Beyonce has joined the cast of Disney’s live-action remake of the 1994 animated classic The Lion King.
Disney unveiled the full cast for the new film, which is set for release in 2019.
The Halo singer will be playing the voice of Simba’s love interest Nala. Donald Glover is playing Simba, with James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi.
Comedian Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will play Timon and Pumbaa respectively, with Last Week Tonight host John Oliver as Zazu.
The Lion King is set for release on July 19, 2019 and will be directed by Jon Favreau.
Disney is going to well and truly own 2019, not only with The Lion King but the sequel to 2013’s Oscar-nominated film Frozen, which is out on November 27, 2019.
