred, Kwame Antwi, yesterday told Daily Guide that he was surprised at the behaviour of Eric. He pleaded with public-spirited members of the community to come to the aid of the children who were undergoing surgery at the Plastic and Burns Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

“The parents of these innocent children are all farmers and cannot help pay about GH¢9,000, which we understand would be needed for their treatment at Korle-Bu and therefore want members of the public to help pay their hospital bills for us,” he said.

The parents of the suspect expressed shock at the behaviour of their son and said they did not know what might have come over him. According to them, their son was a quiet and reserved person and they never suspected that he could engage in what they described as ‘such a callous’ act.

A 30 year old farmer is said to be in critical condition at the Asamankese Government Hospital after his attempt to commit suicide failed. Papa Odano attempted killing himself by drinking poisonous substance suspected to be pesticide at Akyim Akroso Kyeremase in the Eastern Region because his wife - whose name was given as Georgina - told him she can no longer stay in the marriage. The Gyasehene of Akyim Akroso Kyeremase, Nana Kwame Appiah, who confirmed the incident to Adom News said the farmer drank the poisonous substance used for the spraying of Cocoa after a misunderstanding with his 29 year old wife in the late hours of Wednesday.

He continued that the next day Papa Odano woke up to see his wife with whom he has four children packing her personal effects from their matrimonial home and his persistent pleas fell on deaf ears. Nana Appiah further explained that after Georgina had packed and left to her mother at a nearby village called Gyabaakwaa, Odano took a bottle full of the poisonous substance suspected to be pesticide and drank it.

The Gyasehene of the area said it took the intervention of some neighbours to rush him to hospital. He indicated that Odano was first rushed to a hospital at Nsabaa and was later transferred to Asamankese Government Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. Nana Appiah also expressed concern about the increasing number of attempted suicides in the area. He told Adom News that Odano’s case is the fifth to happen in the area in the last few months.

Meanwhile a sister of Odano, Mary Arhin said the family was shocked to hear the incident because although there have been petty squabbles between his brother and his wife, they never thought it would lead to that.

She said Odano’s situation was deteriorating and it would require divine intervention to save his life.

Man Accused Of Having Sex With Teddy Bear For Fourth Time

Once, twice, three times a lady. But four times with a teddy bear?

Charles Marshall of Cincinnati is accused of having sex with a teddy bear for the fourth time in the past two years, according to the Smoking Gun.

Marshall was arrested Wednesday after employees at a health clinic saw him masturbating with a teddy bear in an alley, according to a police report obtained by the Smoking Gun.

Marshall has three previous convictions for either public indecency or disorderly conduct with a teddy bear. This latest time he was hit with a disorderly conduct charge.

The Daily Mail notes that it’s unclear whether Marshall used the same teddy bear on each occasion.

Cracked explains that people who are aroused by teddy bears can be diagnosed with Ursusagalmatophilia.

“This is also known as Plushophilia in some circles, although this term includes any stuffed animal and is not specific to teddy bears,” Cracked notes.

The incident took place at Shop-Rite Mall in Lagos. The mob descended on the lady, stripped her stark-naked and beat her to a pulp amidst cheers and jeers from onlookers who were busy videoing the detestable act.

Despite efforts to ward off the several blows rained on her, she had objects inserted into her private part by the mob. At a point, a man successfully inserted a torchlight into her private part, while others held her legs apart to make the bestial act easy. All efforts by the helpless lady, who was weeping profusely and pleading, to cover her nakedness with both hands, failed, as the mob tugged at various parts of her body.

Also, A supposed thieve was burnt to death in Warri, Delta state. It is not a new phenomenon  the only thing new is that it people can record and share it, Nigeria has always been in this state of Dismal-Abysmal and barbarism which I can only regard as totally inhumanity at its height.

Where is the rule of law whereby anybody accused of any crime is considered innocent except proven otherwise by the court. The Nigerian security operatives should also live up to their responsibility of securing the lives and property of citizens.
