David Cameron has resigned as prime minister after Britain voted to leave the European Union.
The prime minister, who backed a Remain vote, said Britain required "fresh leadership" to negotiate the country's exit from the EU.
"I do not think it would be right for me to be the captain that steers our country to its next destination," he said in a statement outside Downing Street.
He promised to "steady the ship" over the coming months before stepping down in October.
Mr Cameron, flanked by his wife Samantha, said the result was the "will of the British people" which was an "instruction which must be delivered".
Close to tears and with his voice breaking, Mr Cameron said: "I love this country and I feel honoured to have served it and I will do everything I can in future to help this great country succeed."

Man Bathes Policeman With Hot Soup,.

An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 33-year-old man, Imole Emmanuel, in prison custody for allegedly pouring hot soup on a police corporal, Kayode Akingbade.

Emmanuel was arraigned on counts of assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace.

It was learnt that he also attempted to snatch the corporal’s rifle.

A team of policemen was said to be on surveillance around the Baptist College, Ilawe Road, when one of them asked the suspect to leave the area in order for them to carry out their operation.

Akingbade was said to have gone to a canteen to eat about 30 minutes later only for the suspect to trace him there and pour hot soup on him.

The Fox Sports presenter, based in Argentina, took the wardrobe malfunction in her stride and acted like nothing had happened. Her co-host didn’t seem to notice either, which also probably helped.

But the incident did not escape the attention of viewers, some of whom filmed it and uploaded it on online, where it has been seen more than 350,000 times.

Man Stabbed His Partner 17 Times Because She Refused Him Sex.

A man stabbed his partner 17 times in front of their baby because she had refused him sex.

After the ‘frenzied’ attack, Antonio Neto locked the badly injured woman inside her house in Manchester, a court heard.

He has been jailed for 12 years.

The 26-year-old woman had invited Neto, 46, who lived at another address, to the home she shared with their three children to have dinner and help decorate the Christmas tree.

But he turned violent when he wanted sex but she rejected him.

He got a knife and told the victim: ‘Move the baby because I’m going to do something bad.’

During the attack, he bit her face and body and stabbed her, telling her: ‘You brought all this on yourself’.’

The baby was lying in the cot at the time and his face was splashed with blood.

When she called 999 in the aftermath, Neto put the phone down – but police traced the call and broke through the door to get in.

They found the woman naked and bleeding heavily on the stairs, with her and Neto’s other two children, aged three and four, by her side.

She was lucky to survive the attack, the court heard, suffering a perforated bowel and a collapsed lung whch meant she spent more than a month in hospital.

Neto was originally charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors accepted a guilty plea to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Judge Michael Leeming described the attack as ‘frenzied and sustained’ and told Neto he is a ‘danger to the public’.

The court heard Neto attacked a former partner in 2002 while she held their baby, because she said ‘no’ to sex – but he was spared jail.

Family Of 11 Killed ‘By Rapist Seeking Revenge Against His Victim'.

The prime suspect in the brutal massacre of 11 members of a Mexican family is an alleged rapist seeking revenge against a victim who landed him in jail.

A law enforcement official said they believe two attackers shot the woman, her family, and other relatives, including two girls.

The killers also slashed a male victim believed to be the woman’s partner, and may have tried to decapitate him. The Puebla state prosecutor’s office said that one of the dead women had been raped and had a child by one of the attackers, apparently several years ago.

The killings took place on Thursday night in the remote mountain hamlet of San Jose El Mirador, in the municipality of Coxcatlan in the central state of Puebla.

Clemente Hernandez, a leader of the 50-household village, said two other girls who were wounded were in serious condition, with bullet wounds to the chest and stomach.

Mr Hernandez, 37, said his two daughters, aged eight and nine, were among the dead. He said one of the women who died, also a relative of his, was pregnant.
‘We are not going back,’ he said of the hamlet’s residents. ‘We are going to look for work wherever we can.’

Five witnesses survived and were under government protection.

They told the authorities the attackers arrived by foot, opened fire and left. Prosecutors said they are believed to have fled into the mountains of neighbouring Oaxaca state.

