'Dead' Prostitute Rises From Coffin In Zimbabwe

A women who had been presumed dead after collapsing while allegedly having sex in a hotel in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, suddenly and violently awoke just after police had put her body into a coffin. People had gathered to observe the dead body being removed in the metal container when the woman awoke screaming 'You want to kill me!' at police. You can imagine their reaction.

It was like a movie. People were running away in different directions. It was a scary incident because we were all convinced that she had died because she was just cold.' said a witness. During this whole drama, the woman's partner managed to sneak away and avoid the police. Once the woman calmed down, they left with an empty coffin.

A Bikita man fatally struck his wife with an iron bar after he allegedly caught her feeding another man he suspected to be her lover. Zvenyika Bhasera of Mundzingwa village under Chief Mazungunye allegedly struck his wife, Vongai Muonde (36) with an iron bar on the head after finding her busy feeding another man in a secluded bushy area.

Bhasera (42), who was allegedly watching the drama from a nearby hide-out was allegedly incensed after he saw his wife taking food to her alleged lover at their usual love nest in the village prompting him to pounce on the love birds.

Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Peter Zhanero yesterday said Bhasera had since been arrested and was being charged with murder. He said his wife’s body was taken to Silveira Mission Hospital for a post-mortem.

On the day in question, Bhasera went into a bushy area near his home and hid close to an area he suspected to be a love nest for his wife and a fellow villager. After some time he allegedly saw his wife carrying some food which she had cooked and taking it to a bushy area.

Bhasera then allegedly saw his wife and the suspected lover briefly chatting before his wife started feeding her lover. In a fit of rage, Bhasera armed himself with an iron bar and charged towards the couple who were having a nice time.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For 18 Years After Raping 3-Year-old Daughter

A Harare magistrate has jailed a 22-year-old man for 15 years after convicting him on charges of raping his three-year-old daughter. The man, whose name has been withheld to protect the girl’s identity, escaped with a lesser jail term after magistrate Hosea Mujaya — who had initially sentenced him to 18 years — suspended three years on condition of good behaviour.

The court heard the man from Chiweshe Farm raped the minor after sending his wife to borrow a chicken from a neighbouring family on March 13 this year. When the mother returned after a while, she found the two sitting outside and asked the child to adjust her skirt. The minor then told her mother that she wanted to change her clothes and went inside the house.

The girl’s mother followed her intending to inquire what had happened. The woman examined the girl’s clothes and discovered that it was stained with semen.

She immediately made a police report, leading to the man’s arrest.

Immigration Official Raped Border Jumper

An Immigration official here allegedly raped a border jumper who had been deported from South Africa on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at around 1 am on Monday at the International Organisation of Migration Reception and Support Centre.

The suspect had been deployed to IOM where he conducted screening of the illegal immigrants with other security agents. At this centre deportees from South Africa are offered overnight accommodation, food and transport to their respective homes on voluntary basis.

The police spokesman for Matabeleland South Inspector Philisani Ndebele said the suspect Brighton Mavhiya(27) was now assisting police with investigations. He said on the day in question the woman age 31, was repatriated from South Africa at around 5 pm for breaching that country’s immigration laws.

She was handed over to Mavhiya and other authorities at the IOM reception centre for further assistance.

“After undergoing a rigorous screening process, the woman was offered overnight accommodation pending transportation to her home the following day (Monday)," said Insp Ndebele.

“She approached Mavhiya and asked him to buy some airtime near the same reception centre. The suspect then offered to bring the airtime later in the day and was shown the woman’s room.”

Insp Ndebele said Mavhiya disappeared from the reception centre and resurfaced on the following day at around 1 am.

Mavhiya, said Insp Ndebele, then entered the woman's room and forced himself on the victim’s bed and raped her once after which he disappeared into darkness. He said the matter was reported to the police immediately leading to Mavhiya’s subsequent arrest.

He said Mavhiya would soon appear in court charged with rape.

Thief Nearly Chops Off Woman’s Hand Trying To Steal Purse

A Moroccan man went to rob a Spanish woman of her bag but ended up accidentally almost chopping off her hand with his knife, police have said. The 60-year-old was returning to her home in Mataro, north of Barcelona, at 11 p.m. on February 27 when she was jumped on by two attackers.

