Woman Kills Man Who Tried To Rape Her

An unidentified suspected rapist has been killed in the Lekki area of Lagos State while attempting to rape a 22-year-old woman, Ifeoma Okechukwu.

It was learnt that the incident happened on Monday, around 12.30pm, in Atlantic View Estate, Alpha Beach Road, Lekki.

It was learnt that Okechukwu was on her menstrual period and had gone out to buy sanitary pads.

The Imo State indigene was said to be on her way back home when she was accosted by the stranger.

She said, “After buying the sanitary pads, I was going back home when I saw a man, who should be in his forties, standing at a corner. He approached me and ordered me to take him to my house.

“He put his hand into his pocket as if he wanted to bring out a weapon. He said he would kill me if I shouted.

“When we got to the house, he said I should shut the door and I did. He said I should remove my clothes; and I started begging him, but he refused to listen.

“So I told him to let me get to the kitchen because I was cooking something and I would be back. I got a rod and hid it in my wrapper. I went back and moved slowly towards him, still begging, but he refused.

“He was taking off his clothes and wearing a condom when I used the rod to hit him in the head. I started screaming. And then I picked the phone and called my uncle.”

The victim’s uncle, who pleaded anonymity, said that he went to report the matter at the Ilasan Police Station after learning what had happened.

He said, “I was not at home when the incident happened and her younger brother had also gone out. So, she was alone in the house and it was possible he had been monitoring her movement.

“When she called me and said what had happened, I left the office and went to the police station in Jakande Estate where I reported the matter.”

A police source said investigators found a pack of condoms on the deceased, including a phone without a SIM card.

The source added that since the incident happened, no one had shown up to claim the man’s corpse.

He said, “He was about wearing the condom when the girl hit him on the head and he died. His mission was to rape her and steal from the house. He probably took advantage of her frail stature.

“We have got information that he was not alone. He belonged to a gang that has been terrorising Lekki residents for some time now. And that’s why since this incident, nobody knows his name and address, and none of his relatives has come forward to say they know him.”

Okechukwu was however said to have been arrested and detained in police custody.

Mob Hacks Suspected Thief To Death In Calabar

A suspected burglar was on Sunday inflicted with deep machete cuts after he was caught attempting to steal wine and alcoholic beverages from a shop along the Atu Street intersection of Goldie Street in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The burglar was said to have broken into the shop in the early hours of the day with three other accomplices who managed to escape from the scene of the incident.

An eyewitness, B.F. Johnbosco, said the thieves had broken into the wine shop around 5am, but someone sighted them and raised the alarm.

Johnbosco said in an attempt to nab the four suspects, three escaped while the fourth who was still busy gathering drinks inside the shop, was apprehended and dealt with summarily.

He said, “Someone noticed when the burglars broke the iron bars on the door of the shop and he informed the owner on the phone that his shop was being burgled. The man mobilised some of his friends and neighbours and they came out with machetes and sticks.

“When they approached the shop, three others managed to escape leaving one of them who was right inside loading wine bottles into a carton. They descended on him and inflicted severe machete cuts on him and dragged him to the other side of the road which borders Holy Child School and dumped him there.”

The suspect was stripped of his shirt, but still wore a black pair of jeans, was lying on his back and had severe machete wounds all over his body.

He was later conveyed by the police to the General Hospital, Calabar, at about 8.45 am.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, confirmed the incident, saying some items were retrieved from the burglar.

While appreciating the gesture by members of the public in tackling crime, Bassey warned that suspects should be handed over to the police instead of attempting to kill them.

He said, “The facts are correct. Wine and other stolen items were recovered from the suspect who is responding to treatment at the hospital. We have not verified his name.

“We appreciate members of the public for their cooperation but we do not encourage them to beat suspects to a coma as it will impede the process of investigation.”

Granny Stuck In Toilet Hole For 4 Hours After Trying To Retrieve False Teeth

A grandmother was stuck in a toilet hole for four hours after she tried to fish up her artificial teeth.

