A fearless great-grandfather managed to throw three hooded thugs armed with a crowbar out of his house after returning home to find it being burgled.
And he was dressed to the nines while doing it.
Businessman Andrew Adamson, 59, and wife Liz, 58, were returning home from a social event when he noticed his front door had been forced open and three intruders were inside his home – so he leapt into action.
In CCTV footage from an alleyway outside his Kettering, Northamptonshire home, tuxedo-wearing Mr Adamson can be seen throwing out the first of the thugs by his lapels before going to deal with his accomplices and, despite being attacked by a two-foot-long crowbar, he amazingly manages to force out the second burglar by his hood while the third one is happy to flee.
‘We came home and they were already in there. My wife opened the door and thought it was my son playing but then realised it wasn’t,’ the 59-year-old told MailOnline.
‘The next thing we know the chap comes out with the iron bar and sparks were flying off it when he hit it off the wall so he was really trying to whack me.’
‘I followed them out into the street and I got hold of the other fella but the taller assailant came back for him and pulled a razor out so I decided that was the time to let go.’

Despite his impressive efforts, the trio were able to escape with Mr Adamson’s briefcase, the contents of which totalled about £400, and the father-of-three also sustained a gash in his head that required seven stitches.
He knows, however, it could have been much worse.
‘I was not just going to let them stand by and ransack my house – I did what any good husband would do. I wanted to protect my home and protect my wife,’ he said.