Thrown to the ground, they tried to steal her bag — but she put up a fight. It led to one of the men, named as 21-year-old Rachid EA, pulling out a large knife to try and cut the strap.

But he accidentally slipped and ended up slashing her hand — severing the tendons at her wrist. The woman was taken to Mataro Hospital, where she underwent surgery.

Her alleged attacker was arrested on Friday, with the case only coming to light this week. Rachid has been charged with violent robbery, intimidation and wounding.

The man, reportedly "well known in police circles for a number of prior run-ins with cops," is currently in custody.

Mistaken Identity: Police Kill Trader During Operation

Policemen attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad have been accused of killing a 46-year-old petty trader in Ijaye-Ojokoro, Lagos State. The deceased, Eze Okoro, was killed last Friday while the policemen were on an anti-robbery operation.

The deceased’s wife ,Ugonna, alleged that the policemen snuffed out the life of Eze few metres from his residence at 1 Oguntolu Street, Ijaiye-Ojokoro. Ugonna said her husband of over 15 years had just finished eating and had gone to relax with a neighbour, Chinedu Nnwanu, and his pregnant wife, Nneka as he usually did when there was power outage at night.

She said, “My husband had just finished having dinner and he stepped outside to see our neighbours who live opposite our house. They usually relax outside whenever there is power outage.

“A few minutes before 11pm, we heard sporadic gunshots and out of panic, I held unto my seven-year-old son and ran for cover. Few minutes later when the shooting abated, I tried to reach my husband on his mobile phone but he was not picking it up.”

Ugonna said at that point she started to imagine that something was amiss.

“I summoned courage and stepped out of the compound and immediately noticed that my husband and his friends were not at the spot. I started yelling out my husband’s name but there was no answer,” she said.

She said after some time, some neighbours informed her that from their windows, they observed some policemen carrying a man whom they suspected was lifeless into their vehicle. In a state of confusion, she was able to pull a call through to some of her siblings and that of her husband who immediately formed a search party for their relation and the policemen who were alleged to have taken away the body

She said they visited the Ijaye-Ojokoro Police Station under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred but all attempts to locate her husband proved abortive.

“Our search that night failed to yield the expected result as the officers on duty claimed that no such incident was ever reported to them neither had any team of policemen told them that they were operating in the area,” she said.

Eze’s widow said the following day, some employees of a hotel in the area told her that the policemen who had come to operate the previous night were from the Federal SARS. She said she was told by a senior officer that her husband was killed in error and that his corpse had been taken to Yaba Military Hospital’s morgue.

“On getting to Federal SARS command, some junior officers apparently wanting to cover up their colleagues’ error denied the command’s complicity in the killing. However, a senior officer intervened by not only admitting that they killed Eze in error, but informed that his corpse was deposited at the Yaba Military Hospital’s morgue,” she said.

A resident, who craved anonymity, said the policemen had also attempted to kill others in the area after mistaking them for robbers but Eze was the only unfortunate person.

He said, “When the shooting started, Eze and his friends were running helter-skelter. The policemen first of all approached Nneka but she immediately shouted ‘please don’t shoot me, I am pregnant’. That was how she and her husband were spared.

“After Nneka and Chinedu got inside, we heard Eze begging the policemen and shouting that he was not a thief but the policemen obviously did not believe him because we heard gunshots soon after.”

Eze’s widow called on the police authorities to make sure that her husband’s killers were brought to justice. When contacted on the telephone, the spokesman for the Federal SARS, Lekan Ogundare, said he was not aware of the incident but promised to find out.

Alamieyeseigha’s Pardon: Gowon, Shagari, Others Have Disappointed Nigerians!!!

Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, former special adviser on National Assembly Matters to former president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari said former  leaders, General Yakubu Gowon, Alhaji Shagari, Chief Ernest Shonekan, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar have disappointed Nigerians for endorsing the state pardon extended to the former Bayelsa Chief Executive, Deprieye  Alamieyeseigha who was convicted for financial crime. According to him, the role of the former Heads of State in the questionable amnesty  would no doubt lower their estimation in the eyes of the public locally and internationally.