The alarm was raised by her daughter-in-law. Firefighters were called to a home in Guangyuan, Sichuan, China, after 85-year-old Zhang’s arm became trapped.

She was washing her fake teeth in the bathroom when they slipped from her hand and into the toilet at around 9am on Wednesday October 8.

She was stuck in the toilet hole for around four hours. An hour later her daughter-in-law came home and raised the alarm.

Eventually she was pulled free, although it is not known if she retrieved her teeth. Emergency services arrived on the scene and lubricated her arm with soapy water.

A row of car parking spaces in the centre of London has been put on the market for £2.25m.

The eight-space car park, thought to be the most expensive to go on sale in the capital, is in the heart of Mayfair and just a stone’s throw from the Saudi embassy and The Dorchester hotel.

It is also more than four times the average price of property in London, which is currently listed at £514,000.

The spaces will be sold as a single lot and come with a 900-year lease, broker Carter Jonas LLP said in a statement.

Mother stabbed her two daughters before turning knife on herself’

A mother stabbed her two daughters to death before turning the knife on herself, police believe.

Marta Galikowska, 27, was found dead alongside her two daughters Maja, five, and 18-month-old Olga.

Police discovered the three bodies at a semi-detached house in Stoke at about 6.30pm on Sunday, after being alerted by neighbours.

A 27-year-old man, believed to be Mrs Galikowska’s estranged husband Marcin, was arrested at the scene but released without charge on Monday.

Witnesses said they heard ‘a blazing row’ before the stabbings. The couple are understood to have separated before Christmas last year.

Residents living nearby say Maja was stabbed to death on her bed while Olga’s bloodied body was found with her mother in the bathroom.

‘It’s so sad and upsetting, especially when you’ve got children of your own,’ said a 32-year-old neighbour. ‘It’s the children I feel for.’

A witness who lives near them heard a man shouting ‘they’re dead’, and another neighbour who is a nurse went in and tried to feel for a pulse.

Kelly Hughes, 31, said: ‘The woman walked past my house every day to take her daughter to school. She always smiled.’

Staffordshire Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Mrs Galikowska, originally from Poland, moved to Stoke in 2010.

Boy, 10, 'Beat And Killed 90-Year-Old Woman With Her Cane’

Tristen Kurilla, a boy of 10 years, has been charged with beating a 90-year-old to death with her walking stick.

He is alleged to have got angry at Helen Novak when she shouted at him then took her cane and put it around her neck.

His mother, Martha Virbitsky, took him to a police station in Tyler Hill, Pennsylvania, where she told officers that he had confessed to going into Novak’s room when she shouted at him.

Police said: ‘He got mad, lost his temper and grabbed a cane and put it around Novak’s throat.’

Kurilla is alleged to have pinned the victim down on the bed with her cane and punched her several times.

Police say he told his grandfather, who was caring for Novak, that she was bleeding from the mouth.

He has been charged as an adult with criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

He is being held without bail until a preliminary hearing on October 22.

Woman Accused Of Transforming From A Bird Into A Human Dies In Hospital

A middle-aged woman who caused a stir at Cappa Bus Stop, Oshodi Lagos on Friday, after being accused of witchcraft, has died.

It was learnt that the woman, who was badly burnt, was accused of transforming from a bird into a human being.

Some eyewitnesses claimed the woman had fallen as a ‘bird’ from the cable, and confessed to have some metaphysical powers.

Although policemen from the Mushin Division, Olosan were later said to have taken the woman away, she was already unconscious before arriving at the hospital.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, while confirming her death, said the woman’s corpse had been deposited at a morgue.

He said, “Eyewitnesses said there was a bird which fell down and turned into a woman. So, a large crowd gathered round her. She was not attacked. Eventually, when the police got there, they rescued the woman from the surging crowd. But unfortunately, she died, and her body has been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital’s morgue.”

A policeman at the junction said the woman was coming from the Agbado Ijaiye area of Lagos, and heading for her husband’s residence in Mushin.

It was learnt from eyewitnesses that a bird had been seen flying around the area, and had hit a high tension cable and landed on the ground.

