Rider Crushed, Passenger Breaks Arm


A commercial motorcyclist was crushed to death on Saturday morning at Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos. His passenger, a young woman also broke an arm in the early morning accident. Witnesses told P.M.News that the accident occurred when the driver of a blue Toyota Camry apparently lost control after experiencing brake failure.


The motorcyclist who was riding by the side of the road and heading towards the Omole traffic point was crushed against a building on Plot 22, Lateef Jakande Way, Agidingbi. The passenger’s left arm was broken into two and only held by her skin. Many bystanders and others who rushed to the scene wept uncontrollably at the scene of the accident.

The corpse of the rider was pulled from underneath the Camry car. Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC and the Lagos State Transport Management Agency, LASTMA later rushed to the scene to take the two accident victims to the hospital. The driver of the Toyota Camry was arrested by policemen and taken away.

Lateef Jakande way, where the accident happened is one of the 475 roads the new traffic law of Lagos state prohibits okada riders from plying.