Yakassai, who spoke in an interview on Sunday in Kano noted that  the idea of bringing former Heads of State together is for them to offer credible advise to the leadership using their experience and maturity, adding: “this is why I was clearly disappointed that the body is gradually turning to a rubber stamp for the President by its endorsement of such questionable action.

“I am disappointed by this development not because I have anything against the former Bayelsa governor, whom I have known since he left the Nigerian Air Force but it’s a different situation now, its on record that this is a person, who was convicted on charges of corruption of monumental magnitude.”

He noted that the act by the federal government does not portray Nigeria as a country determined to fight bribery and corruption.

Yakasai added that  “because such a pardon could not have been granted without the Council, more so that the calibre of people that constitute the NCS are leaders respected locally and internationally who should not have endorsed such pardon. Now, for us to pardon a man like Alamieyeseigha without any condition does not speak well of us as a nation.”

He then called on leaders “particularly the former Heads of State to avoid issues that would dent their credibility or lower their estimation in the eyes of the public , locally and internationally as evident in the chains of reactions that had trailed the current issue.”

Meanwhile, The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has called for understanding by Nigerians on the amnesty granted by President Goodluck Jonathan to former governor of Bayelsa state, Dieprieye Alamieyeseigha, former Bank Executive, Shettima Bulama and others, stating that the president took the action in good faith.

Tukur, in a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune, said the beneficiaries of the state pardon deserved the merit based on their conduct over the years as well as the good contributions they had continued to make in the task of ensuring peace, progress and prosperity of Nigeria.

The Federal Government had, last week, announced pardon for Alamieyeseigha, Bulama and five others including, the late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua; former Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant. General Oladipo Diya; former Minister of Works, the late Major General Abdulkareem Adisa; ex-Major Bello Magaji and Alhaji Mohammed Lima Biyu, a step which continued to generate controversy and condemnation from across the globe.

Tukur berated the opposition parties for inciting Nigerians on the issue through the media, stating that the idea of granting amnesty fell within the exclusive powers of the president as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution, adding that Jonathan consulted widely before taking the step.

He said it was wrong for any political party, group or individual to harass President Jonathan for granting pardon to those who deserved such, stating that the beneficiaries of the amnesty had, over the years, shown by their conduct that they deserved to be pardoned.

He said granting of Amnesty is a clear cut means of getting the best attitude out of individuals as instituted in the political programmes of different countries across the world, stating,” Do you ever grant pardon to the innocent”

Former Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, and a socio crusader, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav,  has stated that the pardon granted former governor of Bayelsa State, DSP Alamieyesiegha, was another means of encouraging corruption in the country.

Tsav, who spoke with newsmen in Makurdi, on Sunday, described the pardon as charade and nepotism, stating that it was coming from the president to his former boss.

According to him, ‘the state pardon granted Alamieyesiegha by President Goodluck Jonathan was a charade to favour his former master and thus encourage corruption in the country. He noted that the inclusion of Generals Oladipo Diya and Adisa was to deceive Nigerians and justify his nepotism because, according to him, the duo had already been pardoned by former head of state, General Abubakar Abdusalam in 1999.

He further said, “Jonathan is a liability to Nigeria” and asked rhetorically “why did he not extend the pardon to Al-Mustapha”  lamenting that the country in this present dispensation was drifting to a dangerous level.

Would the state pardon be extended to James Ibori and others as well???

Money Doubler Priestess Arrested

A 30-year-old priestess has been arrested together with four men who were her accomplices in connection with an alleged money doubling scam. Patricia Asieduaa, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, a fetish priestess, conned people to believe that she could double cash and ended up extorting money from them but could not deliver on her promise.

The five have since been caged at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, while victims who fell prey to the plot have thronged the premises upon hearing the news.

COP Prosper Agblor, Director General of CID, briefing journalists on Thursday, noted that the suspects fooled people into believing that they had magic powers and could double any amount of money. He said that the suspect and her accomplices had since September 2012 been advertising on radio stations in Accra and Kasoa that she had powers of solving problems and changing the fortunes of people.

The advertisement on radio and television, the CID Director General pointed out, attracted a large number of customers to her shrine located at Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.

“She made false representations to persons who visited her shrine that she could multiply their money in several folds and make them rich instantly.”