One Mr. Sowoloa, who claimed to be an eyewitness, said the passersby formed a crowd around the bird which reportedly turned into a woman, and busied themselves with taking her photographs.

He said, “It was at 12 in the afternoon. I was also at the bus stop with friends. We saw one of the birds hit a high-tension cable. It shrieked and landed on the ground. Before we took any notice, it was a badly burnt woman we saw.

“It is unbelievable but it is true. When we spoke to the woman, she claimed to have some magical powers, and had killed several people. She added that she was returning to her husband’s house in Mushin before the incident. So, some people started taking her photographs.”

Man Electrocuted While Tampering With NEPA Transformer In Festac Town

A young man has met his untimely death while stealing from a transformer in Festac Town area of Lagos State Nigeria.

The unidentified man was electrocuted in the early hours of yesterday while attempting to remove parts from a NEPA transformer at 24 Road, H-Close in Festac Town.

Residents said they heard a loud explosion and sparks from the transformer and suddenly lights in the area went off. And that they rushed to scene to know what happened.

On getting there, they met a motionless body who they initially assumed to be an official of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

But on close observation, he was discovered to have been electrocuted.

The incident created a scene as passer-by thronged the scene to have a glimpse.

The deceased corpse has been removed by the Police and EKEDC officials .

Two teenagers who became ‘poster girls’ for Isis when they left Austria for Syria are now pregnant – and say they want to come home.

Samra Kesinovic, 17, and Sabina Selimovic, 15, left Vienna to take part in the so-called holy war in April, telling parents in a note not to look for them because they had gone ‘to serve and die for Allah.’

However Austrian newspaper Oesterreich reports that the pair – who quickly became poster girls for the radical Islamist group – now say they want to return home after being married off to two Chechen fighters and becoming pregnant.

A spokesman for Austria’s Interior Ministry said, however, that a return is unlikely.

‘The main problem is about people coming back to Austria. Once they leave it is almost impossible,’ said Karl-Heinz Grundboeck.

Burglar Caught After Having Sex With Teddy Bear And Leaving DNA At Crime Scene

A burglar was identified after having sex with a teddy bear and leaving semen inside the toy.

Paul Mountain, 38, from Darwen, Lancashire, was arrested for burglary after police found DNA inside a teddy bear following a raid on an allotment shed.

Mountain, who pleaded guilty to burglary at Blackburn Magistrates Court, explained that he felt an ‘overwhelming need’ for sexual relief after coming down from an amphetamine high.

Prosecutor Dominic Howells said the owner of the allotment had arrived at her shed to find the contents spread all around. Among the shed wreckage was the unfortunate teddy bear.

He said: ‘That was passed to the police and semen found inside came back to this defendant.

‘He told officers he was coming down off amphetamine and felt overwhelming need for sexual relief.’

This is not the first recorded case of teddy bear sex.

Boy Killed By Sacrificial Goat Which Fell From Roof

A schoolboy was killed when a sacrificial goat jumped off a roof and landed on his head.

Heval Yildirim was playing with friends when the animal – which also died – plummeted six floors from the top of a block of flats.

The 13-year-old’s father, Mehmet, had brought the goat into town to sacrifice on Muslim feast day Eid al-Adha.

He could not find anywhere suitable to keep it so stowed it on the roof above the family’s home on the top floor. ‘I am devastated but what more can I say?’ he said. ‘In fact, there is nothing at all to say.’

Police said they were investigating Heval’s death in Diyarbakir, south-eastern Turkey, adding it was the first such case they had heard of.

Girl, 4, Handed Out Packets Of Heroin In Class Thinking They Were Sweets

A mother has been charged after her daughter took 250 packs of heroin and passed them out to her classmates.

Ashley Tull, 30, sent her daughter to Hickory Tree Child Care Centre where the four-year-old girl handed them round thinking they were sweets.

Several of them were taken to hospital over fears they had come into contact with the heroin.

Tull has now been charged with drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child, Delaware State Police said in a statement.