Officials had previously raised the possibility that the killings had religious overtones because residents of the largely evangelical hamlet had previously had disputes with Catholics in a nearby community. But that now appears not to have played a role.

The two homes where the killings occurred can be reached only by foot and the bodies had to be carried to the nearest road on stretchers. They were taken to the city of Tehuacan for port-mortem examinations.

Amodu died in Benin there days after the death of former Super Eagles Captain and Coach, Stephen Keshi. who also died in Benin.

Reports have it that Shaibu Amodu complained of chest pains on Friday night and died in his sleep.

I Posed As Police Officer To Evade Transport Fare - Fake Cop

Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody a 33- year- old man for allegedly presenting himself falsely as a police officer.

The suspect, identified as Nathaniel Benjamin,  was said to have been fully kitted with anti- robbery squad T-shirt, a camouflage  face cap,  a black bag , black trousers with black   boots to match when he was arrested at the Alakija area of Ojo, Lagos by a team of policemen on patrol  following a tip-off from members of the public .

After his arrest, Benjamin  claimed to be from Kogi State but works as a driver to a private individual in Lagos.

He also confessed  to being a fake policeman trying to escape paying fares to commercial bus drivers.

“I love  police work but all my efforts to become a policeman has met a brick wall”, he told detectives.

“I am a driver to a private individual in FESTAC Town area of Lagos. I get N30, 000 as monthly salary but this is not enough to cater for my needs. I decided to dress as a police officer so that when I  board commercial vehicles, the drivers will not collect  fare from me. I decided to impersonate  because my salary is meagre and all efforts to earn more or get a well-paying job have been futile. I was desperate to save money from free transportation”.

Asked where he got the police uniform, the suspect said it was from his late brother who was a policeman.

“ I was not using the police uniform to defraud anybody. I did not  also use it to escort heavy duty vehicles. I got the uniform after my elder brother, who was a policeman, died in a road crash. My brother had not spent one year in the police when he was killed in a road accident last year. After his burial, I decided to use his uniform. I have been wearing it to get free ride for three months. I love police work. I have been applying to the police  for recruitment for a long time  but I was unsuccessful.  I  also applied for the  recent  recruitment and I have been praying to God to help me get into the police. I don’t know that dressing in police uniform is an offence.   It was my love for the force that made me impersonate police and also the free ride that comes with being a police officer “.

Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, former Super Eagles Coach and one time defender of the Super Eagles is dead. Keshi who was 54 years old died at the wee hours of today, Wednesday, in Benin

He was confirmed dead by Ben Olaiya.

Also Ademola Olajire, an Assistant Director of Communications in the Nigeria Football Federation, said that Keshi  died after he was rushed to an hospital in Benin after complaining of his legs.

He said that Keshi had problems with his legs and that he could not stand for long.

More so Valere Hounandinou, an Assistant Coach to Keshi, confirmed that ”last week Stephen Keshi complained to him that he was having irregular heart beats and he advised him to go the hospital’.

2 Master's Degree Students Drowns During A Birthday Bash In Lagos Beach.

Tragedy struck in Lagos when two ladies drowned at Elegushi Beach, Lekki. The ladies, Funmi, 24, and Shola, 27, were graduates of International Relations from Covenant University, Otta, Ogun State, and were studying for their Masters in International Law and Diplomacy at the University of Lagos, UNILAG.

The deceased, who were in the company of some friends, were at the beach to celebrate the birthday of one of their friends, when an alarm was raised by one of them, who noticed a heavy tide sweeping the ladies away.

Unfortunately for them, they drowned before help could come, with some local divers saying such incidents occurred daily.

One of them, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “There is never a week that at least three persons do not drown. Not just in Elegushi beach, but in Alfa Beach and others around this area. That is why picnickers are always advised to swim within the shores.”

When contacted, the South-West spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ibrahic Farinloye, said information at his disposal revealed that the deceased were among the picnic team.

He could, however, not ascertain whether their bodies had been recovered, but assured that he would get back to this reporter when armed with detailed information.