In addition to claiming to solve myriads of spiritual problems, COP Agblor said the priestess also alleged that she could provide lotto numbers which could make stakers hit the jackpot.

“Under these pretences, Patricia Asieduaa demanded and obtained from her victims various sums of money with the promise of performing some rituals.”

COP Agblor said the priestess made a request to her victims to acquire a particular oil called ‘Melindu oil’ and ‘Cammo oil’ which was to be bought from one Mohammed Rabiu, who was later identified as one of the accomplices.

“None of the persons who visited Patrica Asieduaa got the response they wanted,” said the Director General who added that when the victims realised that it was fraudulent they demanded their money but they were brutally assaulted by bodyguards of the priestess.

He stated that the police arrested the priestess and her accomplices on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

As at press time yesterday, 35 people had come forward and identified themselves to the police as victims of the scam. A total sum of GH¢58,780 had been extorted from them. The priestess, COP Agblor stated, had admitted receiving sums of money from persons who visited her shrine but claimed the victims failed to abide by the directives of her gods resulting in their inability to obtain the expected results.

“This is a clear case of fraud,” the CID Director General stated and added that “Patricia Asiedua and her accomplice will be arraigned before court.”

He warned the public to be vigilant of such scams and urged them not to fall into the trap of such criminals by believing everything they hear. He advised that the police should be notified immediately the public obtain information on anyone who claims to have the power to double money.

“The public must be cautious of the activities of persons who make wild promises of changing their fortunes or use various methods to defraud them. Inform the police of the activities of any such persons for them to be dealt with.”

The CID Director General urged the media to refrain from allowing their mediums to be used in perpetrating crime.

Victims Account

Bright Kattah, a 25-year-old pharmacist, who is one of the victims, told DAILY GUIDE that he was enticed by the performance of the money doubling powers of the priestess on an Accra based television.

“Because I saw it on television, I thought it was credible,” said the young man who wanted to make quick money, adding “everybody needs money so if you have someone who can make it easier for you, why not? Anyone would jump at such an opportunity.”

He said when he visited the shrine with GH¢500, he was assured it could be multiplied to GH¢50,000, but he was asked to pay an extra GH¢1,500 within one week to be used to buy some items for the ritual.

Another victim, Kofi Charles, a 42-year-old seafarer, said he heard the priestess on a radio station and called on her with an amount of GH¢1,000, which was to be increased to GH¢50,000.

“I was asked to bring three goats, which would cost GH¢2,500, but I was only able to pay GH¢1,500 and given the telephone number of a man at Nima to contact for a special oil.”

“I contacted the man at Nima and bought the oil for GH¢100 but when I brought it back, the priestess said a bad spirit in my room had contaminated the oil so it cannot be used.”

Most of the victims, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE, said they were determined to get their money back “by hook or crook.”

Man Impregnates Daughter

An unemployed man has been dragged to an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling his biological daughter on several occasions, impregnating her in the process. The accused person, David Nanige, aged 41, was put before a court presided over by Sedina Agbemava where he was charged with incest and defilement of a girl under the age of 16.

He pleaded guilty with explanation and told the court that, “I did not touch my daughter but saw my younger brother having sex with her some months ago, my Lord.”

The accused person stated that the victim later fell ill and he took her to the hospital, where “she was found to be pregnant and mentioned me as the one responsible”.

Ms Agbemava consequently entered a plea of not guilty for him and had him remanded in custody to re-appear on April 16, 2013.

Narrating events leading to the arrest of the accused person the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, told the court that the complainant is Amina Quarcoo, self-employed the grandmother of the victim and lives at Kaneshie.

He said the victim is a pupil of a Junior High School located at Dansoman while the accused person is an unemployed man and the biological father of the victim.

According to him, in 2012 Nanige arrived from Kumasi to live with the victim and her younger sister after the death of their mother, who is the ex- wife of the accused person.

Furthermore, he stated that the accused person in the course of his stay with his daughters, on several occasions, defiled the victim and warned her not to tell anybody about it.

The police officer noted that the victim became pregnant and when questioned by her grandmother she mentioned the accused person as the one who impregnated her. The chief inspector noted the police arraigned Nanige after concluding investigations.