The department said: ‘The white powdery substance, which was still enclosed in the bags, was removed by the teachers and immediately taken to the Selbyville Police Department where it was determined to be heroin.

‘Several children who came in contact with the unopened bags were transported to area hospitals as a precautionary measure and were released after being examined.

‘A total of 249 bags of heroin weighing 3.735 grams was located in the backpack.’

She was released after posting a $6,000 secured bond.

Dogs Attacked My Brother Inside Our Flat - Seven-year-old

Four-year-old Omonigho Abraham is currently battling for his life at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, after his scalp was eaten by two dogs.

The dogs chewed the skin and exposed the victim’s skull during the attack which happened on Thursday on Adegboyega Street, Akesan Estate, in the Igando area of Lagos.

It was reported last week that the police arrested the two dogs for attacking Omonigho.

However, it was learnt from eyewitnesses that the dogs dragged him through the compound for more than one hour while policemen and sympathisers watched helplessly at the entrance of the house for fear of being attacked by the savage dogs.

The immediate elder brother of the victim, seven-year-old Osemudiamen, said that the dogs had chased him, Omonigho and their elder brother, Bobby, while they were taking turns to ride a bicycle.

He said, “We were riding a bicycle in the compound when the big dogs ─ Jack and Gadaffi ─ started barking at us. Later, they moved towards us.

“My elder brother and I quickly ran upstairs and locked the door while Omo (Omonigho), who could not run fast, was left behind.

“When he got to the door, he knocked that we should open for him and as we did, one of the dogs forced his way into the house with him.

“We all ran out. Bobby jumped down from upstairs and I also jumped. But Omo could not jump, so the dog attacked him.

“The other dog also joined in the attack and there was nothing we could do.”

It was learnt that the screams of the children who managed to get outside attracted passersby and residents who besieged the house.

No fewer than seven policemen from the Igando Police Station reportedly stood at the gate, confused.

An eyewitness, who lived on the street, but pleaded anonymity, said, “The police came, but said there was nothing they could do. The dogs were growling as they ate the child alive and that sent fear into everyone. Nobody could move inside to challenge the dogs. Everybody was just shouting in confusion and wielding sticks.”

The victim’s mother, Mrs. Helen Abraham, who was away when the incident happened, said her son had been injured by the time she arrived at the scene.

She said, “When I got there, I met a crowd. They asked me not to go inside, but I refused to listen to them. One of the dogs emerged from the corridor with blood stains in its mouth. I ran inside. The other dog, on sighting me, pounced, but I fought back. It later ran away. I called on people who joined me to take him to a hospital.

“This has been a nightmare I want to wake up from.”

The victim’s father, Mr. Odia Abraham, said the medical personnel at the Igando General Hospital asked them to transfer him to LASUTH because of the severity of the attack.

“The doctor at Igando said his condition was critical and we should take him to LASUTH. When the incident happened, I was away at work.

“But when I got home, I saw parts of my son’s scalp on the floor. The dogs dragged him through the compound for about one and half hours and nobody moved near them. His face was also affected, but thankfully it did not get to his eyes.

“His two brothers, who survived, also got injured. The seven-year-old who spoke with you has a fracture, which we are still treating. The other, who is 13 years, has a minor injury.

“We marked Omo’s fourth year birthday in June. He is a very intelligent boy and he always tells me he wants to be a soldier because he loves to protect people. I am hoping this thing will not affect his brain,” he said.

The police were said to have arrested the owner of the dogs, one Stanley Wesley.

A resident said the people living in the house had warned Wesley about his dogs but he refused to listen.

She said, “We became alarmed when he brought a third dog recently which was more ferocious and bigger than the others. Whenever he took that dog on a walk, even adults would be scared.

“People told him to find a place to keep his giant dogs, but he refused to listen. It was the new dog that first followed those children into the house.”

The matron in charge of the ward where the victim was admitted refused to comment on the issue unless the Public Relations Officer of the hospital gave an approval.

However, the PRO was said to be unavailable as he was on leave.

