MAN, FIANCÉE ARRESTED FOR BURGLARY...

A 25-year -old man and his fiancée are in the grips of the police for an alleged burglary at Tesano in Accra.

Abdul Rauf and Evelyn Kumi, 27, also known as Dela, both unemployed, were reported to have conspired and broken into the residence of the complainant, one Mr Aryee, who was not home. The suspects made away with 40 inches television set, two computer laptops, eight wrist watches, three ladies bags and unspecified amount of money.

Explaing their modus operandi, the Tesano District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Edward Tetteh, said Rauf sends Evelyn to monitor the activities of victims at their homes, and when they are not at home, she calls her boyfriend, and they break into  homes and steals items.

DSP Edward Tetteh, who confirmed this to The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday, said that the two are in police custody assisting in investigations. He said on June 29, 2017, the police received a complaint from Mr Aryee that his house had been broken into and his belongings stolen.

DSP Tetteh said during investigation, neighbours told the police they saw a woman carrying a tv set. He said when Evelyn was arrested, she mentioned Rauf as the one who broke into the house, leading to the arrest of Rauf at his residence.

The Police Commander stated that a search in Rauf’s room revealed a lady’s bag. DSP Tetteh asked the public to be vigilant, saying “we should endeavour to be each other’s keeper in the neighbourhood. It is the vigilance of the neighbours that led to the arrest of the suspects.”