A Zimbabwean Man Bashes His Father To Death For Having SEX With His Wife

A Zimbabwean Gutu man who killed his father accusing him of having an intimate affair with his wife will stay in prison for the next 15 years, a High Court judge has ruled. Justice Charles Hungwe last week sentenced Clemence Deme to an effective 15-year jail term after convicting him of murdering his biological father, Kumunda Muturiki two years ago.

Deme (27) of Mabika village under Chief Munyika in Gutu with the help of his young brother, Emmanuel Mutiriki (20) thrashed their 63-year-old father to death after they accused him of being int1mate with Deme's wife.

In his ruling Justice Hungwe said Deme deserved a long jail sentence because he committed a serious offence. Justice Hungwe said cases of murder were on the rise so perpetrators deserved stiffer penalties to send a clear message to the society that those who commit such crimes will face the wrath of the law.

Prosecutor Tineyi Matenga told the court that on 7 June, 2011, around 7pm, Deme and his brother Emmanuel went to his father's homestead. The court heard that the two confronted their mother and asked the whereabouts of their father. They are said to have been told that he was sleeping in his bedroom hut.

Deme and his brother proceeded to the hut and found their father asleep. He allegedly started to assault him with a wrenched spanner on the head twice. It was also stated that Deme then grabbed a Mopani log and continued to assault his father all over the body. His mother Rodah Mutiriki tried to restrain her son but failed and rushed to her neighbour for help.

When she returned with the neighbour, Deme had allegedly left but the woman found found her husband languishing in pain in the hut. Emmanuel then came, dragged his father out of the hut and began kicking him, accusing him of having sex with his brother's wife, it is alleged.

The hapless woman reportedly rushed to seek help from more neighbours but this time when she returned, her husband had stopped breathing. They reported the case to the police leading to the arrest of the two. Emmanuel's charges were however withdrawn after the State failed to level substantial evidence against him.

Forbidden Love' Princes Dies

She was one of the better kept secrets of Sweden's royal household: A commoner and divorcee whose relationship with Prince Bertil was seen as a threat to the Bernadotte dynasty. In a touching royal romance, Welsh-born Princess Lilian and her Bertil kept their love unofficial for decades and were both in their 60s when they finally received the king's blessing to get married.
Princess Lilian of Sweden is seen in Stockholm in December 2005

Lilian died in her Stockholm home on Sunday at age 97. The Royal Palace didn't give a cause of death, but Lilian suffered from Alzheimer's disease and had been in poor health for several years. She met Sweden's Prince Bertil in 1943, but his obligations to the throne and Lilian's status as a divorced commoner prevented them from making their love public. The couple's sacrifices and lifelong dedication to one another gripped the hearts of Swedes.

"If I were to sum up my life, everything has been about my love," the witty, petite princess said of her husband when she turned 80 in 1995. "He's a great man, and I love him."

Born Lilian Davies in Swansea, Wales, on 30 August 1915, she moved to London at 16 to embark on a career as a model and an actress, showcasing hats and gloves in commercials and taking on small roles in movies. She met British actor Ivan Craig, whom she married in 1940.

A Teenage Girl Gives Birth During Flight From South Africa To New York

A baby was born several hours after departure on board South African Airways flight 203 from Johannesburg bound for New York on Saturday evening.  Fatawmatt Kaba, 17, of Angola went into labour four hours into the 16-hour trip. The newborn, Mamel Joella, was born about 38 000 feet in the air over West Africa and therefore will not be recognised as a US citizen since he was not born in US airspace.

According to the report, crew members hurriedly escorted the mom-to-be to the front of the plane. The pilot announced the medical emergency, calling for the assistance of any doctors on board. Pediatric anesthesiologist Dr Julie Williamson, 41, came to the aid of Kaba and was assisted by another doctor and a nurse also on board the New York bound flight.

“It was exhilarating,” Williamson said in the report. The baby was delivered in two pushes according to Williamson who had been returning from a week-long medical conference in South Africa when she was forced to swap theory for practice. The quick-acting doctor, who hadn’t delivered a baby since she was in medical school 15 years ago, described the little guy as “vigorous and healthy.”

“He nursed right away,” said Williamson. “And she was a very strong woman — never cried, never complained. It was amazing.”

