This is the moment a relieved woman removes her niqab after her war-torn village in Syria was liberated from Isis.
In areas occupied by the group, jihadists forced women to wear all-black dresses and hide their faces with a veil.
So when fighters from the US-backed Syria Democratic Forces took over the village, on the outskirts of Manbij city in Aleppo province, there was cause for celebration.
The image of the woman ripping the veil off her head symbolises the fightback against the extremists – who still occupy Manbij but are completely surrounded.
She is flashing a triumphant smile, and reveals a colourful hijab underneath the black veil.
In the photos, she is joined by other women who have already ditched the all-black ensemble imposed on them by the terrorists.
The SDF has also seized control of the road leading to the city and are planning an all-out assault to reclaim it from Isis.
Manbij was taken by Isis in 2014 and acts as a waypoint for the group’s supply line between Turkey and Raqqa, where they retain a heavy presence.