Client Rapes 7-Year-Old Daughter Of Prophetess.

Many people were left speechless at the Lagos State Police Command as a seven-year-old girl narrated how she was defiled by her mother’s client, Moruf Mohammed, at 5, Samsudeen Street, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos. It was learned that the suspect raped the victim in their apartment at about 1p.m. last Wednesday, when her mother went to the market.

It was gathered that when the victim’s mother returned from the market and found her bleeding, with her school uniform dress stained with blood, she revealed that one of the mother’s clients, who had come to see the mother, raped her (the child). According to the primary one pupil, “immediately I came back from school, Baba Moruf came to the house and asked after my mother. I told him that she was not at home.

“He then gave me N1,000, pushed me towards the door and removed my pants. When I tried to shout, he used his hands to cover my mouth. He first inserted his hands inside me before using his manhood on me.”

The suspect, 52-year-old Moruf Mohammed, who initially said he did not know what came over him, and that it was the work of the devil at the Juvenile and Women Centre, JWC, Igbogbo Divisional headquarters, Ikorodu, denied the allegation at the Police Command, Ikeja. According to him, “I am a bus driver from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State and I have three wives. The victim’s mother called me on phone to get money for the job she was doing for me.

“When I got there, she was not at home. But I met her daughter, who had just returned from school. “I went to see the victim’s mother because she is a prophetess and does some spiritual work for me. “Unfortunately, her mother was not at home, so I gave her N1,000. I did not touch her. A few days later they arrested me for raping the little girl.”

Mother’s story

According to the prophetess, “I knew Moruf Mohammed sometime ago as he comes for some spiritual works. On Wednesday, I called him to get money for the work I have done for him. “When I got home later, I met my daughter bleeding profusely with her uniform stained with blood. Immediately, I took her to the school where I was told nothing like that happened and that this was the handiwork of an adult.

“So I asked my daughter who did that to her? She said it was Moruf Mohammed, the client that gave her money to give to me. When we got to his place, my daughter identified him as the man that had defiled her and he was later arrested.” It was gathered that the victim was taken to Mirabel Centre, where a test revealed that she was sexually abused. The case, initially reported at the Igbogbo Divisional headquarters, Ikorodu, has been transferred to the Gender Unit for further investigation.

Muhammad Ali has died at the age of 74, a family spokesman has said.
The former world heavyweight boxing champion, one of the world's best-known sportsmen, died at a hospital in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona, after being admitted on Thursday.
He was suffering from a respiratory illness, a condition that was complicated by Parkinson's disease.
The funeral will take place in Ali's hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, his family said in a statement.

Man ‘Found With 21 Severed Vaginas’ In His Freezer Appears In Court In South Africa...

A man who was allegedly found with 21 pieces of female genitalia in his freezer has appeared in court. Peter Frederiksen, 63, a Danish man living in South Africa arrives in the dock ahead of his bail application.

Frederiksen was arrested back in September after 21 mutilated vaginas were allegedly found in his home. Surgical equipment and anaesthetic drugs were also said to have been found in the property.

It’s believed his wife, 28-year-old Anna Matseliso Molise, told police he drugged her and cut off private parts of her anatomy while she was incapacitated.

She was due to testify but was gunned down and killed while leaving her house last month. Police believe most of the victims are from the Lesotho area.

Frederiksen, said to own a gun shop, allegedly sedates victims before performing the illegal operations, a police statement said.

It is not clear if the severed vaginas were removed when the women were alive – or indeed if they would have survived the attacks.

Masilea Langa, a police spokeswoman, said that Frederiksen had kept a clear and organised record of every body part he had removed since his first victim in 2010.

The gun shop owner was arrested after the body parts were found in plastic freezer bags, confirmed police spokesman Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi.

Mr Mulaudzi said one of the victims alerted authorities and police have since appealed to any other women who may have been assaulted by the man to come forward.

He faces charges of sexual assault, intimidation and breaking South Africa’s medical laws.

A police investigation was launched enlisting the help of a forensics team.