Kaba and baby Mamel were doing so well after the birth that they were allowed to return to their seats afterwards and the doctors gave the all clear for the flight to continue.

One of the passengers on board Jamahl Winters, 32, said of the air-born experience, “You could see his little umbilical cord still attached. It was amazing. I didn’t think stuff like that really happened in real life. I thought it was something that happened in TV and movies.”

Port Authority Emergency Technicians boarded the plane when the flight landed at JFK around 05:30 and then took mother and child to Jamaica Hospital. A beaming Kaba, cradling her bundle of joy at the medical centre said, “I’m very happy, I’m fine. He’s fine.”

A statement from the airline said officials initially considered redirecting the flight to West Africa once it became clear early Saturday that there was “a medical emergency”  but after the doctors gave the all clear the flight continued to New York as planned.

Farmer Jailed For Defiling Stepdaughter

A 40-year-old farmer, who mixed local gin (aka Akpetseshi) with coca cola and gave it to his 13-year-old stepdaughter to drink before defiling her, was on Friday sentenced to seven years imprisonment by an Accra circuit court. Maxwell Kofi Etuah, charged with defilement, pleaded not guilty.

The court, presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava, found him guilty after the trial and convicted him accordingly. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Johnson K. Anim, told the court that the complainant was Alex Benyah, the victim’s father. The victim’s mother is married to the convict and they all reside at New Aplaku, Accra.

Chief Inspector Anim said on October 2011, the victim travelled with the mother to their hometown. Later the victim returned to Accra alone because she had to attend school. In the absence of her mother, the prosecution said the convict took advantage and offered the victim Akpetseshi and coca cola to drink and she became intoxicated.

Chief Inspector Anim said the convict had sex with the victim and she bled profusely. Etuah then asked the victim not to tell anyone else she would die.

According to prosecution, since then, Etuah had been touching and fondling the victim’s breast when nobody was in sight.

On January 2, last year, the victim’s mother travelled and the convict had sex with the victim and, this time around, the victim developed an unbearable abdominal pain and, hence, could not walk.

The prosecution said the victim informed her father who led her to the police station to lodge a complaint. The police issued a medical form to the victim for examination and treatment.

The medical form, endorsed by the Kasoa Government Hospital, confirmed that she had been defiled.

A Zimbabwean woman in love with two men came up with an unusual solution... she got both to move in with her. Maria Vogel, 33, originally from Bulawayo, now shares the family home in Barking, London, with her children Laura, 16, and Amy, 12 and the two men in her life Paul Butzki and Peter Gruman.

Maria, who grew up in Saurcetown and did part of her secondary education at Northlea, was 15 when she met Paul in school and she fell pregnant with Laura two years later.

The couple got married before they had their second daughter, Amy, but the relationship hit a rocky patch in 2006. Maria told the Daily Mirror: “Paul was out of work for six months and it put a strain on our relationship. The stress led to less sex and we grew apart. Although we carried on with life – cooking, cleaning, looking after the children – we’d lost our intimacy. The relationship was more brother and sister than a couple.”

Around the same time a new manager, Peter, started at Maria’s workplace.

“Someone introduced me to Peter and when we smiled at one another, I could feel the chemistry straight away,” she says. “Until that moment, I’d been happily married for 13 years to my childhood sweetheart and had never thought about being with another man.”

Peter, who was also married at the time, recalls the same instant attraction. “It was like a bolt from the blue... love at first sight,” he says.

Soon the pair were meeting secretly. “We’d meet at the local pub for lunch,” says Maria. “One day he put a hand on my leg and my whole body began trembling with desire. I knew it was wrong but soon we were sleeping together.”

Their affair carried on for a year before Paul stumbled on messages between them on Maria’s phone. She managed to convince him they were just friends. But a few months later her lover left his wife and moved from Luton, Beds, to be closer to Maria in Barking.

“I grew even closer to Peter,” says Maria. “Paul had to go away on business for a few weeks and so Peter took the children shopping, spoiling them rotten with gifts.”

But on Valentine’s Day in 2010, Maria says she could no longer cope with the secrecy. “I began to feel more and more that my future lay with Peter,” she says. “So I confessed my affair to Paul, and moved out to stay with Peter.”

Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal And Forbes Magazine Are Fighting Over His Ranking In The List Of Biggest Billionaires.