A medical officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim’s condition was “serious and critical.”

The Police spokesperson, Lagos State Command, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said the police were the ones that actually rescued the victim.

Nwosu said, “I can confirm to you that on September 25, at about 5.40pm, dogs belonging to one Stanley Wesley attacked and harmed a four-year-old boy and the matter was reported at the Igando Police Division.

“The report from the Divisional Police Officer indicated that the dogs were being kept to undergo some tests, while their owner had been arrested. The report that the police did not do anything is not true.”

Man With 17-hour Erection Has 24 Injections In His Penis To Make It Go Down

A hotel worker has had to have two pints of blood removed from his penis after getting an erection that lasted 17 hours.

Doctors first tried to slow Jason Garnett’s blood flow by injecting his penis 24 times.

But that didn’t work so they had to come up with another way of making the 23-year-old’s penis go down.

The erection started on Friday morning when he woke up with ‘morning glory’ after sleeping with a friend.

He tried various things including jogging and an ice bath before he was taken to hospital by his housemate who was in hysterics.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘Ending up in hospital with a permanent erection was probably the most embarrassing day of my life.

‘Seeing them stab my penis with a needle wa a horrible experience – like something out of a horror film. The pain was 10 out of 10.’

He added that after its ordeal, his penis is ‘a bit black and blue’.

Pastor, Others Hijack Truck With N25m Goods

The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Adeniji Adele, Lagos, has arrested a pastor, Peter Iyasele, and two others for allegedly hijacking a truck with N25m worth of goods in the Ijora area of Lagos.

It was learnt that while the two other suspects ─ Anthony Ibiade and Amas Debar ─ were arrested in Ijora, the 56-year-old clergy was arrested in Igando, Lagos.

It was also gathered from the police that the hijacked truck, which contained 25 heavy duty outdoor airconditioners, belonging to a company based in Apapa, Lagos.

According to the police, the market value of the heavy duty air conditioners is about N25m.

The suspects were arrested after information got to DCP Chris Ejike. He subsequently directed his men to trail the suspects who were on the move to sell the products.

It was learnt that after the truck, which was initially heading for Ikeja, was hijacked by the suspects, the airconditioners were taken to a warehouse in Ibadan, Oyo State.

However, after the police swooped on the suspects, 22 units of the products were recovered, while one had been vandalised. The remaining two were said to have been sold.

It was gathered that two members of the syndicate ─ Oliver and another whose name had yet to be known ─ were still at large and were believed to have sold the two air conditioners.

The police said the suspects were experts in hijacking and diverting trucks containing electronic appliances and other household items.

In his statement to the police, the pastor said he was working as a transporter before he took to hijacking trucks. He added that the new job was to “source for funds to sustain my church.”

Iyasele, an indigene of Edo State, said in his statement that he heard a call from God, but there was no money to pursue it. Hence, he had to source for funds to be able “to survive in the ministry”.

It was gathered that 38-year-old Debar and Ibiade, 53, were the first to be arrested by the police before they led detectives to the pastor.

It was learnt that Iyasele’s church is situated along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Ibiade, in his own statement, confessed to the police that he was the one who arranged for the driver who took the hijacked truck from Lagos to the warehouse in Ibadan.

The suspects, who were apprehended on Wednesday, September 10, had been charged to court.

An Ohio woman and her partner have sued a Chicago-area sperm bank after she became pregnant with sperm donated by a black man instead of a white man as she’d intended. Cramblett said during a telephone interview on Wednesday. Jennifer Cramblett was five months pregnant and happy with her life in April 2012. She and her partner had married months earlier in New York, and within days of their nuptials she had become pregnant with donor sperm at a fertility clinic in Canton.

Therapists have recommended that Cramblett, Zinkon and Payton move to a more a racially diverse community with good schools, the lawsuit said.

It’s unclear who the sperm bank’s attorney is.

The lawsuit says the sperm bank has no electronic record-keeping and no quality controls that would have prevented it from sending the wrong sperm to fertility clinics.