Alwaleed, angry that Forbes values him at a paltry $20 billion, has formally severed all connections to Forbes' annual list of "World's Billionaires," now in its 27th year.

Alwaleed, a Saudi billionaire and chairman of investment services company Kingdom Holding, didn't even crack the top 20 on Forbes' list. He's listed as the 26th richest person, sandwiched between David Thomson, chairman of Canadian media company Thomson Reuters (TRI), and activist investor Carl Icahn of New York.

Alwaleed, whose investments include Citigroup (C, Fortune 500), News Corp. (NWSA, Fortune 500) and Twitter, said he prefers Bloomberg Billionaires, a list started last year, which values him at $28 billion and ranks him as the world's 16th richest person.

Kingdom Holdings issued a press release slamming the Forbes list as "false and inaccurate" for refusing to include the stock valuation of the multi-faceted Riyadh-based conglomerate, which is publicly traded on Saudi Arabia's stock exchange, the Tadawul. KHC, as the company is known, accused Forbes of being "biased against the Middle East" for refusing to take the Tadawul more seriously.

"We have worked very openly with the Forbes team over the years and have on multiple occasions pointed out problems with methodology that need correction," said Shadi Sanbar, chief financial officer of Kingdom Holding, in a press release addressed to Forbes chairman Steve Forbes. "However ... we have decided that Forbes has no intention of improving the accuracy of their valuation of our holdings and we have made the decision to move on."

But Forbes is sticking to its list, and its methodology. The lead story on its site Tuesday defended its $20 billion valuation of Alwaleed -- less than the $29.6 billion that he claimed to Forbes, which would have put him in the top 10. Forbes said that even when including Alwaleed's $9.7 billion worth of assets not related to Kingdom Holding -- including $4.6 billion in real estate, $1.1 billion in media companies, another $3.5 billion in company investments, and a list of "planes, yachts, cars and jewels" -- it "cannot justify an estimate of more than $20 billion."

Forbes spokeswoman Chelsie Gosk said Alwaleed will be included in the list going forward, even if he chooses not to participate.

Three Minor Sisters Raped and Murdered in India

Maharashtra Police on Tuesday detained three people in connection with the rape and murder of three minor sisters, an official said. An official from Bhandara's Lakhani police station said that three suspects have been taken into custody.

"They are being interrogated for their possible role in the rape and murder of the three minor girls," he said.

The police official refused to name the suspects or confirm whether they were acquainted with the victims stating that it would be too premature. The three girls aged five, nine and 11 had gone missing since Feb 14 from Lakhani village of Bhandara district, 65 km from Nagpur. Their mother lodged a complaint with the police after they did not return from school.

Additional Director General of Police Ahmed Javed had said many people have been questioned in the case. Since then, the police have been going around in circles with their investigations, not having found any substantial leads leading to the perpetrators of the crime.

A police official had been suspended for dereliction of duty after the incident. Two days after the incident of rape and murder, some villagers discovered the brutalised bodies of the victims from a well near Murmadi village, following which the police registered a case of 'accidental death'.

It was only after the villagers took to the streets, blocked traffic and protested outside the police station that police finally lodged a case of murder, kidnapping, rape and other serious charges.

Police Brutality: Punjab Government Orders Magisterial Probe After Outrage!!!

Taking serious view of the alleged thrashing of a girl by policemen in Punjab's Tarn Taran district, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. The Chief Minister has directed the Tarn Taran District Magistrate to ascertain the causes and circumstances which led to this incident and submit the inquiry report within three weeks, an official spokesman said.

The 22-year-old girl and her father were allegedly thrashed by policemen when they sought action against some persons who teased the girl and passed vulgar comments in full public view. Badal termed the incident as an unpardonable offence and said anyone connected with this grave crime, howsoever influential he may be, would not be spared and brought to book as per the law of the land.

Meanwhile, the victim talking to reporters at Tarn Taran demanded the dismissal of the two cops, who thrashed her in full public view. "Stringent punishment must be meted out to the cops," she added.

Punjab Police had on Monday evening placed both cops Davinder Singh and Saraj Singh under suspension and marked a departmental inquiry against them. The girl in her complaint alleged that while she along with her father was coming home after attending a marriage function a truck driver and his accomplices started to tease her besides passing vulgar comments. When she and her father approached the nearby police picket, both were beaten up by the policemen on duty, who allegedly let off the accused after accepting bribe, the girl alleged in her complaint.

However, SP Kanwaljit Singh Dhillon had said on Monday that father of the girl, Kashmir Singh was drunk and creating "nuisance" at a marriage function at Gobindwal road.

When police personnel reached the spot and caught hold of Kashmir, his daughter resisted, the SSP said. Kashmir's daughter Harbinder Kaur intervened and resisted while her father was being taken away to police station, the SSP claimed.

In the melee, the turbans (head gears) of two head constables came out following which they beat the girl.

Man Sodomises Girlfriend’s Sister

William Mensah, a 33-year-old driver, has been dragged to court after he was said to have sodomised the 10-year-old sister of his girlfriend. The accused person, who was put before an Accra Circuit Court presided over Sedina Agbemava, was charged with four counts of indecent assault and defilement. He denied any wrongdoing and has been remanded in police custody to re-appear on March 28, 2013.

Presenting the facts of the case, the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, who presented the facts of the case, stated that the complainant was the mother of the victim whom she and her sister lived with at Apapa in Labadi. He said the accused person lived on the same compound with the complainant and was the boyfriend of the victim’s elder sister, adding that the two had been in a relationship for some time now.

According to him, the victim and her friends often watched television in the driver’s sitting-room.

The chief inspector noted that between 2011 and 2012, Mensah invited the 10-year-old into his sitting-room and told her to lie on the floor and when she did, he took off his underwear and inserted his penis into her anus. The driver, afterwards, warned her not to tell anybody about the incident so she kept her ordeal a secret till her mother was informed that the victim had a smelly discharge emanating from her vagina and started wetting herself.

He said the complainant called her daughter and examined her and saw some fluid emanating from her vagina and consequently asked her what the matter was but she failed to tell her mother her ordeal.

The prosecutor noted that the complainant again asked the victim on February 20, 2013 and she narrated her ordeal so a complaint was lodged with the La Police. He said a form was issued to the victim to attend hospital while the case was later sent to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit. The driver was consequently arrested after police concluded investigations.

Tall Soldier Shot In Head By Stray Bullet While Standing In "Secure" Area

A 6ft 7in tall soldier was killed when he was hit in the head by friendly fire on a training exercise, an inquest has heard. Ranger Michael Maguire, 21, died when he shot by a machine gun after returning safely from Afghanistan. The soldier – known to his friends as "High Tower"- had been standing in a designated administrative area, deemed to be secure, outside the training area when the stray bullet hit him.

The inquest heard Ranger Maguire, who was not wearing a helmet, was waiting in a field a kilometre away from the action zone when he was killed. Ranger Maguire had survived a tour of duty in Afghanistan but died following the accident at Castlemartin range in Pembrokeshire.

Army medic Michael Gleeson said: "I was sat in the battlefield ambulance when we received a call to say someone had been hurt.

"As we arrived the people around him started grabbing kit and throwing it out of the way.

"They were making a work space for us – which made it clear we where dealing with a serious casualty.

"I ran over to him, they had applied an emergency bandage to Michael Maguire's wound, to the left side of his temple.

"I applied CPR to him until for 15 to 20 minutes until an air ambulance arrived – the whole time I was with him he was unconscious."

Cardiff Coroner's Court heard how Ranger Maguire was on army training exercise with the 1st battalion of The Royal Irish Regiment when he died. The soldiers were taking part in a training exercise firing machine guns and rifles series of static and pop-up targets when the accident happened.

Ranger Maguire was stood in an administration area where soldiers eat their lunch and pack their gear when he was struck in the head. He was rushed by helicopter to the University Hospital in Wales suffering from head injuries but doctors were unable to save him. His father Michael Snr told the hearing: "I loved Michael dearly and will miss him terribly.

"He was a sporting, fit lad and very lovable and he was always very happy with army life."

Ranger Maguire was from Bantry, in County Cork, Ireland and went to school at nearby St Goban's College. After school he joined the 1st Battalion, The Royal Irish Regiment on 10 May, 2010, and was sent to Afghanistan four months later.
